Wow, how convenient to use the Superbowl as an argument, especially since the Saints JUST won it. Let’s not also forget that the Texans are a fucking 8 year old team. You’re right when you can’t exactly match the stats of two different positions, but you can compare dominance on the field. Williams is one of the leaders in his position, Bush is mid tier, at best. Reggie Bush had a couple of good runs in the Superbowl season, that’s it. That whole team was based on Drew Brees throwing to mediocre ass receivers, and Darren Sharpers getting lucky/playing idiots. If he’s so fucking versatile, and so respectful, why don’t the Saints play him more? Being a “Passing” team, doesn’t excuse the lack of playing a specific RB. His versatility was one of his key factors, yet you barely ever see that. Oh my god, Reggie Bush is going to fucking go deep! Too bad the ball never fucking goes his way. This whole versatility thing can be applied to DeSean Jackson, yet unlike Bush, DeSean actually does shit for his team. No, DeSean actually does shit period. I hope Reggie Bush can fucking burn DB’s given enough space, that’s what a fucking player who has speed is supposed to do. AKA Most running backs.
The TDs and shit he had last season are masked by the team as a whole winning the Superbowl, and of course when I mean as a whole, I mean Drew Brees. Calvin Johnson has led the league in TDs in a season before, I guess that doesn’t make an impact right? Oh of course, it only matters when the team is already fucking winning. If you want to talk about a single offensive player making an impact based on yards and touchdowns that isn’t a QB, go look at Larry Fitzgerald.
Yeah but Jacobs will get the ball in short yardage situations. He’ll probably be their big end-zone threat, so you may get a few TD’s if he stays healthy.
I can see now that you’re one of them haters who can’t accept the facts and therefore you surround yourself in a little bubble full of hatred…and mediocre recievers? Lol. Buddy you’ve been sipping on the hatorade too god damn long. Playing idiots? Uh…Brett Farve, Kurt Warner, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, and Tom Brady are idiots? Uh…right…and OH! If the Saints recievers are sooooooooo mediocre tell me why the saints busted a hole in the Pats ass, and why the Saints are the SB champs? Remember homie, a quarter back don’t win a superbowl, but he can damn sure help.
So I can see that you ignored the other parts of my argument, and went for the only one you can find an excuse for, a shitty one at that. Marques Colston, Robert Meachem, Lance Moore and the others are mediocre ass QBs and you fucking know it. QB’s can make their receivers look good, and vice versa. If they didn’t have Drew Brees throwing at them, they wouldn’t be shit. Calvin Johnson, that’s a fucking receiver, and he shows it despite playing for the Lions.
Good job only naming the good QB’s that the Saints Defense had to play, because we all know that Matt Stafford, Kevin Kolb, Trent Edwards/Ryan Fitzpatrick, Mark Sanchez, Chad Henne/Pennington, Jake Delhomme during his shitty year which he got cut for, Marc Bulger and whoever the fuck the QB for the Bucs at the time was. Oh yeah, those guy don’t fucking count right? Just because a receiving corp is mediocre doesn’t mean they can’t win the fucking Superbowl, remember the Ravens of 2001? Or the Bucs of 2003? Don’t think that because the Saints won it, that they’re the best, most well rounded team overall in the league. A Superbowl win does not signify that your receiving team is godlike, the receivers are mediocre at best and you’d be biased to think otherwise. Instead of telling me to get off my nonexistent bubble and to stop drinking the hatorade, maybe you need to actually go see how your team actually plays. You know, there’s something behind every win, like how they fucking got it and what their performances were.
Did anyone read those walls of text? Bush has been hurt a lot, but I think the Saints did well with the pick he can change games with big plays and if anything he has sold a lot of jerseys and was one of the first things the Saints got hype about for a while.
lol the Bush pick kinda sucked. Just off the top of my head, from that draft class: D’Brick, Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie, Vernon Davis, AJ Hawk, Cutler, VY, Devin Hester, Devin Aromashadou, DeAngelo Williams, Brandon Marshall, Greg Jennings, Marques Colston, Marcus McNeil, Nick Mangold, D’Qwell Jackson, DeMeco Ryan, Jerome Harrison, and Joseph Addai. lol that’s off the top of my head, I’m sure I’m missing a bunch of people.
