This is probably going to sound stupid an break tager in a load of ways I havent thought about but what if his sledge was made to reflect projectiles rather then just cancel them?
Wouldn’t that improve his terrible matchups against zoneing characters whilst keeping him normal against the other ones?
I think the best thing to do with Nu is reduce the push-back on blocked swords. She keeps all of her combos and all of her pressure strings, but when Tager jumps through a hole to move in, he doesn’t have to block that stupid air string and get pushed back to where he started.
No way they could do that (or reduce blockstun) without either overhauling the game engine or making Nu complete garbage.
Reducing pushback would require them to lower the level rating on swords, which would also reduce blockstun and hitstun. I’m fairly certain that this would mean j.DD > j.214D would cease to be an untechable combo, which would obviously be a completely ridiculous nerf.
Actually, it does. Ragna’s standing C is jump cancelable on hit, but not on block.
I realize a lot of our members, both new and old, are getting into Blazblue and didn’t play very much GGXX. GGXX had 4 versions. Remembering the relative character balance of those versions, don’t expect too huge of nerfs or buffs. Arc favors minor buffs to bring the characters closer together than massive “let’s flip-flop who’s top tier and bottom tier” nerfs. Eddie and Slayer were top tier in 3 of the 4 versions and Zappa was pretty much at the bottom in all 4, Anji down there with him in 3 of the 4 versions. So don’t expect that magically, come autumn, Hakumen is rising to S-class and the big 3 are going to be crap. GGXX had the occasional Johnny alternating good to bad in every other version or Testament who eventually went from bottom tier to S-class. But you pretty much always had Eddie and Slayer at the top, with Zappa and Anji near the bottom.
Short version: Don’t get your hopes up for massive character altering changes, like a v-13 sword meter. Expect things like Arakune’s curse meter to be shorter and the bugs consume more of the meter. The top 3 will probably still be near the top. Some of the low tier characters might still be low come the balance patch.
Ah, I forgot about that. Yes, removing that combo would be retarded. I still think reducing just the on-block push-back would be a good idea if there was a way to do it. :\
Not really. Making 1 negative change is better than making 11 positive ones. The more changes the more variables you add and the more likely one of those will be OP, so you’re next changes will just be another sweeping buff session.
Minor changes to fix slanted match-ups are probably all we’ll see and honesty that’s fine. I’m still impressed by the balance in this game. A few fixes here and there and we have ourselves a jewel.
Talking about nerfing Nu is hurting some feelings…
But I’ll admit it, If I mained Nu, I would probably be out here saying the same thing. “She’s balanced.” “Don’t nerf her.” “Look at her health.” Nobody likes to have their character nerfed but if what everyone says about ArcSys is true, she will probably stay the same while everyone else gets a buff. Who knows?
I don’t think a sword meter is the way to go, I think slightly more frames/recovery would do it. Her pressure game works so well because she hits you so far away with seemingly great ease, and has often recovered if you’re blocking so much quicker that she’ll just begin again.
Make her SLIGHTLY ‘slower’. Just a touch. It would balance things with the characters struggling, but wouldn’t affect too much v-13 play.
ive also already sugggested all they have to do is add a meter and she wont be as bad. Out of all the ones i’ve played, they all sucked. + playing online is bad for her with delay.
They’ll be taking suggestions from the professional jp tourney players.
I’m on the same boat. All I hear about Nu is constant crying.
If you’re going to nerf the swords, you better give me some up close options because I need them in that case. Her regular normals are either very slow, or don’t have great ground prority and she has no GTFO move. Nu just has an EXTREMELY advatageous match-up against Tager and using Tager myself, I think that’s the one the major thing that needs to change. Tager needs more options, that are faster and safer. In fact, Tager is even worse off against Arakune. D-bug guard breaks BY ITSELF.
Even with a sword meter, to be honest, a lot of whiners lose to Nu because they don’t have the patience to block or bait swords. They keep blind airdashing and ground dashing and get hit by D normals for free. Getting past one whiffed sword means you’re in. If you back Nu into the corner, all she can do is barrier block/IB and try to SJ/dash out. Her matchups other than Tager (and Hakumen), are either close to even or 6-4 (Arakune too, but it’s only his 2nd disadvantage matchup), almost resembling Eddie’s matchup chart from AC.
It’s not like her swords are can change every time. They all follow a select tree of options and have to end in the same spot. Good Nu players vary the ending (or intentionally shorten the string) to confuse the opponent and make it seem like the guard string is endless. Picking up on the Nu tendencies is important. But, who cares right? She’s too good and fuck thinking about ways to acutally beat her.
I think people just like to overreact and use her top-tier status as a excuse for losing to her. She’s very, very good. We all saw this call for a nerf from the masses before the game was even out on console. But, seriously, sometimes this gets out of hand.
I’m getting pretty tired of people of the same old I just mash D to win and how cheap my character is. Especially that attitude people have that not picking Nu makes you a better human being.
Whoa, take it easy. For all we know, she might not even get nerfed, maybe everyone else will get buffed? Also, if they were to make some changes, I’m sure they would look at more than just Nu. I’m sure everyone who plays Nu knows the hatemail that comes with her, its part of the package. If you’re gonna main her you’re going to have to get used to those complaints of D-spam, etc. While all you say is true regarding getting in on Nu, baiting swords, etc it still doesn’t change the fact that she is ridiculously easy to play. I agree that anyone patient enough can get in and then the game becomes really hard for Nu but the problem I have with her is that it’s so easy to be decent with her without trying very hard. I was going to main Nu at first, but after like 10 games, I was turned off by the lack of challenge, which to me at least is half the fun.
This ridiculously easy to play stigma is all wrong too. Just because you can do DD 4DD 236D doesn’t mean you play Nu decently or even well. Doing her air combo once doesn’t mean you know how to play her. You know why there are so many scrub ass Nu’s online? Because everyone thinks it’s easy to play her and they just pick her thinking she’s auto-win.
How can you even win in fighting games if you fail to show some form of patience? If you’re losing because all you try to do is blindly RTSD, then you only have yourself to blame. If you agree that anyone with patience can get in and make it hard for Nu and win, why is being patient such a chore? Why don’t people show more patience? Whem they lose, why do they blame their lack of patience on Nu’s swords? I really want to know.
…lack of challenge? Really. Get some more solid competition and get back to me. No matter what character you play, if you play a bunch of people who aren’t good you won’t feel a challenge anyway. Again, Nu isn’t some free auto-win character. Just because I don’t feel any challenge when I pick Jin (who is another one of those so-called “scrub” characters) online doesn’t mean he’s auto.
Whoa, relax lol. I never said she was a free win. I think you misunderstood my post and that’s partly my fault. By easy, I meant in terms of execution not she’s just a free win d spamming left and right. Even her most difficult combo isn’t really difficult at all. Granted, there are other characters who have easy combos as well, none of them can compete at such a level with such simple combos. She is by far the easiest to play between the top 3 (again, execution wise). I thought the fact that it wasn’t against people who were that good would’ve been obvious since I said my first 10 games…it’s only a discussion, no need to take it to heart.
