I don’t really mind Steelix because he can revenge explode, but Rampardos man…
489 something atk just gets wasted because it’s too damn slow to do anything, and his defenses suck. Even the trick room didn’t help.

It’s a shame. Unresisted, CB’ed hits from that thing are nuts! :looney:
that’s what I was thinking about. especially if it’s stone edge, yikes.
Steelix always needs more love.
Does anyone around here play on Shoddy Battle?
I do, but I haven’t touched it in months. Been busy with other games, plus I might have to go through my teams and see if the Heart Gold/Superior Silver move updates are worth looking into.
Not a lot of people here play shoddy, I use to but somewhere down the line I liked/preferred wifi more.
Shoddy is good if you’re a sucker with no wifi!
:wonder:
I do, name is the same and my alt is BigDaddy-o. Last months have been laddering in ubers only tho
reviving this thread for a bit…just as a heads up if you take your platinum, diamond or pearl version into gamestop between january 30th and february 14th you can receive a special pikachu colored pichu needed to unlock a special code in heart gold and soul silver.
i just noticed that some of the tiers changed. alakazam is at UU now…roserade went back to OU. sounds good to me! anyone want to battle today?
thx for the heads up, my gmstp isn’t far from here and even though I hate going there I can make an exception for this
Actually this isn’t the first time Roserade has been OU. It has proven to be a dangerous lead and even more dangerous in UU, sleep powder and stun spore to cripple any counters it may face there + a MEAN 125 sp atk base. Roserade has problems with it’s speed in OU, but in UU it has a really workable speed base. As for Alakazam, with so many things possibly scarfed in OU made Alakazam users weep. Alakazam is one of those pokemon that HAS to be used at the right time, the Trickazams seem a bit more gimmicky now too. CM Alakazam is deadly, but with low HP and pathetic defenses he may bot have enough time to get in as many CM’s as he wants + a lot (if not all) first priority moves are physical based. Hell definitely see some UU usage though, and possibly be switched to BL. But I think this is the last time we’ll ever see Alakazam in OU again
Smogon base its tiers off general usage through testing stages IIRC. So if this is true other mentionables could include Vire, Flygon, and to a lesser extent, Magnazone. I NEVER see these pokemon no more, there’s a few other mentionables but these really stick out atop my head. Like really, when is the last time you seen somebody using Flygon when they can use an Outraging Salamence? I think Smogon needs to take a look at Flygon or Dragonite and decide which should go.
I might be down for battles later, dunno yet.
all of those pokemon have dumb gimmicks that keeps them from truly being great (vire needing a motor boost to really inflitct damage, magnazone only being a steel trapper, flygon being outclassed by mence). that’s a shame about flygon though…has so much potential and is not hampered by any entry hazards and has good typing but stats are outclassed by mightymence…but still my favorite dragon. i do think that gengar should be UU too or at the very least BL despite all its immunities. OU metagame is just too physical and priority based nowadays for it to really do any damage to anything. WTF is with porygon2 going to NU though?
i’ll probably make a sandstorm team today. rhyperior + substitute + solid rock + sand = BEAST.
I don’t think I’ve battled you yet…
X4 EQ weakness is NASTY. Magnet Rise is a must on any Zone. The problem is that Magnazone is too slow, and electric typing usually results to a poor moveset. Since the days when SkarmBliss was devastating teams saw a lot of Magnazone usage, I might stick him in one of my SS teams but that’s as far as I’ll go.
When Garchomp was OU maaan was Flygon feeling it. He basically got to OU because Garchomp went Uber, people don’t wanna admit it but it’s the truth. He’s still X4 to Ice, and nowhere be means stronger or faster than chomp. It’s not really a fair comparison, but like I said I think Smogon is gonna take a look at Dragonite or Flygon. I have a Flygon and he’s very versatile, but I can never fit him on a squad that’s not SS.
The revamped standard moveset for gengar pretty much saved him from dropping, combine that with the immunities you pointed out. He’ll never drop because he’s just too damn unpredictable: some are starting to explode on blissey, set a focus punch, HP Fire on some now, you never know what somebody has on their Gengar nowadays. I’ve seen some with Will-O-Wisp, HP Ice, Energy Ball for Swampert, some are even gimmicky with Destiny Bond.
Porygon2 was once consider one of the best leads in the metagame. NU is wrong on so many levels, somebody screwed up there. I still see porygon 2, most with boltbeam. Simple, but effective enough not be NU, certainly.
Porygon2 in NU?
Lame, the Porygon line, along with the Piplup line are my favorites.
you know the funny thing is that i was planning on fitting both magnezone and flygon onto my SS teams. BUT i disagree with magnezone needing magnet rise. for me he has very limited usage so in my case i decided to stick a choice scarf onto it because he will usually be switched out anyway and gets the chance to outspeed most pokemon that decide not to switch.
making my SS team now and will probably be ready to battle for anyone reading this
there’s a few movesets for magnezone that don’t include the magnet rise, but I dunno I guess it’s a preference. With careful prediction, you can sneak in a subs and won’t have to worry about EQ for a turn rather than switching out. While I have not seen too many scarfed zones the thought of it is interesting (kinda like a scarfed marowak). One thing is clear though, with about 60% of pokemon running EQ scares the crap outta me. Just one EQ from anything can be devastating to zone. Then there’s the annoying fighting weakness, all of it’s weaknesses are kinda common.
luckly for me I’m doing nothing right now so doujinshi or anybody else that wants to fight I’ll be on for a period of time. My FC should be on the first page :wonder:
edit - oh yea I forgot my router is down lol, well I can still play just off one that has a weaker signal. I hope it doesn’t freeze up or some shit if I battle someone
i think a scarf’d zone actually gives it a chance to attack with that crazy base 130 special atk without being hampered by its slow speed and hopefully scoring some k.o’s
almost done making my SS team though, i’ll let you know when i’m finished
how did i miss this a month ago? yes yes GO CACTUNE! come HG/SS I’ll be back in on shit…shoddy helps me think of new things to relate to what the current metagame is running but right now been on break from battles. Will return soon.
zone has the highest special atk among electric types I believe, I’d hate to get hit by that thing spec’d.
alright cool, I’ll hang around.
