And if they don’t get the cup this year they’re fucked for the next two years. Talk about going all in pre-flop with Ace/Queen off suited.
Has the leafs been doing good during the pre-season ? I didn`t see them in action yet. First match of the season will be Leafs VS. Habs. Get HYPE ! Both team did some major changes during summer.
Can`t wait to see the puck hit the ice thursday !!!
Contraction is always a last resort, and no I don’t believe it is going to happen.
As far as Betteman goes…look at where the league was when he took over as compared to now. He has improved the NHL overall. Did he over expand? Yes. But he still gave us more new franchises that have worked then failed.
The Sens!
I’m expecting some more mediocrity this season, especially now that Heatley is gone. To be honest, I still haven’t fully recovered from our Stanley Cup loss to the Ducks.
I guess you’re not a big fan of sarcasm or subtlety. Columbus is much more likely to win the cup than the Leafs. Why so salty?
See? This guy gets it!
Now this guy - real fucking Leaf fan right here. The Leafs could have a team consisting of octopi thrown on the ice by Detroit fans and we still think we’ll win the cup.
Any team could surprise - thanks parity. There were major signings here and there (Kovalev, Pronger, Gaborik(!)) that could turn teams upside downs.
Two years ago, so-called “experts” had predicted Montreal out of the playoffs. Yet they won their conference. Last year, not many gave Boston much chance before the season, and mid-season, Pittsburgh was all but dead and buried. Who would have thought Carolina would eliminate Boston?
Still, I wouldn’t take a bet for Toronto
If I had to predict anything, I’d have to go Pittsburgh or Washington in the East and Detroit or Chicago in the West. Pittsburgh and Washington met and had a very good series, and I’d be surprised if any of these four don’t make at least the second round of the playoffs (unless they meet in the first). Their core players are relatively unchanged and they should be contenders, barring any major injuries.
Edit: Corrected mix-up.
Good lord it’s gonna be great - my pool does it’s draft in a bar on the first Leafs game every year. First 6 rounds go by quick but when the alcohol starts flowing it seems every round is doubled in time.
Also looking forward to catching the Leafs play at the Bell Centre - wearing a Leafs jersey in Montreal while walking to, from and inside the arena is probably the most fun I’ve ever had as a Leaf fan. Montreal fans are excellent at shit-talking.
Yeah walking in Montreal with a leafs jersey is freaking dangerous. It’s just asking for an ass stomp.
It’s not so bad. I’ve only gotten into one incident and it was resolved pretty quickly. It’s the energy in the air that makes it a kickass experience - something about that air in Montreal. Must be the stimutacs.
Believe it or not, the vast majority of people are pleased to see Leaf fans (gives them something to hate) and in the past I even had drinks and went clubbing with a few.
Philly fans, however, are fucking nuts. Sucker punches from behind, throwing beer and getting gang stomped in the washrooms. Rangers are up there too.
Not really. Every time there’s a game in Montreal or Toronto between the teams, half the arena is red and half is blue. Montreal-Toronto rivalry is pretty tame, although a lot of that is because the Leafs sucked bad for the last decade or so. Montreal-Boston is a little dirtier.
It’s nowhere near Habs-Nordiques of the old days
pretty sure wearing anything but a flyers jersey in the 70s and 80s in the spectrum was the most dangerous
Probably still is. Loudest fans by a mile.
i hear everywhere being the loudest, but thats only during playoffs
so ill say edmonton for consistency, since playoffs are rare for us :lovin:
Got this from HF…

Pretty relevant to our discussion the other day.
fucking Pronger…
its ok
im first and foremost a wings fan (since '94, no bandwagoning plz)
but i will only cheer against the red and white if its a playoff series against edmonton, or if the wings dont make playoffs and oilers are (ya that will happen hah)
so yes, i cheer for wings most of the time
but there is a part of me that really wants the oilers to bring one home in the next 10 years…
Sundin has officially retired. Also, Season starts tomorrow, Go NUCKS!
Is anybody else checking their fantasy team?
sorry for the late response. but I disagree.
Since Bettman has joined (1992-1993), We have the Ottawa (92-93, 1 finals appearance, 562-548-115-57), Tampa (92-93, 1 Championship, 470-635-113-64), Anaheim (93-94, 1 Championship, 1 Finals appearance, 475-474-107-54), Florida (93-94, 1 Finals appearance, 473-502-142-81), Nashville (98-99, 364-342-60-54), Atlanta (99-00, 273-367-45-53), Minnesota (00-01, 293-255-55-53), and Columbus (00-01, 206-294-33-41). Out of those, the teams in Financial trouble are Tampa, Florida, Atlanta, Nashville, and possible Columbus (as a consenus amongst us, although I disagree). thats 5 out of 8. And then you have the re-located franchises (Winnipeg > Phoenix, Minnesota > Dallas, Quebec > Colorado , Hartford > Carolina), of which you pull the Phoenix franchise out of, and possibly Carolina (again, consensus). 7 out of 12 Franchises that arent doing so well that were created or moved in the Bettman Era.
