The OFFICIAL "New To Shoryuken.com? Say Hello!" THREAD

Wazzup y’all. I’m new here. What’s crackin’?

Derp, I almost never post in these. My bad. Got a lot of online nicks, but the most common on the one one regged here. I forgot exactly when and why I registered here but oh well. I’d say I’m new to fighting games in general, but I did play a lot of Sonic the Fighters/Sonic Championship if that counts for anything.

A couple of friends offline got me into Street Fighter last year, and I liked the games enough where I started to really get into it. At the moment, I’m not very good, but I’m always looking to improve. I won’t cry when you beat the crap out of me (and I’d prefer if you didn’t hold back =P)

I have SSFIV, VF5 Online, MvC2, DBZ: Burst Limit, Sonic the Fighters, and DBZ: BT3. The ones I spend the most time with are the Capcom ones. My mains are Juri and Dudley for Street Fighter, and B.B.Hood and Rogue for MvC2

Hi all, new to the forum but not particularly to SF. Have been playing since SF2 came out in arcades, but haven’t played too seriously since SFA3. Getting into SSF4 in a reasonably substantial manner though. Still play some Alpha and HDR on the side. Keen for friendly matches. In Australia for those worried about network connections. Look forward to taking part in forums. Cheers.

Hey all, been playing fighters since SSF2 on the SNES. Decided to actually get good at them since SFIV came out, so I joined SRK. Let me know if anyone wants to fight a scrubby Cammy on Live.

Hello to everybody at SRK. Been playing SF since the mid 90s but I have only recently started playing seriously when vanilla SF4 came. Shout outs to everybody in Oshawa (if there is anybody that is) hit me up for some casuals. I main Guile.

Hey everyone!

I’m new to the whole fighting genre and I’ve never actually taken it that seriously before. I used to play MvC back at a laundromat when I was a kid (born in '91 :P) and that was my first experience with fighting games. I played teken/bodukai on the ps2 but never really played any fighting games in this generation. When MvC2 went onto XBLA I grabbed it asap and started to play that, although I’m not every good. I want to get better so I got myself a stick in preparation for MvC3. I also went ahead and ordered SSFIV, I had SFIV but I didn’t really play it and I lost the disk. They’re both currently on their way and I should be able to pick them up soon. My gameratag is forbidden xrd add me if you want to play some friendly matches in MvC2

Hope to learn a lot from everyone here!

Hi everyone. I’ve been dabbling with fighters since Hyper Fighting and MK2. Used to love SFA3 but I fell out of that into sports games and now I’m back into fighters with SSF4. The game’s amazing, but the advanced techniques and combos have been defeating me; I’ve been a defensive player for so long seeing so much offense has been a great shock. LOL. Plus, retraining myself for fighting games has been challenging.

That said, Akuma has always been a favourite and I’m trying to learn him all over again. It’s been a struggle, and will get even more interesting when i get my first fightstick in nearly 15 years… but I’m looking forward to it.

Now if only I can get that darned FADC thing done right… :wgrin:

Hello!

My name is Chris, I’m relatively new to playing fighting games super competitively. I’m mostly used to playing against friends and just having fun. However my friend and I got into MvC2 when it was released on the Xbox Live Arcade, and now with MvC3 coming out and hearing about this site quite a bit I figured I would join.

I hope to just be decent enough to have fun and win some matches, and if I go to tournaments and do okay that would be fun too. I would love to be able to do well in tournaments, as well as just have some friendly casual matches. My gamertag is Enter Xandman, so anyone can feel free to message me on there, and just let me know you’re from this forum and I’ll be more then happy to accept and play anything so long as I own it.

Hey all, name is Chris but you can call me Soul.
Been long time Fighter fan way back as a kid with Super Turbo and such in random arcades and on SNES (Added MvC2 at assorted Pizza joints but you get the gist) though I never really got that interested until Soul Calibur II hit in 03 on Consoles, specifically the Gamecube version.
I kept up with the SC series until IV, but was pretty disappointed. Like many, when Vanilla SFIV came out, I got pretty hyped. But I fell out of it after a while.

SO finally, when SSFIV came out last year, I said “What the hell” and cop’d it, especially for the Price. Haven’t got all that serious, but I play it at least a few times a week. Still scrubing it up though, and I hope to pick up a Stick soon.
Besides SSFIV, other Fighters I’ve got are SSFII Turbo HD Remix and MvC2 both on PSN. And I’m looking forward to MvC3 as well.

Hello!

Hi,

My name is Thjodbjorn. I am a long-time occasional lurker. I started lurking more consistently when I was looking into new sticks after I getting annoyed with my fightstick SE (I was trying to swap the seimitsu back to a sanwa, after deciding I preferred the sanwa).

I have been playing fighting games since SFII. I had started getting really into shmups last spring, and I’m just now starting back up with SSFIV.

I’ve never been terribly good, hovering around 50% wins online lately, which I’ll take. I haven’t gone to any of the local Games N Go tourneys, as it’s sort of a pain to get out to Rosedale, but I’d like to try sometime.

Edited due to name change, heh.

Hello,

My name is Vincent, I’m from Hong Kong
I play Street Fighter since the original street fighter where you can simply use SRK to dominate the whole game.
it’s been 20 years something until now.
I played Street Fighter II and IIX causally in arcades.
did play some Alpha series too but nothing really being competitive.

I started to play seriously since SF3 2nd Impact(Yun, Oro, Dudley)
and to the 3rd strike(Ibuki, Yun, Dudley) I kept play seriously and ended up I am known one of the best Dudley in my region.
and since 2004 I quited playing games, you know life’s errand.

and 2 months ago my old SF3 playmates bugging me join them play SSF4 and then I pick up back my old faithful Dudley and try to catch up since then.
I now still try to get used to SF4 mechanic, which is far different from the SF3 mechanic I used to.
I will still play seriously this time but not that competitive like I used to, since I can’t really afford to play 8 hours each day like I used to.

Street Fighter really a great game, hope every SRK fellas would enjoy playing it!

I especially want to thanks Vesperarcade youtube channel
http://www.youtube.com/user/VesperArcade

greatest SF4 tutorial ever, from the basic to the pro level technique, all got covered.
I seriously recommend to the SF fellas who like to play good, then watch this channel!
