They need to just do what 1up does and go for letter grades. Much easier and less messy.
Reviews need to ditch the fucking score counters anyway. No 10/10, no 4 stars no letter grades, none of that shit. Just a written review.
Problem is, the crackbaby generation don’t even read the reviews, they only check the number. I forgot where I heard about reviewers putting in a # score, it came from the magazine publisher though. They basically said people pay more attentions to #s, than the review body itself. I agree with them, but the # system is flawed.
I buy all the “good” games that interest me. There is one guy at my job that will tell me his scores when he plays a game, and I laugh inside because a score # is so subjective. You have the wrong guy scoring the game, that could easily be a 3 point swing.
When I look or play the game, I usually say if it’s worth $60 or not to me.
I also know the difference between a bad game, and a game I don’t like.

SFIV died to me when I realized that the cast are a ton of shitty mediocre characters(Hi Oni and E.Ryu) and those that are fundamentally solid were considered too strong.

Which is why they need to get rid of it. Read the actual body of the review, or shut the fuck up. I hate people who spout review scores at me. It doesn’t tell me a fucking thing about the game. I got a guy at work who does that, then i ask him what was good and bad he gives me a blank stare. It honestly makes my brain hurt.

He told me he beat Arkham City. I asked him about some of the side stories, he didn’t even do one.

What a fucking waste. I’m still working on the game myself. I’m at about 61% now. There’s still a lot of Riddler Challenges i haven’t done (Or can’t figure out), and some side quests to do still. One side quest hasn’t even opened up for me yet.
Guys like that are the reason that good games never get real appreciation. The reason every game needs a tacked on online mode, active regen health and a brown hue over everything.
On a less depressing note (or is it more?): Anyone here think the MGS HD Collection’s Special Edition is worth the money?
No.
But I am considering repurchasing Super Metriod on the Wii, in spite of Mii points, and night perfect emulation.

Hell Yeah, I was actually shaking my head. He said he was just rushing through it so he could be ready for Battlefield 3. I don’t know what type of achievement or sense of satisfaction he gets out of that.
I have one “?” side quest that hasn’t opened, and 2 more that haven’t continued(Riddle Hostages & Identity Thief). I have a ton of Riddler challenges, but I pass them up for now if I need to think more than 2 minutes on how to solve them. I will go back, since I scanned all the ones I seen into the map.
At first I had it on my list of buys, but now if I get it, it will be on sale or something. If it comes with Peacewalker, then I will probably get it sooner than later.
I think MGSHD is worth the money if you don’t have the special edition on PS2, or you give half a shit about picture quality. PS2 games look like fucking ass on new TVs. Was playing Wind Waker and had to turn it off cuz the whole screen goes fuzzy more then 10 feet from Link. Drives me fucking insane.
MGS HD comes with the directors cuts of MGS2 and 3, so it has all the VR Missions for 2 and all the updates for 3 (except 3 lacks the Snake Vs. Monkey Mini game) has MG1 and 2 from the MSX, and comes with Peace Walker, up scaled, and the controls optimized for the PS3 controller. Sounds worth it to me.
I can’t remember what mission i don’t have opened yet. I finished the Identity Theif mission finished tho.
I surmise MGO isn’t included with Subsistence either.

I’ve never played mgs3 so I’ll be getting the mgs hd collector’s edition

Depends on you: If you have MGS2 and 3, and are content with the copies you have, then you don’t need to get the HD Collection.
The versions in the HD Collection are the Sub. versions BTW.
Finally, the HD Collections will have: MG 1 and 2 (original MSX versions), MGS 2 Sub, MGS 3 Sub, MGS PW and MAYBE a code to get MGS1 off US PSN.

I have seen other people say it’s coming with MGS download voucher on other sites, nothing noted for North America.
I already own and don’t play the MGS essential collection, but might pick this one up since it has Peace Walker, which I own on PSP already.
