Always lose huh?

Luck may get a poker scrub a few hands, but I’ll take a race where I’m the favorite any day; you can’t let one lucky card ruin your whole poker career. Saw a guy with Pocket Jacks go up against Queens once, and the guy caught a Queen on the flop. Jacks proceed to get runner runner Queens…it was crazy. Saw the same guy a few weeks later sitting pretty with close to a grand in front of him. That’s just gambling in general; you gotta be able to take the ups and downs of playing with big money…and I’m not there yet, haha.

Off the subject, what are the bad beat jackpots at the casinos you guys go to? It was up to 10 grand at one casino I went to last week, and there was a hand that hit! Never saw so many Benjamins on a table before…

Then again, some guy from Mississippi said there was a 30 grand bad beat jackpot at one place he went to o_O

In a sit and go, you don’t really need cards. If you’re playing on party, you can fold everything, and I mean EVERYTHING unless its AA KK QQ AK until level 3,maybe 4 if u want, and with your tightish image you’ll be fine. Basically all the chips you lost to blinds in previous levels is less than one blidn steal at a later level. By that time it’s like 5-6 handed, and as long as people don’t pick up monsters, u can easily build a stack by moving in at good times for those 75/150 or 100/200 blinds.

If you get kings now, it’s even better. I think if u can pick up kings at any level greater than 3, u can almost always make the money barring a pretty bad beat. In SnG play, remember mid-lategame is most important unless u pick up a set against overpair or AA KK vs underpair preflop and double up. PM if u want some help on SnG play, as i’ve focused on them for the past few months and have done decently well (21% ROI).

jackpots qualify under usually Aces full of tens beaten by Four of a kind or better using both hole cards (must play)…the loser of the hand get 50% of the jackpot total, the winner gets 25% and the rest of the table share another 25% for being dealt in…so just being there isn’t bad if it ever happens even if your not inon the showdown

position 1-3 you should play premium hands only… AA KK QQ JJ 1010 AK AQ and MAYBE AJ and KQ Suited. It also depends on how agressive table is… if everyone is being passive, you could maybe even play A-10 or 99… Always RAISE to get rid of people that catch bullshit on flop.

position 4-6 you can play semi-good cards, like small pockets or suited connectors… but this also depends if people raised before you or not… if no one has, and you have a premium hand, you should always raise.

position 7-9 you can actually play whatever you want, if the pot odds are right. premium hands, middle position hands, and sometimes even shitty ass offsuit connectors.
if no one has raised in front of you, raise.

what do u guys think of this hand?

I’d like the post flop raise to be more, you got a pot of 2.05, betting 40 cents is betting hoping people will call, there’s 2 draws out there plus you have the low end of the 2 pair, I would have probably bet $1 or more, depending on how I felt about the game(take note Im pretty loose/ aggressive/ reckless/ w/e). that’s all before you got reraised though, that reraise is saying PLEASE call me, you gotta figure at WORST he has an open ended draw, probably more like at least an 8 though. Assuming he has an 8, you were drawing to 2 outs, and you called almost 10% of what you started the hand with. That’s not optimal. Imo if you really dont believe him there you gotta make a good size reraise to try and push him out.

okay next question about the same hand. what are my odds of winning a pot like that ON THE FLOP? i dun know who has the better advantage and the odds of my opponent having an 8 or the 6. that really confused me the most. or he could have the full house on the flop!!! i dunno what to think when a flop comes a pair on the flop =(

On a side note: i accidently went into a STUD LIMIT sit n go. yeah what a dumbfuck i am. I DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW TO PLAY THE GAME! so i left the table and when i signed off and signed back on, i was directed to the same table…AND I WAS STILL IN! i was like fuck it…let’s just raise raise raise. i was down 10:1 and i came all the way back and beat everyone HAHAHAHA oh man that shit was hilarious!

What im wondering is how is playing .5.-.10 NL tables even WORTH your time?

you cant possibly be making any real money out of that, and im also thinking people are going to be playing a LOT looser on micro limit tables.

decent hand chart from ITH

What does “Call 1” mean?

