The Official "give nu a meter please aksys ty" Thread

Yeah I’m watching those vids, and all the really high damage ones without meter require a grab, a counter hit on a close up special (the one demonstrated in the second video I seriously doubt anyone could do on reaction to anything without a massive window for punishment, and all those moves are off limits vs her anyway), landing with that really slow ground sword spike special thing, nothing that is going to happen without her taking big risks. But if your pushing a Nu player, she isn’t going to take those risks. I’m talking about things shes actually going to land, while maintaining her safety bubble. If Nu players ever moved forward I wouldn’t hate playing againt her so much. (Decent ones.) Actually hate is a strong word. It’s a mad dash to catch her and it sure gets the heart pumping, so it’s a good time. Just isn’t really very fair.

You know what I see when she does the startup for ground sword spikey whatever move? Free counter hit into big damage. Please keep application in mind.

I emphasise, these combos they are showing off are not the issue. Everyone can combo hard when they get in deep. Sure, deep for Nu is a bit further back than most, but that is not where any Nu that wants to win will be playing. They will be pressuring you at full screen and trying to catch you as you close. When you do get in, they will find the quickest hit then can and push you right back out. This tactic doesn’t hurt too bad, but its devastating in the fact that it becomes near impossible to get in. If Nu-13 where going for the combos in this vid, any time she missed she would be put in very dangerous situations, which with her low vitality she is just not comfortable with. Why take risks when she has plenty of perfectly safe options?

My hope is that, should they do a balance patch, they don’t change all the characters around drastically like they have done in past GG expansion games. I don’t think anyone is ready for a BBXX yet. The changes they make should be minimal and not really affect a whole lot (changing damage/proration on some moves, changing some start-up times, which moves can be canceled on block, changing some meter properties on Arakune’s curse, etc). They shouldn’t try to re-envision a character right now.

AND, whatever they do, it should come to arcades and consoles at the same time.

I think if they look at three matchups in the game (Tager vs Nu, Tager vs Arakune, Tager vs Rachel) and try to adjust these four characters so these matchups aren’t so bad, it will fix the vast majority of problems with this game. Tager will be better, and the top three won’t be as bad (which then help Bang and Hakumen move up to solid mid-tier). Since the mid-tier matchups are already pretty balanced, they don’t have to do much of anything with the rest.

I’m almost more excited to see what Arcsys/Capcom will announce at SBO about the future of BlazBlue/SF4 as I am to see the SBO matches/results themselves.

I see what you’re saying and i agree. Why do something risky, when you can be safe? That’s one of the reasons why you haven’t seen 50% meter less combos from NU in matches very often, if at all. It doesn’t take away her ability to do so, nor does it take away the fact it can be done in certain situations.

Yeah but eeeveryone can do that. Nu is nothing special in that regard. Yes, it’s vicious, even particularly vicious, but that is balanced by her low HP. If that was her main tool, then no one would have a problem with her I think.

sigh*

Everyone can’t do 50% meter less combos. Fuck it! I’m done here, my point is proven.

Sorry I more meant just big damage in general. 40% is not significant damage? I just mean to say, everyone hurts a lot more when they get slightly closer than they are typically comfortable.

Okay, not every character, but those that can’t have other tools.

You’re still missing his point.

Yeah, this thread should have ended after those Nu combo videos were posted. They basically summed up the problem pretty well. If someone can watch those videos and say “that’s not too bad” or “that’s balanced” than arguing with that person really isn’t going to go anywhere.

This thread started off ok with some decent ideas regarding how to go about fixing Nu but very quickly turned into “People who main Nu and think she is perfectly fine” (nobody saw that coming btw) vs. pretty much everyone else with an exception here and there.

Alright then, by mass consensus it seems like this is now futile. Bye bye
