Sarangha: ND, Guerilla games and Santa Monica Studios like to show their knowledge of the PS3 architecture by having the game stream off the disc while writing temp-files on the HDD on the fly. I constantly hear the disc spinning in the PS3 because of this though, and if you pay attention, the HDD is being used constantly. The Uncharted games make my PS3’s BD so loud, I feel like I’m playing on Dreamcast. It doesn’t make the fan run louder or make the console hotter, though.
You can do it in about 2 playthroughs if you research the hell out of the Dark Souls wiki so you know how to nab all the spells/unique items. It took me 2 and a 1/2 playthroughs, though I still think about the game all the time…game is crack. I want to dual whield two Dragon Bone Fists then try and maul people in PvP with them, but I’m too lazy to do so.
Yeah, I don’t get why they took that out either? The game is just full of weird choices. I’d give it a 8/10 I guess, but I’d bump that up to a 9 once they deal with the aiming issues. Shooting at anything really fucking sucked.
Only gripe I had with Batman was the plot was even weirder than U3. I wound up doing a lot of shit, but most of it I didn’t understand why, and it seemed like Batman had his priorities fucked up. Some of the things had me going ??? and I think it would have been better off with less villains appearing, and a stronger central plot. But the gameplay is pretty amazing. I guess that’d get a 9.5/10.
Dark Souls would have taken it probably, if things were more balanced. In the end, the game became a lot of underused options because some things were just such clear winners. Not just with lightning weapons, but with stats, strategies, hell even magic choices. But since the game is still being fine-tuned, I think I’ll come back to it in the future and give it more shots. 9/10
Last game for this year will be Zelda, but I don’t see that passing Batman, also isn’t relevant to this thread (and I played batman on 360 anyway).
Gaming now is weird, with the way that developers can change things up soooooooo much after a game’s release.
Objective GOTY would be Bat, Subjective would be DS. Man U3, what the hell happened?
That is pretty interesting, I remember reading that ND didn’t want to develop any more UC games on PS3. I can see why, yes UC3 looks the best but it’s not an incredible jump from 2. 2 will always be my favorite but I do love the multiplayer in 3.
Catherine was a great puzzle game, but it could have used more gameplay outside of just the puzzles. Cutting some Rapunzel and finding something else, or fleshing out the character interactions more.
Only other game I bought for the year was Infamous 2, and batman shit allllllllllllll over that one.
You should always be able to contact Sony about it, since they keep the transaction records on your account.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who hasn’t received their PSN rebate yet.
A rep said all rebates should go out no later than the 15th…otherwise check back.
I will agree that Catherine was a great puzzle game, outside of that it was complete ass. I skipped every cut scene towards the end, and when the game started to get more “story driven” it just got annoying. I’m glad the whole “get on your cell phone and text” feature was like almost non-existent in the game, even tho it made a big deal about it at the start.
Got an ending, it sucked.
I give the game a 4 out of 20.
Not liking the combined-mode offline coop in U3. I hate Gold Rush. i just want to play Siege, with the battleground moving randomly to different parts of the stage chosen. Why couldn’t they just separate that shit into Siege, Survival, and Gold Rush, THEN give you the option to play all, or any combination of 2?
I thought it was me being crazy, but chapters 8 and 9 look like shit in U3. Almost U1 level character models and animations, and the stage itself isn’t that impressive.