GGPWNED… Anyone wanna send me FTP or PS money? I’ll paypal themmm… :frowning:

wow, tough luck there Marn =/

Strider Hiryu: yeah it’s a big waste of time playing at the 10 cent tables. in fact, i’m usually mad at myself for not stepping up. but i feel i need to claim myself as a clear winner before moving up. besides, my bankroll is right now around $40 and i want to save enough to play in the SRK tournaments. but soon i’ll be moving up.
and also, for the micros, there are tables that play extremely tight and some that plays extremely loose. overall, the money comes in slowly, sometimes fast. so making $5 a day is not bad, but a big waste of time.

rsigley: thanks bro, i’ll be using this a lot more often =D

i usually play 1-2 limit if im clearing a bonus…

if im just fucking around ill play 2-4 or 3-6. you make money hellsa fast in 3-6, without needing that high of a bankroll…

anywho…

i randomly have 3 texas hold-em E-books, at about 10 MB each in PDF. format.

if anyone wants, just PM me.

what kind of bankroll do u consider playing on .50/1 or 1/2?

what sites are u playing on? i’m usually on Stars cuhz well, that’s the only site i deposited in. i wanna join.

i have some e-books as well at home right now. do you by any chance have Small Stakes Holdem by David Sklanksy?

AND IS THERE AN SRK TOURNAMENT ON SUNDAY??

well generally, you need a bankroll of 20-25x BB…

so for .50 - $1, you need only $25

1-2 = 50

2-4 = 100

you dont have to… but to be agressive, you probably should.

i play usually just on the party network and the cryptos, solely just for the bonus whoring…

after clearing bonuses, i usually cash out immediately… but i will leave some money to fuck with on party and empire, since those seem to have the softest games ive ever experienced.

and im currently reading super-system 2, just to get better at omaha.

i don’t like post whoring on this thread, but i just wanna show it.

so i stepped up my game a little bit and went to the .10/.25 table. third hand, this is what i got.

I had a feeling had trips or something. =/

Depending on his style of play, he could have had anything. He wasn’t short stacked or anything so there’s really no need to play too conservative, so any premium hand he should have raised.

I’m thinking champ had the top pair, and Griz either hit a set (check-raised and near potbet the scary turn) or he was just trying to push people out, but with a pot like that the risk of trying to steal a pot is unlikely.

You should have just called after Griz re-raised, you had position on him the first time, these .75 cent raises to online players don’t mean anything. Him betting 4 on the turn was definitely a bet of value, i think he had you beat the whole time. He was definitely scared of the straight, because he would have checked it on you again if it was a blank because he should have known you were going to bet the pot. If he had the straight the whole time, a full rainbow should should guaranteed that he had the best hand, and would have checked again. But I could be completely wrong and overanalying the whole situation.

If this was a live game, I would have just called the 4 dollars on the turn. If he checks the river, pot bet it and he’ll fold.

you got EXTREMELY lucky this hand… he got fucked by trying to trap you with trip Jacks, and you LUCKILY caught your king on the turn. Thats why he didnt bet on the flop. cause he was trying to slow play it. I think you should have raised it a little more preflop… Atleast 3-4x. Coz holding pocket kings… if you see a flop of J J A, thats fucking scary. Coz he didnt need aces at that point to beat you… all he needed was ONE Ace or ONE Jack.
So yeah… You got hella lucky this hand.

Agreed with Stri, you won because you got lucky that he fucked up and didnt bet and he fucked up worse than you did. You fucked up by only raising 2x BB. At a micro table like that, when its only .50 people are obviously going to call with any ace, and lots will call with almost any jack. Both of those hands leave you with TWO outs. Just to let EVERYONE know this is exactly why you want to bet your premium hands preflop, and also why slowplaying can crush you. Now both of you fucked up by not betting when there was a 2 flush out there, both of your hands get beat by it, letting a flush see a free card(ESPECIALLY when you have a hand) is not good.

Now, I actually think the hand where you flopped bottom 2 pair is worse, with all that raising going on its pretty clear your dead.
