Any reason why? Ev training easier there?
Probably because people are use to EV training in DP because we’ve had it a lot longer, so people are probably more familiar to the EV training spots.
yeah, ev training is easier in d/p cause good hotspots were found for every stat. the hotspots in hg/ss are still unknown at the moment…
i am not even sure if there’s a vs seeker in hg/ss. i assume there is but idk.

I’m playing my brother’s game. Can you battle random people online, or do I have to go through with the friendcode nonsense. If so, how do I go about just battling random people across the world?

If you connect Pokewalkers with somebody, you can fight their team in a building in Viridian City.
When you put your pokemon on your pokewalker it exports your whole team, one of the battle frontiers can have those teams in 'em(along with your union room sprite IE. I will always show up as a blackbelt). So If I had a team of 6 level one magice karp when I put my pokemon on my pokewalker, then we do the pokewalker connect thing, you could end up fighting a blackbelt with 6 magikarp in one of the battle frontier events(I forget which one, might be battle tower).
I’ve also been thinking of a team with registeel with only thunder wave and iron head, jirachi with only thunder wave and iron head, togekiss with only body slam and air slash, and 3 other para flinchers. This is of course only in hypothetical ways to make the biggest jerk teams for my friends, I would NEVER do such a thing… really!
edit: ah is it veridian? I thought it was was in the battle events, oh well. I haven’t actually beaten the game yet so I don’t know, I’ve just seen my friends doing it.

Two fun things to do: Team Junker Happiny and Team “Magikarp”
Team Junker Happiny’s a good one to do to someone. Make a team of 6 L100 Happniies with shit IVs, no EVs, and the following moveset: Sleep Talk, Recycle, Refresh, Psych Up. Now, proceed to watch as the end user receives the easiest massive xp imagineable.
Team “Magikarp” on the other hand is simply a fuckton of legendaries with names like Magikarp, Feebass, Sunkern, etc. just to fuck w/ 'em, or the reverse, and have a team of Magikarps with legendaries for names. Mindfucks ftw.
I remember I used a Houndoom with Beat up on Shoddy to take out Blissey’s in early D/P. I would name my entire team stupid stuff like Sunkern and stuff, so when it shows the names of what came out and “beat” up the Pokemon, it would give those names instead.
It sounds like you speak from experience. 
Yes and no. Yes you can but only in the wi-fi room of the Battle Tower at the Battle Frontier (you have to beat the Elite Four and Champion to gain access there) and even then you’re limited to the number of Pokmon you can use, the types (most legendaries are banned), and the items they can hold.
You’re better off getting friend codes from people online.
