FFV is pretty awesome. I never beat it though, I was in the last dungeon and accidentally walked into Ultima Weapon. I got GGPO’d and never played the game since. V, II, and III are the only ones I’ve never beaten from 1-10 but I own them all. I got stuck in III on DS, quit playing. I hated the way you gained stats in II so I never bothered with it.
Any FF after X is garbage, imo.

The money you would end up spending on it could buy you a couple GOOD rpgs off of psn (ps1 classics)
Dont ever put Nier in the same category/sentence ANYTHING as Folklore. Do NOT get Nier, I just got it cause it was $10, worse $10 spent this gen.

FF13 is love it or hate it. It’s mostly just battles, battles, battles, and the game VERY SLOWLY opens up to the player in terms of battle options and exploration.
I can’t guarantee that you will like it, but if gameplay is important to you in an RPG, then you might like FF13’s.
If anything, wait for FF13-2 (tho that one comes out in 2012 for the west) it looks to be a lot better than FF13.
Nier uses gameplay elements existing in other games, so don’t expect it to offer a lot of new gameplay stuff. It is a solid action RPG tho with a very good story.
i think i got both games. i remember playing flower and seeing journey in my list.
also ive noticed that the jpn store has suikoden 1 & 2 as a collection for aboput 600 yen. i dont think suikoden 2 is released on US store yet at all. konami needs to release that game.

Lol that’s actually very common when you play with U2 vets. Back in the day, a lot of people just got a comfortable lead and then camped the last treasure to rack up kills. I’m starting to see it more and more in U3’s beta as well now that the initial wave of beginners has died down and most have gone back to COD. That’s the big drawback of playing with a team where you don’t really know anyone. It’s best to try and run with a team at all times. With randoms, shit rarely gets done. Yesterday, I tried going with randoms and it was annoying as hell. All my teammates were just camping in the other team’s base, waiting to get some easy kills. Others were up on the turret or sniping from some rooftop, just aiming at the other teams treasure chest and waiting for someone to cross their sights. I was the only one trying to get the treasure, so I just gave up and started throwing grenades at my teammates. I feel your pain though.

A month later, played it with 3 other people, had just as much fun.
The game is just too much fun on 4 players and can get really insane with the amount of enemies that come in at you. It’s too bad every time we play, THE GAME SOMEHOW RANDOMLY GLITCHES!!
Game is buggy as fuck, and no, it never did add anymore enjoyment to the experience like other cool bugs do for some games (fuck those bugs).

This whole FF talk is making me think on how many RPG games I play now. I’m on the same boat of others that said “I used to love them, now I can’t play them past an hour”. Hell, I just bought FF7, lost my physical years ago, on PSN, and I haven’t even loaded that shit up past the Playstation symbol.
I guess I’m just into games where I get quick gratification now instead of waiting. Just win/lose now and move on. Then again, I’m playing inFAMOUS, so I don’t know. It’s kinda long.
yeah, rpgs are less enticing as you get older.
my backlog on rpgs probably goes into the 1000’s of hours, and i’m not too eager to whittle that down. its much easier to hop on uc3 beta and kill people and get back to life… save points and time management… get out of here with that shit.

Hah i just finished Infamous 2 and a lot of what i liked about it was that you where boss right from the star. No having to wait for it to get fun like the first game.
