hey i’d like to thank you guys for the very great and personal responses. it has really helped me feel much more comfortable about coming to japan. i understand what you guys are saying. of course foreigners are looked at differently in every country. heck, even in canada, sometimes i come across a foreigner who speaks very little to no english inside a supermarket and they try asking me something and i give the raised eyebrow. now i feel bad for doing that.
so i understand now that i will be looked upon differently… because… well… i am different and i have to accept that.
keep up the great thread guys.
IMO. Racism = OLD! In the years that I have been here. I have had a couple of incidents of racism that irked me, but after a conversation with my mom it was obvious.
:nono:SP’s Mom: "Racism is a term “we” put on a general human emotion. To define human emotion is virtually impossible because all humans are different.
:wtf:SP: Huh???
:annoy:SP’s Mom: Ok forget what I just said. Boy! You are 6’4 (195cm)! You look like a monster too them. That’s your card, so play it.
:badboy:SP::badboy:
After that I really stop caring about it. (Even though it’s still here.) Everyone has to play this game with a different set of cards, and the last time I checked. You can win a game of Poker with a shit hand if you know how to walk it out. Life is the same way.
:party:O.K. in Free Pizza, Boozes and Videogame news!: I’m helping a PR group throw a demo party for Red Dead Redemption before and after TGS. I’m trying to lock down the exact details but I will let you guys know the deal as soon as I find out.
Sup guys. I will be in Chiba from the 8th to the 21st for the AM Show & SBO+TGS followed by Nagoya on the 22nd-23rd for NSB.
Look forward to seeing some familiar faces soon
BTW, still need a 3rd for NSB, so far it’s me and Jan from TX (we’re good)! If there aren’t any SSF4 experts left without a team I am going to team with my friend HeartNana
Im going to try to take a nenkyu on Friday the 24th. If my school lets me have the day off, I think I will go to NSB. I dont have a team though so if anyone wants to team up it would be cool. Id be entering with Rose.
Ryan/Jan/Rob seems like it would be a solid team, im sure you guys will do well.
Ryan - <3. Hopefully you find another expert, but if you don’t have another, then I’ll do what I can not to let you down. <3
I’ll be going Sakura/Juri, with Sakura being my main. I’ll practice though to make sure I don’t let you guys down if I make it on the team though. Tho it’s funny cause this wouldn’t be the first Ryan/Jan/Rob team, haha.
I’m down to play. I need to move into a new, bigger place next year (hopefully! cross your fingers everyone) so if you guys don’t mind the trek to Kyoto I can host again.
…If you don’t mind the trip to Kyoto, and potentially crying baby…
oh you get 2 characters? how does it work exactly? you have to lose with both to be eliminated or something or you can just switch whenever? yea blanka would be my 2ndary if thats the case.
Az - I’m in Kyoto practically every weekend anyways (dan lives 10 minutes walking from A-cho, so I just stay at his place), so it wouldn’t be out of the way for me. We go to TGIF a lot since it’s walking distance, but its usually around 10 at night or so, so probably a bit later than when you can come out.
Once Acho gets SSFIV, we can just play there and it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Mike - Yeah it’s more like, you have the option to use 2 characters instead of the normal 1 character only deal.
Well I just asked my school and the said I could take Friday 9/24 off which means I can go to NSB for sure. Ive never been to Nagoya so it will be cool to check it out and it also means I get a 4 day weekend. So yea, I need a team for sure. Would anyone like to team up? Az? Reno?
Also, my school is getting a new English teacher (JTE) because one of my current ones is going on maternity leave starting next week. I just found out that theres a welcome enkai for the new teacher on the friday night of SBO weekend -_-. Not showing up would be pretty rude since I will be working with her from now on, but I think if I just go to the first party and skip the nizikai and then try to catch the very last train to Tokyo I might be able to still pull off making it there Friday night. Otherwise I will have to leave in the morning… which would suck cuz last chance GG quals is like Saturday morning at 7 am, and it takes 4 hours from where I live to get to Makuhari Messe… Hopefully I can leave in time Friday night to make it to Tokyo that night.
yea they told me that the first party should end around 9 pm, the last train is at 9:27… station is a little bit of a walk but I can run or take a cab maybe. I should be ok. I think I can pull it off.
