The Official NBA 2014-2015 Thread: Simp City

Yeah, he was.

And today the hate in Miami reached new levels for that reason. He met with Dan Gilbert before the Riley meeting on Wednesday. Also, the SI letter was made the same day as the Riley meeting. So his mind was already made up. He was just throwing out false hopes.

I think he better shut down that project with the 10 restaurants. He’s better off opening them in Cleveland. Some of these businesses he have here is going to suffer a bit. People aren’t going to walk into UNKNWN and wanna see his Cavs jersey framed on the wall anymore.

I didn’t see Gasol going to Chicago actually happening. That was as random as the Wade to Chicago rumor.

He’s 34 and wants another ring and he thinks Chicago without Melo can do it? Good luck.

My Pau Gasol jersey was collecting dust. Now I can set it free at my local goodwill.

The Bulls are just gonna run on a backup plan.

Since Pau can play both PF/C, he can cone off the bench for either Taj or Noah, but it’s likely Noah since they’re gonna finally bring over Mitotic from Madrid after he paid his way out of the Euroleague

Heat, Chicago and Indiana already proved the only things that matter in the East is great defense. Any team with that can get out of the conference.

But Gasol is a stepback for Chicago, honestly.

Also, Airiza just signed with the Rockets.

All eyes now are on Deng and Stephenson.

Chicago should’ve thrown their cap money at Lance Stephenson.

Ariza is a nice pick up, not necessarily what we need if we retain Parsons, but either work well in a deal to address our issues. If we flip this into something Morey still had a successful off season.

Gasol will come off the bench, most likely here to bolster our bench. He’s 34 for fucks sake, they’d be crazy to bench our awesome front court for a little offense.

Honestly I’d rather us save our cap space for next season or we could make a play for Stevenson but I don’t think we’d have enough money now. If we can get Lance and Pau I’d call this a win in the F.A.P for us otherwise this is a waste or a lateral move. Pax and comp always had a hard on for Gasol for some fucking reason, hopefully this doesn’t blow up in their face tho it likely will.

East is gonna be weird as hell next year.

Heat are about to resign Mario.

Shabazz struggling in SL probably the reason.

Rockets have 1 pf and 1 pg? Good luck with that.

It’s been reported from the beginning the SI article was done on Thursday, so unless you have proof, cut it out.

Fact is, to this point Lebron and his camp has handled everything ideally and the only people trying to throw trash on his name are bitter Heat fans. Which is not only hypocritical, but ironic in that he gave them a better goodbye than he did Cleveland.

  1. Noah and Gasol the twin Ivory towers! Anyways depending on the price, it is a good sign. Pau is a great passer, and very efficient scorer still. Then you have the 6’10 Mirotic coming, so the Bulls will have a ton of size.

  2. Melo took the money, he probably won’t get a championship. NY is a long ways off, though anything can happen.

  3. People are grossly underestimating the effect Lebron will have on the Cavs. He took a craptastic team to the NBA finals in the 06-07 season, and his last 2 seasons on the Cavs he got over 60 wins. If they get Kevin Love, there is no question the Cavs are going to the finals (and have a high chance of winning), however even without Love I don’t see any team in the East better than them.

Lee Jenkins and LeBron agreed to do it long before Thursday. The drafts were already under way. Thursday was used to finalize it by adding quotes and finishing touches, which they did together in Las Vegas.

Who the hell are you to tell fans how they should or should not feel? This is a much different goodbye with much different sources of bitterness that you couldn’t possibly understand.

Proof or it didn’t happen.

That was when LeBron was 24 and 25. He turns 30 in December… something people seem to keep dancing over.

He’s the best player in the world, but he no longer wants to carry teams. That is not what he’s signing up for.

But go ahead, let’s keep overrating a Cavs team filled with young players with zero playoff experience, an injury prone PG, a SG who barely gets along with said injury prone PG, a tweener forward that people are calling a bust after 1 season, and a rookie coach. They also had the 29th worst defense in the league just two seasons ago, and are still hovering at only 15th this past season. LJ is definitely a God that is going to lead that to 60+ wins and a championship, supposedly.

I, agree Geo. This post is too long but this is what I think sums it up for most Heat fans.

I would say what I think about the situation although I’m not a Heat fan, but honestly Lebron is too much of a waste of time to rant on.

the knicks need just 1 year to sign some people. they’ll have a lot of cap room after this year

melo and KD is possible next year, watch out

Yes Lebron is 30. However he is a better player now than he was in his Cav years. He’s developed his jump shot much more, and his post game is improving ever year. He is much more experienced, and is still a quick 6’8 super strong, athletic freak. Lebron has phenomenal vision and excels at finding the open player. What open player? The one or two that are always there when Lebron drives to the basket and collapses the defense.

Lebron, Kyrie Irving, Andrew Wiggins, supposedly Ray Allen and Mike Miller want to join the cavs for minimum contracts as well. Then you have the Kevin Love trade that they are trying to make happen. If I were a Cavs fan I would be plenty excited for next season.

I read it just now, and he nailed it. But there’s way more to it than that.

Look at the lengths Heat tried to cater to LeBron, on the levels we had never done to a player before. Heat basically got desperate and started babying LeBron like Cavs did for first 7 years in order to keep him.

Even that is not the real issue.

In 2010, the guy came here as a villain. Heat fans rallied in front of him like a shield, becoming an arrogant and hated fanbase as a result. They soaked it all in. When the team lost to the Mavs, they felt it hard and the city was gloomy for weeks. At that point, all they wanted was to see LeBron get a ring. So when he finally did, it was like everybody here won with him. They accepted him with open arms, and this is after the fact that the fanbase was divided into “Team LeBron” and “Team Wade” his first season. No, it became all about LeBron now. He’s the first MVP in franchise history. His face is the one that was everywhere now. This became his city.

Now he leaves and Miami loses, because he gets to redeem himself and become a saint in Cleveland. And the Heat fanbase are still the most hated in the league in the aftermath. It was as if it was all for nothing. Just a four year rental.

All the “we need to improve at every position” bullshit after losing in the Finals this year… even though he didn’t plan on being here… that shit hurts. The waiting so long and creating so much confusion with other possible Heat free agents… that shit hurts.

The city put their faith and trust in a guy who never wanted to be here in the first place. That’s where all of the bitterness is coming from.
