The Official Poker Thread

I have my first poker tourney today…uh…help!

So how’d you do?

hm, so this is pretty bad… Three largest online poker sites indicted and shut down by FBI | Money & Company | Los Angeles Times

Beat me to it. This is pretty damn crazy. I’m kinda glad I never signed up for these, I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently because out here in Hawaii I don’t know anyone to play poker with. Oh well I guess I will wait until I move back to California to revive my weekly poker game.

Was anyone here affected by this?

My roll is currently stuck on FTP. Software won’t connect to their servers now, so at least for the moment I can’t play or cashout.

Disgusting.

I came in to post the news.

I owe FTP some money that I highly doubt I’m going to have to pay, so that’s pretty baller, but otherwise it really sucks, because I would have paid it once my self-banned account was usable again, I really enjoyed the interface, I just didn’t have the money to play at the time. >_>

Got dropped relatively early when I got hit by a straight on the river…

Went into a cash game, and I ended up coming out $50 heavier than when I went into the entire day.

yeah i dunno what the hell the deal is. i have like $8 on PS still sitting there with a $20 pending cash out (e-checks take forever) so i dont know wtf the deal will be. really kind of discouraging as i love cards. hopefully its resolved fast

What sites should US players go to play now? Or should we just lay low for the time being.

^^ seriously. is there anywhere safe to play right now?

I wouldn’t risk any money in online poker until this matter is resolved. As of right now, if you’re in the US then you cannot play online poker…sucks I know. Easiest thing to do is move to Australia.

And if you have money tied up right now, it’s not going anywhere for a while.

Its just the big sites that are shut down. Bodog is still running and I believe cake is too.

you could move to Canada, its closer for us ;D

Also the sites have not been shut down. Stars and Tilt are still running for non-us players.

which type of poker do i need to learn how to play? didnt know there were so many different types.

NL is the most lucrative since it has the biggest community…

Damn @ the sites being down for us U.S. players. I was just talking to my friend about getting started on online poker the other day and he told me I had real bad timing, then he broke the news to me. This probably sucks royally for the players whose money is sitting in limbo right now.

'Wondering what’s the point of them shutting it down online? Too many underage kids gambling or something?

ok, thanks

lol, looks like somones after y’all —

luckily this doesnt apply to me,

edit: seems like i was late on the discussion, my bad.

NL (No Limit) is just a betting type of the game of choice. You want to learn Texas Hold’Em and probably Omaha Hi.
