The Official NBA 2014-2015 Thread: Simp City

bye melo i wont miss you, GTFO. knicks will live on. although there is still the small chance he ends up returning to us…i would prefer he doesnt.

I’m also extremely happy that shaun livingston was able to stay in the league. His leg injury was hands down one of the worst in the NBA. For him to rebound and get back into competitive shape is pretty amazing. I never like it when a player’s career gets cut super short because of a freak injury.

I have a hard time believing he will be able to live up to that contract when he has to fight for shots from Jennings, Smith, Monroe(assuming he comes back) and Drummond to some degree. He should have only gotten 3mil per, 4 at most.

Livingston’s career has been a blur. I don’t even remember him being on some of these teams he was on.

Heat was the first team to sign him after his injury, but he still wasn’t ready to contribute again at the time.

Mitch needs to try and work a sign and trade for Meeks with the Pistons, deals can’t be signed until the 10th or 11th and this could be a lucrative opportunity for us. Meeks cap hold was only $2M and we didn’t have to renounce him to offer either Lebron or Melo the pipe dream max so we could go over the cap in a trade due to his cap hold.

In a sign and trade Meeks could get us a player worth $9M due to the 150% simultaneous trade rule. Last off season the Thunder offered the T-Wolves cash in order to create a TPE in Kevin Martin’s sign and trade. It’s a good way to get an additional player if Mitch is thinking about it.

Also:

Lance Stephenson was low balled by the Pacers and rejected a 5 year, $44 million deal.

In a league were Jodie Meeks got a 3 year $19 Million and Avery Bradley got a 4 year $32 Million deal, I can understand his grievance even with his antics.

So what’s that like 7 mill starting? That would make him the lowest priced off all the starting 5, despite posting the best PER of all of them if I remember correctly, and IMO being the second most consistent behind West.

I’d just blow that shit away, lay down and nap on it.

What’s sad though? I actually feel like he is exactly what the Heat could use…high motor, great defense, great offense, good size, and can be steered into the right direction by the Big 3. He’d be a great ‘replacement’ for Wade, and would lighten LBJ’s load. Too bad his antics and off the court issues will prevent that from ever happening. Needs a better 3 ball too.

Oddly enough, I had that thought during their series. Miami probably can’t afford him, but never underestimate dudes mending fences to win titles.

Sticking it to Indy for low-balling would be fodder, and I’m pretty sure MIA could afford him.

I keep thinking about their roster and how to rebuild and it feels like they need search for 4 things if they want another chip.

LBJ2.0 - an all around type that can play off LBJ or come off the bench to lighten the overall load without changing the way the team plays…
Shooting - M.Miller, S.Battier, R.Allen as well as N.Cole, & M. Chalmers are all gone or most likely gone. Need help with spacing…
Active big for the bigger teams…
More consistent defender for the PG spot

As I see it, someone like Deng or Stephenson fit the first need perfectly. They need to be top priority - lowering LBJs load. Then I worry about shooting. I’m not too worried about the bottom two. I still think Nate Robinson would be a huge pick-up at the point as a 6th or 7th man off the bench. Lowry which isn’t an option anymore, would have done a good job as a LBJ2.0 and a PG. But they need to fill out the whole roster.

Yeah, it’s 7.6M starting with the 7.5% raises.

While Meeks is getting something like $6.1M starting with 4.5% raises, and Bradley $7.3M starting with 7.5%. That’s pretty embarrassing I have a hard to time believe Stephenson starting salary is only $1.5M better than Meeks and $.3M better than Avery Bradley.

He’s a 9 mill starting guy IMO. 10 would be over doing it.

Bad GMs messing it up for everyone.

2015 is the year gms should be saving their cap space for.

A lot more tier 2 players will be up for grabs

I’m just hoping for an active trade deadline. Those are way more fun.

I just realised after work today, how long it will be till the next season starts.

Man I wanna see Kobe’s final hurra, Dirk with a retooled Mavs squad and heck Anthony Davis cause he gonna have an even better jumper …

I actually would also like to see Pau work with Randle.

Sometimes when somebody annoys the shit out of you, you’d rather have them on your team. Whenever we’d pick teams to play football I always built my team with the big slow guys, because I absolutely always hated getting tackled by them and they’d slow me down so much trying to run around them that other people could get at me. Unless we are talking elite athlete, I’d almost definitely have the power advantage on anybody that was faster than me, and usually nobody was faster anyway.

If you’re LBJ, Stephenson has been the most annoying person you’ve ever faced. There are not going to be other annoying guys like that. And if there are, you just send Lance to annoy them back freeing you up to do your usual thing.

If I was LBJ and the Heat I would actually push hard for Stephenson. I think he is more of that annoying little brother type that was just trying to get attention and be accepted. Once he’s on the team he’ll be all in to back you up.

Jeremy Lin posted this recently:

This is almost as bad as that sign on staple center that had Dwight Howard and #stayd12 on it.

That sign made me sick.

I guess Lin can see the writing on the wall

Although this was financed by those clowns on LakersNation this one is equally disturbing.
