One of the funny thing of the Jay Cutler event is that, so many non Bears fans get out and point fingers at him before the natural of the injury was event know. I guess that’s just hate.
I just see it the logical way, yeah many players can play with MCL, but Cutler was playing pretty bad at the beginning of the game already, then he got injury, bad level of performance + injury = worst performance, why would you throw a useless QB out on the field in a NFCC game? Bears’s 3rd QB played better (imo atleast) then Cutler anyways.
I know I’m a few days late to the party, but I just found out a few minutes ago. I am completely shocked that the Titans got rid of Fisher. I never thought it would happen. I always kind of liked the guy as a head coach, even though he coached for the hated Titans, and won’t be surprised if he gets a new head coaching job very quickly.
I definitely thought Cutler quit. When I heard from Fox that the Bears listed him as Questionable to return, I took that as “he’s hurt, but there’s a possibility of him returning”. And as long as there was a possibility, I thought he should’ve been out there. Then when it came out that he had a Grade II MCL Sprain (which is a tear, technically), I retracted my previous venom.
I will say this though, I don’t know what it feels like to play football in the NFL. I certainly don’t know what it feels like to play football in the NFL when I’ve sprained my MCL. However, past and present NFL players do, especially those that have played through MCL sprains, so I take their comments to heart far more than anyone elses. Of all the interviews and comments I’ve read, the vast majority of them played. Even the QBs that “support” Cutler’s decision to not play say that if they were in the exact same situation (with some of them having been), they would have played. That isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement I’m hearing.
So you can either look at those players’ comments one of two ways; 1.) they are just haters talking shit because they don’t like Cutler as a human being, or 2.) they are telling it like it is and it isn’t an uncommon thing to have a player play through a sprained MCL. Could be a little of both I suppose, but now that the questions have been raised and doubts cast, Cutler has done nothing to defend himself. If I was a Bears fan, that’s what I’d be most disappointed in; you lost the game, but you feel like you’ve lost far more with a QB that shrivels up on the field as well as off of it.
And that’s Cutler’s problem. If he would’ve went out, gutted it out, at least finished the game, sure, he might’ve been bad, but once people saw the injury, he wouldn’t have been demonized.
Now, not only does he look like a wuss, with his previous attitude problems, the THIRD STRINGER with no prior practice to that game outplayed him.
Cutler better be careful he doesn’t lose his job…especially considering Lovie’s precedence.
Yup, and the coaching staff made the right choice to pull a QB that cannot perform. Unless you are Vikings + Brett Favre I guess, keep limping and throw picks+the game away and the fans will still have your back because of ‘toughness’.
But of course, Culter isn’t helping himself in this case.
I’m just saying that he should’ve either, one, made more of an effort to at least LOOK like he’s trying his damndest to get back in the game, or two, NOT STAND AND WALK AROUND.
Limp around severely, stay sitting or laying, do SOMETHING that projects a serious injury. I don’t care if he’s faking the pain, at least it would ease the minds of the fans.
I agree that his body language and demeanor was pretty lousy and did not effectively convey the pain that he was feeling, but at the same time, I’m thinking that “how is this going to look on TV?” was the last thought on his mind.
Trust me, I dislike all things Chicago Bears more than most football fans, but I try to stay objective as possible (postgame euphoria-induced trash talking excluded) and I can honestly say that Jay Cutler has done many things wrong in his career, but this was not one of them. Yes, it would help if he did some damage control now and defended himself, but he’s been vocal about stuff in the past (Denver trade) and that didn’t work out so well in terms of his public image, so I’m assuming he’s just not going to say shit, let it die down once the Super Bowl draws nearer, then try to get shit fixed for next season. Cutler is a 27 year old multi-millionaire starting QB for a NFL team, dating a smoking hot Hollywood socialite; I’m guessing this nonsense is placed low on his list of things to worry about.
Ninja Rodgers near the bottom is the absolute best. Jordy Nelson recently said in an interview that Aaron is the king of pranks; he puts powder in helmets, duct-tapes entire doorways shut at Nobert College during training camp, etc.
Busting out his teammates like that is retarded. He doesn’t make many mistakes, but this is definitely one them. Just keep your mouth shut, focus on the task at hand, then work that shit our behind closed doors. Airing out locker room stuff to the media (interviews, Twitter, etc) is just asking for trouble and hurt feelings.
EDIT: You can definitely tell that this is the Packers first time around (twitter, photo fiasco, Rodgers publicly calling teammates out, etc) and the Steelers are just going about their business, focused.
I actually like Rodger’s stance, he all “hey when i wasn’t nothin but a piece of shit, I hung around, put in my time, didnt do no fruity “rehab” at home or somethin etc…” it is kind of high horsey but i can see where he is comin from
he probably didn’t have a kickin home to go to either though being such as a small child
The problem is that when Rodgers was on IR, there weren’t 15 other players also on IR. According to the Packers, they only have 3 full-time trainers on staff (average I believe for NFL teams). 3 trainers, 16 total IR players, on top of the active players that get injured and receive priority treatment. I’d go home too if I was on IR and couldn’t rehab. Basically, Rodgers needs to stfu, not air out locker-room stuff to the media, and focus on beating the Steelers; he shouldn’t even be thinking about the IR players when he has a Steelers defense to think about…