That draft class was LOADED. To get Reggie Bush out of that? Haha. All those dudes above are better, a bunch of those guys are total serious game changers or serious full time starters. Of course they couldn’t draft Mario Williams, but people said the Texans were stupid to make that pick. Maybe you can make an argument that Bush was a better pick than some of those guys up there, but the vast majority of them are so much better than him. The Saints did get Colston, really late too, so they did come away well from that draft. But they could have been even more beastly, can you imagine a Greg Jennings-Marques Colston duo for Brees to throw to? It’s so ridiculous it’s funny. Or how about V-Davis? You remember Brees throwing to Gates right? It’d be even stupider after Brees leveled up and on that offense.
Personally, I hate Reggie Bush. I hate him for one reason and one reason only: Madden football. For somebody who gets anywhere between 400-600 yards from the line of scrimmage a season he is absolutely impossible to tackle. I was always the Ravens last year, my roomie from Los Angeles was always the Saints. Our games would go like this:
(Roomie has the ball and subs in Reggie Bush the third string back) Run between the tackles with Reggie Bush? Sure why not. This man is built for the power game. Take on Ray Lewis in the hole then proceed to shed him like he’s a JV bench player? No problem, he only has 99 tackling–but that doesn’t matter. Then proceed to truck stick Suggs, Reed, and Ngata on his way to a 60 yard romp? Only because hes that damn good in real life. Why isn’t he starting?
Rinse and repeat. Impossible to stop. He’s going to break at least 2-3 of those a game. Bullshit.
Speaking in terms of his ability in real life, Reggie is a good player. He’s not great. I don’t think he ever will be great, just like what Mr. Mamation said.
If that truly is off the top of your head then Good Knowledge to you sir.
bush is way more dangerous when people put him in the slot or even worse, solo wide opposite of trips. i know he has 99 btk, i think his speed is 95+ as well.
I heard they went and nerfed speed and other ratings hardcore in the new madden. Which is good. Now 92 or 93 is top end speed from what I hear. They made up for it with “accurate” acceleration and deceleration physics. I haven’t played it so I don’t know if its true or not. I have nobody to play in Madden up in Nor Cal so I’m not that interested.
He only scored what 4 or 5 times last year :bluu: I hope you’re right…
+1. I don’t know if I see it being that was for Jacobs. I hope he’s given plenty of goal line chances this year.
EDIT: Regarding Reggie Bush, I was hoping that he would have been better surrounding the hype when he left USC. Fpr what it’s worth, I felt Bush had more of an impact his rookie year when the Saints went to the NFC championship than when they won the SB last year. Bush is pretty good–not a bad RB to have if you’re going to run a trick play every so often or have him return kicks in the playoffs as a big threat kind of guy, but to put him in the backfield and give him 20-30 carries a game? Nope. And I kind of thought he’d be that type of guy when he made it to the NFL.
All said and done, would I like to have him on my team? Sure, why not? But let’s be honest, he’s not the RB we thought he would be.
Jacobs isn’t the same any more. Like it was mentioned earlier, Jacobs has all the tendencies of a runner who runs himself out of the league.
He runs up high. He doesn’t make guys miss. He meets EVERY tackler head on instead of getting skinny to avoid the big hit. Doesn’t get out of bounds (then again I don’t think he ever was told to run off tackle).
It’s no secret as to why the shelf life of some NFL RB’s are so low. These guys are work horses.
That was the only draft I really paid attention to, amazingly enough. I just remembered two more: Owen Daniels and Winston Justice. That’s probably the entire list of relevant players from that draft now.
That draft was so hyped, I spent months looking at the scouting reports and everything. At the time I was posting on a football board where everyone was really serious about it, looking back I would bet that at least some of those people must have been employed by NFL teams or college teams for talent evaluation. It was like being in some sort of NFL scouting department with all the info people were throwing around and all the resources they’d link you to. So I wound up becoming sort of an expert on that draft, all those names up there I knew about because I’d heard them so much and read so many reports on them.
I don’t know if that board is like that every year or not, that’s the only time I was on it, and now I don’t even remember the url or what it was called.
