BullDancer,
The “updated” scenes are exactly WHY Twin Snakes is dumb. It would be cool if it was like MGS with MGS2 gfx, but it’s not. It’s MGS cutscenes in MGS2 gfx and every little thing has been “matrixified.” Every cs has ridiculous bullet time bullshit and ridiculous anime gun-fu shit. Throws suspension of disbelief out of the fucking window.
Granted, this is a game that has telepaths, electric men, psychokinetics, ghosts, robo ninjas, robo t-rex WMDs and other ridiculous things, but there was still a realistic feel and tone to the original’s cutscenes as opposed to TS. Even MGS 2 and 3 didn’t employ such stupid nonsense in their cutscenes. Actually, 3 had some pretty outrageous shit, but not that outrageous. MGS4 was when they brought the ridiculousness back, but they limited it to the characters that looked like they could do that shit (Raiden, Vamp). Snake (young and old) is not supposed to be able to do any of that insane shit.
MGS1 voice acting and music > MGS TS voice acting and music.
I mean, Jesus, compare what is arguably the most powerful scene in MGS1 with it’s MGSTS’s counterpart. SPOILER WARNING
Even with the shit PS1 gfx, the original’s cutscene shits ALL OVER the remake. C’mon, son.
The dialogue cuts in TS were unnecessary, as well, and the reduction of accents. Bah. I’m turning into a ranting old man again. Let me stop here.
Yeah, TS has better gameplay, but gameplay alone wasn’t what sold MGS. It was the entire package. The experience. MGSTS has the gameplay, and fucks everything else up. Anyone’s experience with TS will be less than stellar, as opposed to the original. Just suck it up and play. The game isn’t that long anyway, so you won’t have to deal with the aged gameplay for too long. Soliton radar and triangle button are your friends.
