He’s still got it! Watching him push back Daigo’s Balrog with a Ryu (still lost, tough matchup) was pretty impressive
Honestly, that was the best thing I’ve seen at 2014. I don’t know if it was because it was a one-off and everyone was having fun with it, but that was genuinely main event material. I hope there’s enough feedback from it to convince them to take ST seriously again.
If you really think about it I think some major points are getting enough setups for it is arguably the most expensive thing, American players have very limited ways to practice.
I asked about HDR on the stream on day1 and I think Fatboy or someone said HDR isn’t played at tournaments because it isn’t an arcade perfect port and therefore the community has deemed it inferior in every way.
Question, what is stopping anyone from tweaking ST to remove all the BS like throw loops, random dizzies, overpowered throws using the original STX rom, then create a fresh rom that can be uploaded to the CPSII cabinets? Has anyone attempted this?
HDR is an entirely new version and native platform is the Xbox 360.
The only reason to use CPS2 hardware is to play ST, it’s completely unnecessary to do what you just described (because that’s basically HDR which is about 10 bucks on a system most people have).
I know you guys don’t really like Smash but I’m sure you’ve heard of Project:M it’s basically Ultra Melee but it’s built on Brawl, they won’t use it, it’s not an official game.
There’s also a re-balancing of Melee done using cheat codes and file replacements, easy to set up no one would ever use it for something like EVO.
