The Official Japan Thread 2.0 "Nani?"

anyway ya still owe me that dinner lololol jk just holler when youre in japan again

Oh hfz when I meant SBO what I really meant to say was NSB/Godsgarden 2.5. I believe theyre both around the same time as SBO this year arent they? I wouldnt go to Japan for sbo just to play vanilla heh.
also i havent forgotten about owed dinner sirr

ah okay then, im goin to gods2.5 but not sure bout nsb since if its indeed on the 16th, im not gonna be in japan then.

its all good, i was just hoping people would want to meet up and get food or something.

I’ll hit up the loctest in osaka tho.

Sabin - Don’t lie, you want to come for AH3.

I just tried to buy a ticket for godsgarden 2.5 at family mart but I couldnt find it in the machine. Is it Lawson only? Can someone please give me like a number I can just punch in to easily find the event??

yeah you cant get a lawson ticket at familymart apparently. anyway the code is “39479”

and if you wanna join the tournament, you have to register at the tokyo game night site (after buying the ticket, you need the number on the ticket to register for the tourney).

registration form

so i wanted to update the godsgarden online thread on new info on the date of the final match between mochi and sako but i was surprised that the thread got closed, like what the fuck?

Sad panda. :frowning:

Why do Tokyo girls gotta be prudes?

Just finished reading this entire thread :-p (not all today, though!)

So here’s my situation: very close friends of the family have a pretty decent apt. in Tokyo and I’ve been dying to go to Japan for a really long time. Initially it started as anime, but over time it’s matured as I have and is a full on cultural interest. The distance is not going to be a problem for me and I’m a super outgoing person. My Japanese isn’t terribly strong, but is something I will work on and having things like the JLPT to motivate me will be helpful. I’m driven academically and will do what it takes to get me there. Just finished up my second year of college (engineering+CS) and currently working for 6 months doing software development in the US.

I’ll probably have about 14K after this 6 months is said and done, but what do you guys suggest I should bank/do to prepare for next summer? I’d like to go for just the summer and while I may need to pay rent with the family friends, it wouldn’t be too much. I don’t drink (choice) so don’t worry about that as an income eater

Out of curiousity, how long are you planning to stay in Tokyo?

Heya guys, I’m gonna be in Japan at the end of August ‘til of end of September, deffo’ looking forward to it! Have a few questions though:

1.) Anyone know any cheap places to stay? I’ve been doing a bit of research with my friend who I’m also going with, but it seems like cheap places to stay in Tokyo are virtually non-existent…

2.) TGS 2010! Has anyone been to any other Tokyo Game Shows? I read online that it’s open to the public on the last two days but I’m guessing the queue is going to be insane or something?

That’s pretty much it, I’ve been studying Japanese for several months as an elective so I’ve got some decent basics though I haven’t done any in awhile, so I should be okay as long as I do some studying between now and when I go.

I think I’m looking to be there from June-early August. Why do you ask? If you were even asking me, of course

So what day did any of you kansai guys wanna go to the loctest? It’s at sega avion on sat and sun. I can do either.

Yeah I was, just thought 14K is shitload of money to be taking for such a short duration, it seems from your post that you’d expect it to be that expensive. xP

I’ll be staying here: Tokyo Studio B - B:CONTE ARIAKE | Hotel Room in Tokyo with city views by Space Design

not really cheap but it looks like a good apartment and has everything you need including free internet and gym. I dont think you’ll be able to find something really cheap like you would in europe.

don’t know about TGS, I guess it will be VERY crowded, but I’m definitely going.

Wasn’t looking to spend it all (or even most of it, if possible) but just wanted to be sure haha.

To anyone: what’s a weekly or daily expense look like for you? I figure habits/spending of people here will be about the closest thing I can find to what I’d be like.

Winter my friend, winter.

Summer = sun = on noes I don’t want to get tanned and all dark and shit, better put on 3 layers of clothing and use an umbrella, and just put up with making my body temperature 5-10 degrees warmer so long as my skin stays pure white.

Winter = no sun = oh hey now that I don’t have to worry about getting tanned I can wear extremely short skirts/shorts and tank tops, nevermind that its like 0 degrees outside, as long as I’m fashionable its all good.

Women, I swear. :bluu:

Probably Saturday for me. Morning or evening, not sure which one yet though.

nagoya is ass.

Az - Cool, I’ll be there sat then. Not sure about morning or evening yet either.

Moving to Tokyo soon to attend ICU in Mitaka. Can anyone direct me to any good sites for cheap apartments?

Don’t know if there’s any SRK peeps in Northern Japan, but I found a decent arcade about an hour away from Misawa, AB. Sega World Arcade, which is right around the corner from the Hachinohe Mall. They got 4 cabs each of BB:CT, KoF13, and SF4. Comp was pretty good for a monday night so I’ma go again this weekend and catch another asswhoopin.

Also, does anybody know if Sengoku Basara X will work on a slim PS3. I’ve wanted this game for a while but don’t wana buy a J PS2 just for one game.
