The OFFICIAL Pokemon thread ver 2.5

The extra two pokemon I sent are the event Pichu and Jirachi that needed to be traded to HG/SS to get the spiky-eared Pichu - I forgot what event the Jirachi will trigger.

lol I wonder what egg will hatch into?

If anyone else wants the event Pichu/Jirachi, let’s set up a trade sometime this week.

I dunno what’s in that egg ??? it was just sitting in box 10 lol.

Anyone going to GameStop in five days to get Jirachi?
Event will be February 27, 2010 to March 13, 2010.

Unlock the Night Sky’s Edge route in Pokwalker.

I might, I got like 4 Jirachis now :looney:

See that’s the problem with my teams. I have A LOT of pokemon, but all of them generally have the same damn moveset. Like for example, I have like 3 infernape that all do the same damn thing

CC
Flamethrower
Grass Knot
NP

Some are EV trained differently, that’s pretty much the only difference haha. I’ve been looking for versatility these last couple of days, though it may be the same pokemon movesets are getting tweaked. For example I have 3 metagross but all of them or agili, I turned one into the CB set. The other I might use a SR lead or supporting tank, with screens or the like. I’ll keep an agiligross of course, but that’s pretty much what I’ve been trying to do. My Jolteon had something like this:

TB
Subs
HP Ice or Grass Forgot
Baton Pass

Pretty much a sub passer, many people get this set to work but I never don’t. So I changed it to the specs lead

TB
Shadow Ball
HP Ice or Grass
Baton Pass

Tweaking sets is fun. It feels like I was behind a bit in the overall metagame but with my planning (and allans help lol) I’m getting back on track with the current strategies/analysis that are up to date.

Bah dealing with Scizors now is a pain…but not hard to handle still. I used to have Moltress handle scizors since i ran a scarfed one that easily killed them. with my more def oriented teams Zapdos does just as well with fewer weaknesses.

Dragonite staying OU is due to power…base stats IMO are too deadly in UU.

let’s not talk weavile…no one cares about it and it went from potential anti dragon to ignored the moment Scizor got bullet punch.

Hail teams still have a niche…a samll one but I run one still. Yes I refuse to conform to everyone’s Heatrans/Scizors/Rotom forms…I can beat teams that use them without using them myself.

Metagame moved too fast for me, and I didn’t really make the transition into Platinum that well. =/

Moltres is a bit risky for a slot now, there are better counters. S/R is in demand, and the fire bird gets stripped of 50% health every switch (assuming it’s not starting, but then again I haven’t seen many moltres leads). If we factor other things then of course a spinner comes to play, but outside of forretress and tentacruel your spinning options are severely limited. Zapdos over moltres for sure, now that he gained Heat Wave.

I don’t mean entirely UU, just BL. Right now there are 7 pokemon that are currently BL, in question too strong for UU but don’t really do well in OU. Beamers can still threaten any dragonite such as bulky waters, there’s still quite a few of them there in UU ie. Steels can take at least 1 danced outrage, and dragonite hates S/R

So we all agree, Weavile should get the boot

I just don’t see how you guys can run a HS team now. SS and RD teams are vastly superior, I’d even take SD teams over HS ones now. You gain nothing from the HS except putting more Ice type pokemon in your slots, and the only Ice type that grants neutrality to SR is Manoswine. Not saying much in general.

Hail is fun for the challenge…Moltress was a lead pkmn for me but worked as a revenge killer (yeah getting rid of rocks was always a priority) and yeah no one cared about Weavile…Forretress (who’s on almost all of my teams) laughed at it since the start of Diamond/Pearl.

Well to be fair CB Weavile packed a punch in the early D/P metagame, but I agree there’s nothing he can do but revenge kill now. His defenses are too low and steels completely shut him down, not to mention most priority moves are gg for him.

I have a Spec’d Moltres, I don’t like him as a lead also so I try to get him in before S/R gets up. Now when factoring lets say a SD, plus Specs, plus Overheats base, PLUS STAB = SUPERNOVA! Even Blissey would shit in her pants

I DID manage this

Abosnow
Forelass
Manswine
Weavile
Jynx
Glaceon

and beat somebody that had a metagross AND a scizor! Talk about lucky (in which I did, scizor missed a BullP on my snow cloaked glaceon)

You could play NU, for kicks  The UU and OU metagame are stacked now, gimmicks are just too hard to achieve.

man, idk how you beat scizor with that HS team…in theory he should own all of those pokemon for free lol. because of scizor, i ran a moltres on my HS team and i ran a tentacruel for toxic spikes support and battling pesky infernapes (again, another pokemon that owns HS teams for free).

the vid with my last time using on WiFi a hail team…I have refined it a bit since but it was fun to try it out.

That’s why I was shocked, Snow Cloak ftw! My Glaceon KO’d it after a hax missed bullet punch. I also got in an Ice Beam critical, Glaceon’s Sp. Atk should not be underestimated. That’s a true hailstorm team lol, but really that team is SUPER hard to run now, the trainer absolutely must get lucky here and there.

That’s a terrible lead by the other trainer lol, I wonder why he used EQ instead of SE for the KO.

/sheds a tear of happiness

What’s the opinion of SRK concerning GBA hacks/fan-made games such asrijonAdventures and RaptorEX?

Note: Those are either patches or .EXE fanmade games made with RPG Maker XP, not links to roms. >.<

well to be fair he was a newcomer to competitive battling and that is why I took the chance to try out my hail team.

yeah, glaceon is downright nasty on a HS team. specs + stab blizzard is extremely powerful coming off a base 130 sp. atk. the ONLY reason i didn’t run one on my HS team is because it’s not fast enough…it has a decent amount of bulk to take non-SE hits though. whatever you hit with blizzard is either going to get ohko’ed or a big ass chunk of HP is going to be lost. even blissey is probably 2hko’ed by that shit :looney:l

Ahh I see, man those were the days. I remember myself when I was just getting into it, wrong natures and everything. LOL. Hyper Beam on Dragonite, Gyarados without DD, I was a scrub :o

Believe it or not a girl taught me how to play :china:

100% Blizzards rock, that’s why I stack my HS teams with Ice types to get the most of the weather. If only glaceon was fast enough, even with EV investment its speed is a lost cause.

I haven’t played a hack since 2003 and it was some hack of Pokemon Crystal iirc. A couple months ago I saw a hack on Youtube called Pokemon Liquid Crystal (a hack of Pokemon Fire Red). That game looks interesting but otherwise I don’t keep up-to-date on Pokemon hacks.

Weavile is still good, because of STAB Ice Shard and Pursuit

PursuiTar is better though, hits harder, is not blocked so easily by steels, and is not 25% by S/R :bgrin:

I don’t see many Pursuit Weavile nowadays, well maybe in the CB set. I fought another Weavile yesterday that favored Fake Out over Pursuit (granted he lead with that to counter common leads I believe)

Weavile’s pursuit is much faster, allowing him to hit first on things like Latias, Gengar (Very important snice it cna OHKO tyranitar), Starmie. Tyranitar better at pursuiting Rotom.

Also, it’s not just the pursuit. Theyre different pokemon in other ways. Ice Shard is great for killing Salamence that already got a dragon dance. He has swords dance for late game clean up

Most importantly, he wins me games, that’s all that matters in the end right?

P.S. Stealth rock is a real problem for him though, since he needs to switch out frequently. But it’s not as bad as it seems, because he’s the type of pokemon that dies if he gets hit anyway, heh. So it’s only really relevant when hes swtiched in so much that he’s dead
