Well I don’t know if this means much but just from talking to people(outside the SRK/fighting game community) I’ve found there’s more interest in 12 than I’d originally thought.
I mean at the least I think it’ll sell better than blazblue in the states.
I don’t think 2D is as big of a factor as people are making it out to be. SF4 opened the masses up again to fighting games and I think created alot of buzz for newer ones regardless of graphics.
Like I say there’s good buzz about KOF12, I’m not gonna say it isn’t, and I believe it’ll be the most successful KOF in the USA. However, I have to ask, how many of these people are still gonna be playing KOFXII even one month from it’s release? That’s what I have to ask. Sure everyone will be playing it right when it gets out, but how many are gonna stay the course?

Not many, but if it keeps snk playmore alive, its a necessary evil. Look at SFIV, i would imagine a good half already got rid of their game already now.
I agree wholeheartedly with you there, if its enough to keep SNKp alive, its necessary. Hence this in itself goes back to “What would make more dabblers want to dabble some more lol in KOFXII?”
They’ve gotta see something exciting or a different way a character is played or something like that, this will in turn make them want to “dabble some more.”

Revenge sounds sweet, I’m glad UM got an arcade release, albeit in a weird way. Anyways the way I see it KOFXII is not a game SNK is too excited to release. I mean they have to redo all their art which severely limits the roster, but it should turn out good when XIII comes out and they have had time to catchup on art then from there on out it’s KOF HD all the way. I mean seriously how sick is it going to be when SNK has all their character art updated to HD? Probably 1-2 more releases to completely catchup then another Dream Match year (98’, 2k2, XI,… ?). Can’t wait for the first HD dream match KOF. On a related note I just bought 97, 98, 99, 2k, 2k1 and a 1 slot MVS for $80, so stoked. :rock:
XII is actually a dream match.

Promotional tournies man. That’s what it’s all about. I’ll see if I can get some of the people around here for some training matches to get them prepared for XII. (Most likely going to have to teach them with 98UM)
PS. Does anyone else think that Brian Battlers air spin is the funniest shit ever. I was playing today and I lost using him because I couldn’t stop laughing at how silly that move is. The fuck is a football player spinning in the air for?

I have to travel 30-40 miles to find 2 ppl who’re interested in these games (their names are Nocturnal and Giby) and 50+ miles to the nearest arcade. Fuck it, I’m moving!
most of the ppl where i live is crazy about SF 3s and 4 and 2X… ok i love SF…but only the CE version

Dude isn’t high desert close to Arcade Infinity(Glendale)? So cal is super place for fighters, esp kof, at least when I lived there. Mexicans are crazy enthusiastic with that game.
Same crap here man. The nearest arcade is University Pinball in Philly which is 2 loving hours away. The best I can do is play with some people that I’ve been training into KOF and GG for a while now. Hopefully this’ll grow as the crowds seem to enjoy seeing us play. (My Clark seems to be a crowd favorite atm)
here at this lowly college at NJ, we have a few SNK players and KOF is regularly played. Back then though, XI was the talk of the club rooms though. My Kim was really flashy with all the super canceling and dream cancels. Nowadays, I’m so rusty I can barely beat scrubs. Still, I tend to be a little more flashy with chars such as Foxy and Leona.
Flashiness is what gets me killed half the time. I tend to show off a lot to impress the crowds and some I get a swift kick to the face.
Strongly disagree with u devildigimon. XII will have its best chance of being popular in the U.S. this is a U.S. based forum, so it makes the most sense. Be grateful for what u can get my dad used to say lol

Yup, but seriously. I called myself trying to create an FG scene up here, and all I got was ppl who sat there bored while playing Marvel and didn’t want to get better just because I owned them, though I was trying to teach them how to do the stuff I was doing. They all said “That’s too much work for one FG” and ran back to their FPS’s on their 50" plasma screens.
I know the console release will be good, come on, who doesn’t like online play? But, with this new sense of “I can play any1 online in my room, why go to an arcade.” The arcades are where you want ppl captivated and still playing, the arcade will eventually die if everything has netplay, especially if it’s very minimal in lag.
Which is why I’m gonna worship 02UM. You have to find your competition like b4, go find an arcade. I would just really like a machine somewhere within a 10-15 mile radius.
Yeah, it’s tough. I know it’s not easy for most here as there’s some that just mash normals hoping to win. Try to tell them how the motion works, but they give up because it’s too hard. So for me that feels like an uphill battle to get them to learn.
For now, I’m trying to get the people who used to play these games before up to speed to get them to learn. It’s not as bad because they already understand the motions. So far I’m impressed to see that today the one guy ACTUALLY COMBOED INTO SUPER! :clapdos: Another guy started to learn to zone with fireball characters. So, I think that’s a nice start here. (Even though I still kill their collective asses with my mains. EX Mai/Clark/Leona ftw!)
I’m going to see if I can give some serious training lessons to those who aren’t familiar with each game and break down everything for them. If they’re more advanced, then I’ll teach them the more advanced mechanics. (Might have to use Dandy’s vids for easy of use) I think I might start doing that tomorrow. There’s no way in hell I’m going to let them go easy and play shit like Brawl and Halo. Those games are for pussies.:wgrin:
