My favorite play in the game was when Harden had the ball and 2 other rockets ran around near him on the perimeter, until the shot clock ran down and he heaved a prayer. I don’t know what that was supposed to be, but it was utterly hilarious. The Trailblazers were just playing off and probably laughing, if they want to play defense on Harden sure go ahead! is probably what they thought.
I think he was leaving anyway but the Chicago thing is going to be tough because the franchise is notoriously cheap. They would have to Amnesty Boozer costing them $16.8 Million then sign Melo costing them another $18-20 Million. That’s around $34.8-36.8 Million just to sign Melo.
Besides that even with the estimated cap increase the Bulls are at $47.5 Million with a Boozer amnesty with only 7 players on the roster so they would have roster hold for the 6 missing spots. 2 of those holds would be rookie holds at $1.2M because of the two picks they have in this draft the other 4 holds would be at 500K.
Leaving the Bulls total at: $51.9M, only $11 Million to sign Melo so they would still have to trade Taj Gibson. I’m not saying it’s impossible but that’s a lot to consider especially considering luxury tax implications as well.
So are the Bulls willing to lose Gibson and pay about $38.8-40.8 Million to acquire Melo?
Probably not, it seems a lot better to bring over Mirotic from Europe and amnesty Boozer anyways and should instead pursue a backup for Noah. I highly doubt that Melo will take a tiny check to play for the Bulls.
It’s a little more reasonable for him to go to the Lakers, since he’s set to play for a big-city franchise.
Yep, and his wife is some actress or singer or something, so LA benefits her.
Also Kobe is his best friend in the NBA apparently, and Melo is the only person Kobe can seemingly get along with period. If the Lakers have the space, Melo to the Lakers makes the most sense. Also Kobe hates D’Antoni, and D’Antoni hates Melo, so Kobe would be able to get rid of D’Antoni that way too while putting the blame on Melo for it.
I take it back
that porland houston game was the best of the weekend
LA and robin lopez foul out and they still won
thier chances were as small as their lineup but lillard is a fucking beast
his process for approaching the game was top notch veteran like
I have that feeling as well but I’m hoping he doesn’t return, with Jim saying he would step down in 3-4 years barring contender status D’antoni needs to be released.
So far it will be 3 teams with new coaches next year with Corbin and Woodson being fired and Adelman retiring today.
Haven’t seen anyone in here talking about the salary cap rising next season.
Melo going to Houston would be something I’d like to see. They’d be the most hated team in the league thanks to the angst of both Lakers and Knicks fanbases.
