ff8 was the videogame equivalent to a twilight movie/book. cept for some reason, ff8’s demographic has a few more penises in it.

The start of disc 2 did confused me how home boy was like “oh lol, I’m ok! It’s not like a giant ice shard stab the shit out of me or anything”.
Never finished the game, got about half way through disc 2, but just didn’t bother going back to it.

Huh? What does playing it again have anything to do with it. It’s just a theory that makes the events more acceptable, doesn’t mean I’d play it again, I still didn’t think the game was that good.
Items like phoenix down supposedly revive from unconscious, not death, and let alone you KNOW that shit never has any bearing on the story. All those items n stuff are basically just battle only things

That dream thing in now way makes FF8 any more acceptable. It makes it worse in fact because the ending you get is the absolute most unsatisfying type. “it was all a dream.” Your commitment to the narrative, no matter how little sense it made, was a complete waste of time because none of it happened anyway.

Me to. Triple Triad was fucking awesome. I wasted hours in that card game. Many more hours then the game proper I know that.
theres many things that discount squal being dead by that thing, it’s not even on the side of the heart and theyre in a magical future BUT that is a really FAT shard of ice, theres many things for it too. think it’s all intentional, you can choose yourself which reality it really is

I liked FF8’s card game but I liked FF9’s card game even more. Biggest gripe with FF8’s card games was how eventually after playing in certain regions, you would get your rules permanently changed to where at the beginning of card games you couldn’t even pick the cards you wanted, it auto-picked them for you. I hated that so much. I know you can avoid this if you avoid certain regions, but then you miss out on good cards, etc. etc. There were other annoying, bullshit rules that started to appear the more you played too, that was just one of the bigger ones I remember.
reminds of final fantasy tactics advance where there were certain rules for battles. interesting. i remember there being rules but i dont ever remember being annoyed by them. ive been thinking about running through ff8 again as it was one of my favorites.

There were ways to change the rules of a region to the rules you wanted.
Made getting a lot of those gdlk cards much easier.
I think I might have been the only one to attempt all stats at 255 for all characters. So much wasted time…
