The Official NBA 2014-2015 Thread: Simp City

It’s really sad they put up those signs. Inflate their egos more why don’t you.

This man’s mentality and the ability to lead crafting a family like team is why LeBron will stay in Miami.

Pau Gasol got a call from the Heat yesterday

The offseason narrative, from a Rockets fan perspective:

“The Rockets are ass, they need better players.”

“The Rockets should be ashamed of themselves for trying everything they can to bring in better players.”

“Jeremy Lin should take offense that the Rockets put up a sign with Melo in a Rockets jersey that happened to have his number. Obviously there’s only one #7 in the entire league, ever. Everyone who’s ever played always wore a number nobody has ever worn.”

“I can’t believe the Rockets would photoshop Melo holding a trophy in a Rockets uniform. How outrageous and uncalled for. They should have photoshopped him holding a championship trophy in a Heat jersey instead, duh.”

Nobody’s begging a player to stay, we’re just trying to make Melo feel like we want him and would be a good choice. Daryl Morey, for as slimy and conniving as he is, is a smart GM who landed Harden by surprise and Howard when everybody was after him. He’s not Dan Gilbert, Donald Sterling, James Dolan, or Jim Buss. He and Leslie Alexander put together an organization capable of not only attracting talent, but cultivating it with players like Terrence Jones, Parsons, and Trey Daniels. The recruiting process is much less dignified in college, where players are essentially bribed into a decision. This is what free agency is about anyway. If everything was done behind closed doors and nobody said anything players might feel like maybe that organization didn’t really want them that much if it had to be a secret.

Kings fan here if you’re updating

Still hoping teams aren’t looking to pay Isaiah Thomas big money so we can keep him. At the very least if he goes, i hope we can get Rondo for him.

I’ve heard the rumors and it makes sense for both teams. Rondo is exactly what the Kings need. That and some national games so people realize how much of a beast Cousins has been over the past 3 seasons.

I thought that trade was going to happen at the draft

It’s worse to try and lure a player with signs than trying to keep them with signs. Just my opinion.

But dayam, it sucks to be Lin. Not like he specifically demanded that contract. Blame your front office, Houston fans.

Houston and Chicago simping over Melo worst than Robin Thicke simping over Paula.

These contracts are ridic.

Can’t wait for Miami to end up w/ leftovers

Looking at Lin’s contract, are there any rules/guidelines for backloaded contracts? Can it be used as a workaround to sign good players?

For example, can Bosh and another player do something like $7-8mil the first year, $10-12mil the 2nd, and $15-$16mil the 3rd year, etc.? Obviously, things would start to blow up into luxury tax during later years. But if a team wants to sign players now (and perhaps to win now), and deal with that money stuff later, is that allowed?

Bosh wanting 11,16, or 18 million? Big ass gaps son. I can see him getting 13 athe most

The point is the media is making up all kinds of numbers and throwing them out there as rumors.

That’s why I’m 50/50 on free agency. Everything you hear/read gotta be taken with grains of salt until a contract is actually signed.

The Lin contract is a loophole used involving restricted free agents with under 3 years of service going into their second contract.

Seriously. 0 hype or excitement.

Here’s the excitement you requested.
