Blade of the Immortal

Man, Envy always gets fucked up left and right (ever notice how that seems to happen to him a lot in the manga?) every time he faces a group of people and starts talking shit. It’s like a running gag with him. Makes him not as scary and dangerous-seeming as in the anime. I like it. Roy had him running scared, then he tried his luck with Riza…and got worked.

It was great when he realized how completely outmatched he was all the while Roy was talking some serious anger driven shit.

“He’s using the one hand for pin point attacks and the other for giant blasts, WHAT THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO?”

This was compounded in funniness because he thought he had figured out a strategy and ended up getting his eyeballs burned off again.

Blade of the Immortal.

Holy shit. Angry Mustang is broken. If not for Tenten’s fight against Temari in Naruto, Envy would be up for The Most Owned award.

I think Envy’s role as a villain is mostly done, he’s just still around for the whole revenge consuming your soul thing.

They should just toss him to Scar and let him take care of things.

Great chapter btw

Copy pasta from my post in the Anime and Manga thread.

I like that they explain why he can transmute without a circle right away this time, rather than the BS reason they gave in the first series. “oh it’s just your pocketwatch haha now it’s gone!!” and giving you the real reason at like 30 episodes in.

Yeah I’ll agree that was nice.

Is it me or did the failed transmutation scene in ep. 2 was a LOT more powerful in this compared to the older series?

Aside from that, it’s yet another excellent episode. They may have went through content quickly but it all flows well and the other stuff could be explained (especially the automail) in later episodes.

I was also amused a bit at how Bradley managed to cut Ed’s created sword in like in 0.1 seconds during the inital exam, without the latter even noticing how it happened.

Whoops I didn’t post that I thought the second episode was good in this thread.

Lolerskates pretty much posted everything I was going to say.

It’s just like the manga in the best way possible. They really nailed the transmutation scene in this one with Ed having to watch his brothers soul get taken.

They’ll flesh out the automail and master izumi stuff in later episodes just like the manga.

Well then i look forward to it…

Shit i need to DL the Manga and read it this weekly waiting shit is gonna kill me.

Wow. The anime is FLYING through the manga.

Ep 3, not really a spoiler if you know the manga…

Spoiler

They did Lior in all of one episode, and it looks like they’re skipping the train hijack incident

I don’t mind, the faster they get to the “new” anime stuff the better.

I M B hind.

I’ve gotta check out this reset on the series. I’ve always loved Fullmetal Alchemist. My problem, though, is that I always seem to catch it on the episode where my favorite character, Maes Hughes, gets snuffed.

Case in point, watching it last night on Adult Swim after a long time of not doing so.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty fast myself. But then again, folks have likely watched the 1st series and knew what happened already and considering that we’ll get more manga content compared to the lesser episode count, they had to quicken things up.

Is it me though or are the funny sequences a lot more frequent this time around compared to the older series? Not like I mind, since it’s always amusing to see and it’s pretty much in par with the manga (or at least the part I read).

Next episode’s going to be pretty tough because of

ep 4

Nina.

I like the humour. The humour was EVERYWHERE in the manga, while the first series was pretty dark.

From what I have seen of the first show and what i have read of the Manga recently the new show matches the humor pace of the Manga a lot better then the first show did. The first show had no issues really with dropping a ton of heavy shit on your head and doing anything to lighten the mood at all while the new Anime and the Manga both drop in perfectly timed bits of humor to help break up all the solemness.

Frankly i prefer it. Next episode will be tough though yeah.

As for Lior frankly this is a lot closer to the manga in pace anyway. Bones added a lot of stuff to the whole Lirr incident with the first Anime. There was really enough content for one episode and this is a better fit anyway.

Just watched episode 3. Good pacing! Episode 4 is going to be such a downer though :frowning:

Damn, the HD version of Shinsen’s sub is down.
