The OFFICIAL Pokemon thread ver 2.5

heh…guess every point can make a difference…

Pretty new to pokemon here. Started playing April 15th, haven’t done too much battlan’ personally, I’m more in it for the collection :wgrin: (over 250 pokemon obtained so far!)

But I have a Jolly Gible, I refuse to pokesave up uber pokes so what’s the best way to EV him? I’ve got a ton of cool pokemon in my Box’s (including a shiny Rotom, oh yes, I caught him legit, first time I went the old mansion) But I’ve mostly been training a DIFFERENT gible (already a garchomp) with Substitute, Dragon Claw, Dragon Rush, Sandstorm and a shiny crobat with Air slash (lol flinch hacks) Wing attack(?), Poison Fang and Fly (Whoops lol)

So yeah how can I shape up those move sets? I know that Garchomp would benefit from swords dance but I don’t think I have the TM. Also, where do I go to remove HM’s?

Best way to EV gible up is train it around the 7 gym. It’s hard because there’s a lot of Ice types, but the pokemon out there give 1/2 EV’s in ATK and SPD.

To remove a HM move, you gotta head to Canalave City, house below the pokemon center.

Garchomp usually have this moveset:

Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Fire Fang
Swords Dance

Garchomp doesn’t learn EQ. You need TM 26 bellow the cycling road bridge or 80 BP.

well for garchomp he doesn’t have to drop sub…he can keep it and try for a brightpowder chomp…that shit is annoying!

Swords dance
Sub
EQ
Dragon claw or Outrage

get’s more easily walled but making it very hard to hit

also it’s an idea to try to make a bulky Chomp…been looking into that.

I fucking lost a match to a bright powder Gliscor in sand storm, shit was dumb.
Missed a flame thrower that would of went to sweep in the first three turns.
Missed a Nasty Plotted Ice beam that would of went on to sweep.

:edit: Gaiafags don’t know the standard clauses. xDDDD

in general i ev trained like this

west of Pastoria City to route 212, you’ll find a lot of Bibarel and Kricketune in the grass, both giving 2 EVs to Attack.

For special attack go to the old mansion or whatever it’s called for ghastly giving 1 sp atk… not so much but they’re all you encounter so you don’t have to chain. plus I think you can encouner haunters and gengars with a certain cart in your DS.

iron island for golems and steelix which give like 2 def ev’s

starly and staravia for speed…I think I encountered some when I was getting attack evs

HP I got from bidoofs… really common early on(same with starly) and really easy to kill. though this was for pure ev’s not experience… so I don’t know good places to get both

It didn’t take me too long because of the Macho brace… and I was lucky enough to catch pokerus halfway through the game…
I forgot where I got special defense…

Subs on a switch, then sword dance/sweep. The idea is that you want him as fast as possible for the sword dance boost, bettering his sweeping potential. Good EV’s all into speed will get him around 330, which is ok.

He can make it bulky, but I’d just use whatever EV’s I have left on his atk. Garchomp has ok HP anyway for repetitive sub abuse.

Smogon has something about a bulky Chomp down at the bottom.

But I remember someone had a bulky Chomp set that could survive Electivire Ice punch and EQ it.

Old Mansion is really good for Special Atkers.

Ghastly gives 1 EV
Haunter 2 EV
Gengar 3 EV

You gotta have the older pokemon games if you want to encounter gengar into your DS slot. Or you can go to that haunted tower where you get strength, nothing but Zubat and Ghastly…the idea for special sweepers. Macho Brace doubles EV, making them pretty quick to earn at a time :stuck_out_tongue:

Tentacruel is a really good poke to take down for special def. You find most of them near the 8th gym around the water.

I use Magikarp for speed, there is a Magikarp trainer on the bridge by Eterna City
I use the Bidoof trainer for HP, there in one right by the hill on the way to Solaceon town (spelling?)

The EV training spots I usually use are:

HP: The female trainer near the mud ramp below Solaceon town. Has 5 Bidoofs.

Attack: The fisherman on Route 22 who’s farthest to the left. Has 2 Gyarados.

Defense: The ninja kid in the middle of the grass on Route 210. Has 3 Geodudes.

Special Attack: Fighting wild Golducks in the pool just outside the cave where you find Giratina.

Special Defense: …never had to EV train much of anything in Special Defense in Pearl yet, so I don’t know of any really great spots.

Speed: The fisherman on Route 205. He’s got 6 Magikarps.

I’d suggest getting all the power items from the Battle Tower. They really speed things up. Using the Power Anklet as an example…normally you’d only get 1 speed EV from a Magikarp, but if your pokemon has pokerus and is holding a Power Anklet, it’ll get 10 instead (1 + 4 from the anklet, then multiplied by 2 because of Pokerus). That’s 60 EVs for one little battle. Pretty nice.

well yesterday…evasion hax saved my ass 3 times…whicth had me turn a whole match around when I was down 2 pkmn to 4

My TR team continues to be more dominate than any of my others.
Once Machamp gets in, he hurts a lot of things in a hurry.

WOW you guys work fast.

Thanks for all the help! So… has anyone caught them all or…?

I’m still working on it, gotta do some more transfers from ADV. :stuck_out_tongue:

Same here.

Wow, this has been going on strong huh?

Like I expected any less? Anywho, i’ve been in a slight poke-funk recently, but i’ve been looking for a battle or two…I still suck, don’t worry. Easy wins for all. I just have fun battling.

A firend has been helping me gather a team together, and i’m getting better, but in my opinion, i still suck.

Maybe see you guys online?

I’d love to battle but I need to wake up early for work tomorrow. Maybe tomorrow evening?

I just got home…I’d be down to play …hell I can go right now.

@ Infernoman: Sure, lemmie grab your FC real quick…and my DS for that matter. be on in a minute i is there, where be you?

@ Mr. Bastos: Don’t see why not.
