The Official NFL 2014-2015 Season Thread: Fantasy football time! Post if you want in!

Man, Geno Smith looks worse than Mark Sanchez lol and he thought he was #1 Pick worthy.

“Man, {rookie quarterback playing his second NFL game ever, still during preseason} looks worse than {five year veteran quarterback}”

you don’t say

If we were talking any other QB, I’d agree, but… Mark Sanchez, Warp. When you look worse than Sanchez, you probably suck and will continue to suck in perpetuity…

You don’t just go I should have been #1, he should have been glad he got drafted in the 1st Place before he thinks he’s worth being picked #1.

This is so stupid. Hey, remember when Cam Newton was throwing picks and completing less than 50% of his passes in preseason? He just went on to have the biggest statistical first REAL game ever. Remember when Peyton Manning threw 28 picks his first season, a number that Mark Sanchez, as bad as he is, has yet to approach? Guess he’ll never amount to anything, huh?

I mean, I know it’s fun to mash on the HURR MARK SANCHEZ BAD button, but come the hell on. A rookie quarterback struggling in his first real action against NFL players in a game that doesn’t even fucking count is pretty much meaningless.

Hey Todd Marinovich did a great job in his first real action against NFL players.

RGIII starting Week 1 in Regular Season.

The problem Geno Smith has is that he is playing for the New York Jets.

Pretty much those first two season when the Jets were good, I say it was all due to the offensive line protecting the QB and creating run lanes even a LT in his twilight could run through. Once the offensive line went to shit the true colors of that Jets offense were revealed as was the lack of growth Sanchez actually had since he was drafted. Geno Smith probably would have been better off getting picked up by any other team save the Raiders because even if he starts or doesn’t his first year he won’t learn shit about how to be a good QB in the NFL from the organization that drafted him.

Geno’s gonna spend most of his time running for his life out there… and that’s if he even gets to start, because we all know how Rex has a hard-on for Sanchez.
But when that O-line/Sanchez’s typical terrible perfomance gets Geno shoved out there in Week 5 or 6, the kid’s gonna be hurting.

I don’t even think Geno is worth talking about. He wasn’t impressive to me at WV and he hasn’t looked impressive in any of his preseason starts. Even Sanchez had some impressive plays early before NY got in his head.

The well Peyton lost 14 games or w/e argument doesn’t work because people could still see the talent and the intelligence.

I don’t mean to bury Geno too early for sure give him a chance, but nobody seems to be impressed with him so far. I don’t think Rex makes it far through this season and I would expect a new coach to blow this team up including Geno when he comes in.

He gets the 1st round rookie NY QB perk. It’s pretty common for major cities but in NY its sometimes blindly given.

In retrospect, I can see how WV’s receiving corps made Geno look good last year. Although I thought he was #1 pick material at one point, now he just reminds me of Quincy Carter.

EDIT: My other league has its online draft 15 minutes before League 2’s draft. Time to get the multitask on.

This is pretty much all stupid. How are you gonna say an argument doesn’t work when you don’t even know what it was? Peyton is just one of a gazillion examples of quarterbacks struggling out of the gate and eventually getting better. “You could see the talent and the intelligence” is a copout. Geno Smith may or may not turn out to be any good, but it won’t be because he struggled in 40 preseason plays.

speaking of rookie quarterback performances in preseason, name that quarterback based on these stats:

24 of 50, 257 yards, 0 TDs, 5 INTs, 8 sacks

gotta start dat ghostcollusion google doc

My main point which was missed is I haven’t heard anything good about him from his team like he has good decision making or a strong arm. They could at least sell Jamarcus Russels arm strength. I mean he had an 80% completion in college for a time. He is he is around 50% right now.

I mean ill state this again for sure give the man a chance to prove himself, BUT for now I don’t see any reason to talk or get hype about this dude. It’s just the same NY BS.

Well the thing about Geno was that he was considered a good QB at WVU until the game last season against the Maryland Terrapins (Go Terps!). After that game they said Geno fell off even though he has a productive season. That’s why he got drafted when he did.

He got drafted where he did because a late 1st/high 2nd is about where his value is. That’s a high value. The QB talent in this draft was pretty far beneath the previous two drafts (and this upcoming draft), and those drafts still had playoff starters coming out of the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

People seriously overestimate the scouting value of single game performances like that. It counts, but not for that much. It’s kind of like how people kept talking about how Matt Barkley would have gone top 10 if he came out last year, yet he got picked in the 4th this year. He didn’t fall to the 4th round, he was a 3rd-4th round prospect the whole time. He’s a short quarterback with below average arm strength, limited athleticism, and questionable size, and his primary strength is accuracy, which may not translate to the NFL level. Geno Smith is a guy who has arm strength, knowledge of the game, and above average athleticism, but he played in a system with a lot of bubble screens and short passes that inflated his completion %, and he has to show he can make the tough throw in traffic or accurately deliver a sideline pass with velocity and accuracy in the 10-20 yard range while under pressure at NFL game speed. Throwing picks in preseason in a brand new offense that he’s never played before against the highest level of competition he’s ever seen is not a warning sign; it’s to be expected. From there, you watch for adjustment and learning. That’s how development goes.

By the way, the numbers I posted above? Colin Kaepernick.

Anything is possible.

ok, I’m done worrying about the 49ers WRs but, which ones do they keep?

geno may turn out to be ok. Sanchez not so much.

so andre brown done? David Wilson got the backfield to himself now, gonna be amazing for fantasy, that guy is explosive.
