Actually, I would say both American Goalies and Canadian Goalies were almost on Par. Except Campbell. he made some killer saves, and his fish-flipping techniques saved the day for the US for sure.
The big thing USA did to beat us Canucks was take advantage of our Defencive lines. Aside from Pietrangelo, Canadian defence was slow, and only did an above the call of duty job of moving the puck while in possession. Countless times in both games, were the US offensive lines able to read the passes and break up the attack, and more often than not, get those odd man rushes that the goalies had little opportunities to stop. When the puck got cleared, the Defence always looked desperate to ward off the US attacker who chased. The D should have no room for giving up a puck they’re ahead of an attacker for, but the US made it dangerous way too many times
It showed when Pietrangelo went to the sin bin for the charging call (BS IMO, but thats the sport), US scored no problem. Our D was not Deep. You might even say there was no D in our Depth, so we only had Epth. Thank you, thank you.
USA Defence were very gritty and took a lot of hits and went in to nasty areas. And they had to. Canada’s forwards were our clutch this year. Granted we didn’t cycle unless it was 5 on 4 hockey. But in most cases, Juniors are all about the exciting dash, play shoot attack offence.
I think this is great news for the US team, and hockey as a sport in general. I’m sad the Canadians lost after my boy Ebs brought it back to a cunthair of a game, but if more yanks keep proving they can play that well, then the sport will be more exciting in general
Edit: sorry for wall of text. I just don’t like when the goaltender is always blamed for goals.
Anyone else catch the Wild vs. Blackhawks last night? Wild tied it in the third from a 5-1 score and won in an 8 round shoot out. One of the best games I’ve ever seen. WOOOO!
I went to a thrashers game a week ago and had a blast. I have not been to an NHL game before, I went to minor league games in the past. I want to keep up with the league more but with no cable, I know of no other way to watch the games.
Shit, even those of us with cable have no way of keeping up with games on TV because we don’t get Versus. I use this site instead. You’ll need software to view the streams unless their on websites. Yahoo has live games on during the season too.
Gonna miss you, JS. As far as I’m concerned, your 2003 postseason play was the best in NHL history. You’ve played 250+ minutes of playoff overtime in your NHL career, and you’ve given up only 1 goal in that whole time. Best of luck with the Toronto Ex-Ducks.
But I’m still confused. Toskala isn’t gonna start in front of Hiller, so we’re basically trading backups, and Jason Blake might be useful because the Ducks are pretty short on left wings. I kinda want to think this is a salary dump, but Blake is pretty expensive himself. So what’s the motivation on Anaheim’s part? Is having Jason Blake so important?
It is salary. Yeah, the Ducks added $2 million in cap spending right now, but spending $7 million on a backup goalie in Giguere is pure stupidity. Since Toskala is a UFA after this season, that frees up a lot of money for the Ducks towards next season to spend on backing up Hiller and filling whatever holes in the lineup they have.
Hurricanes, what the fuck. I’m serious. What the FUCK. All season long you’ve been a disappointment. I didn’t think you could sink lower than losing to the Maple Leafs to take over their spot in last place in the conference. Or lower than that 14-game losing streak. But last night, last night you had the fucking audacity to give the Oilers their first win in over a fucking MONTH!
Ha I feel like the worlds turned upside down, I’m a Canucks fan and they disappoint year in year out, but this season they’re pretty hot already. Now everyone else is complaining about how bad their teams are.
Listening to the game on the radio now, 2-1 for the canadiens but we came back 5-3 on the leafs so we’ll see how this goes.
GO NUCKS.
