LeBron never got 67 wins with the Cavs. He won 61 games twice with a seasoned group of veterans and an established system, not a bunch of kids and a new coach.
You’re delusional.
LeBron is about to be 30 and he knows he’s going to need consistent help to accomplish his goals in the future, so his choice is to be patient and nurture the players that will help him this time.
But the fact still remains, he did it with vets. He had shooters. Mo Williams made his lone allstar appearance that year. He had defenders and he had rebounders. Within his first 8 years, he played the LOWEST minutes in 2008-2009 (37 mpg).
I just think it’s ridiculous people don’t see the obvious differences between that Cleveland team and this one. It’s like people don’t watch basketball.
I think people are looking at the potential for this team that’s why they’re making such bold predictions. LeBron brings out the best outta his players so I see why everyone expects them to do so well but it will take time like he said.
*I’ve been saying this to all my hoops friends. The Cavs have the potential to be a great or at least a really good team in like 3 seasons. But it all depends on how these guys develop and what other pieces they get. The Cavs are a young, inexperienced team with defensive problems. Those problems aren’t going to go away just because Lebron is on the team. He’ll be able to help them tremendously, but it’ll take time.
As that happens the other teams in the east won’t just be sitting on their laurels. *
Looking at the K-Love trade rumors again and I’m starting to notice something that is going to become clear to everybody very soon: Love is going to kill any other trade destinations besides Cleveland because he won’t sign an extension with those other clubs. He wants to play with Lebron, and if he flat out comes out and says that “I will not accept any extension offer accept with the team Lebron is playing for,” the other teams will probably lose interest and the Wolves would lose all leverage in negotiations with the Cavs. In other words, this might turn into a very one sided trade in Cleveland’s favor.
And if anyone watched Cleveland’s summer league game last night, they would come to the same conclusion. This team is not winning the eastern conference next season( unless they make a trade for KLove).
People better worry about Cleveland winning their own division. Because it’s loaded.
They very well could win the eastern conference. Who’s going to stop them? Rose hasn’t proven anything yet, and the Pacers imploded so hard last year it’s hard to imagine them recovering from the black hole that was the end of their season. Beyond that LeBron makes the Cavs legit enough to take the conference. No way they win the title though.
Even with K-Love, Cavs will have growing pains just like Heat’s first year. LeBron’s presence makes guys alter their game. Kyrie has to be more offball, Love more catch and shoot/stretch 4. This stuff doesn’t happen overnight.
Pau going to Chicago still makes absolutely no sense to me. Noah is locked in at C… Gibson has evolved at PF… what does Pau provide? He doesn’t provide the defense that either does.
So yeah, good luck with that Chicago. This probably means Melo is staying in NY. If they somehow get both Pau and Melo though, they’re the favorites easily.
It’s fun to take the credit but the more I think about it, I suspect LeBron was going back to Cleveland even if they won the three-peat. Would have been a perfect exclamation point to his career in Miami
