You know the funny thing? If Rice does end up Blackballed or banned, his wife probably WILL file for divorce now.
I’m not a lawyer, but can’t Ray Rice sue for wrongful termination? I know that the league has a “double Jeopardy” clause where if the league takes action against a player the the team can’t and vice versa.
The irony here is that the team cutting him could make things really dangerous for his wife. I think in consideration of her it would have been safer for the team to force him into treatment.
If the League can prove that they did not have this video when they laid down the punishment, no he cannot. The Ravens certainly didn’t have this video most likely as well. Cases are reopened due to new evidence being introduced.

Now basically it’s all about proof. If the League can prove they did not see the video prior to today they could feasibly ban Rice. Indefinite Suspension is well within the rules when new evidence comes up so Rice can’t countersuit yet.
However, if proof falls that the NFL DID see this video prior, not only can Rice countersue them, Goodell would likely have to be immediately removed from his position.

last year he hurt his hip something that he never truly recovered from. then he hit his wife and tried to sweep it under the rug got suspended 2 games the topic gets revisited and out he goes
not defending him because this was rough

CFL is most definitely taking Ray Rice.
Also, Double Jeopardy doesn’t count for the Ravens releaseing him.
It’s the league that punished him already, so most likely they couldn’t do anything else. But this is the Ravens first punishment against him.
Well then as terrible as this whole thing is, at least SOME good would come of it with Goodell being forced to step down. He needs to go. Not straight to jail like Rice, but he still need to go.
CFL won’t take Rice as long as he’s under suspension anyway. They stopped doing that after Ricky Williams.

If it’s found out that the NFL did see it, while Goodell would be gone…Rice would be able to countersue, probably win his appeal and get back into the NFL.
