Ok, I’m trying to make a 360 joystick for the PS2. The 360 needs +5 volts, but I hear the PS2 generates +9 volts and that I would need to wire a resistor. The question is, what resistance (how many ohms) do I use for the resistor? Or, how much current is the PS2 generating? I am a noob.
i got some comp. sticks on my xarcade and i’ve been noticing a lot of people have comp. sticks that are really close to the casing. it’s really stubby. how do i get mine like that? does it require some sort of softer spring?
qwazy they’re just using thicker wood. if you want the shaft to be short try putting some cardboard between the housing of the stick and the wood.
btw LOWES SUX!
LOWES=LOW TIER
goddamnit! THey got nothing over there. the rubber bumper section is only 2 shefves and consist of 20 different kind of slides and a small pack of rubber bumper that stick on, no screw on type. I went to get some plexi cut and the asshole took a big ass piece when all i needed was a 15x10 piece, i ended up paying $10 for a little bitty piece. I ain’t never going to lowes again.
I’m having some weird ass probs with my box. I just finished it, the buttons are working fine, but the stick is acting odd. Left and right are reversed, while up doesn’t work, but when you press down on the stick, it goes up then down. This is a competition stick from Happs, btw. Any suggestions?
^ You made a wiring mistake somewhere, there is nothing wrong with the stick, either you missed a ground, or you have some of the ground solder in the wrong place, and you may have right and left connected to the wrong switch, remember when you wire a joystick, its upside down and backwards, if that makes any sense. When you push left you are actually hitting the right switch, and when you push down you are actually hitting the up switch.
Lowes does suck, I prefer home depot.
Astro 86: You can solder it anywhere there is a ground, it doesnt really matter, unless you have one that has more than one ground. But I dont know if that one does because I never messed with one of those official ones, because I never wanted to…I like keeping it simple.
This question might have been asked alot of times, or mabey not, but how hard is it to hack a refelx stick, and does some one have a web page that might show u how to do it?
I kNOW, REAL NOOB QUESTION, but i’m not good with electronics, brother is though…
Well heh. I was able to fix the reversed left/right direction thing. Thanks for helpin me with that. But now when I attach a wire to the top microswitch (the one that is hit when you push up the on stick), when I press up, it goes down then up. Bleh. Btw, when I connect to the bottow switch (the one that is hit when you push down) nothing happens, at all. I checked all the ground connections, and they’re all connected correctly. Any more help?
thanx for the help man ill be making the stick this week and ill let u peeps know how it goes
Have you checked to see if maybe you have 2 grounds? Are all the directions under one common? Did you use a multimeter to make sure no solder ran over onto the other contacts?
I got a couple of questions:
- Is there a minimum to buying arcade controls at HAPP’s?
- Do they accept money order?
Thx in advance to whoever answers thse questions.
Well, I followed the wiring diagram here:
http://members.cox.net/joysticks/hack_dc_dreammaster.html
Was I not supposed to? o.O
And what do you mean Are all the directions under one common? You mean a ground? or…
yea, check for double grounds. but it seems like you have solder hitting 2 places at once or something like that…if you still can’t figure it out… try unslodering up & down then scraping away all the areas around it…even just a tiny piece of solder will f up everything…
unless you wan comp buttons and/or a p360, i would highly recommend buying from therealbobroberts.com …homeboy is awesome, i sent out my money order on monday and had the parts by friday, and i live in CALI!! great prices, low shipping…and it seems like the comp sticks he has are of a higher quality than the recent comp sticks…i think he has an older version of the same stick but seems more solid…lemme stop blabbering…
anyhow, bobs the man, definately give him a try, also, game cabinets inc. or whatever theyre called is supposed to be good too, they carry comp buttons over there… i avoid buying straight from happs as much as i can…i dunno why, rather give someone else my budiness…
What do you guys mean by double ground? I thought you were supposed to have two ground wires, one for down, right, R and L. And the other ground is for the rest. Was I not supposed to put two grounds like that? Err, I’m using
http://members.cox.net/joysticks/hack_dc_dreammaster.html as
a guide. (sorry for mentioning it again). Is that what you mean by double ground? or something else? Btw, thanks for all the help you guys have given me.
^ Agreed, you probably have a little piece of shit somewhere that is fucking it up, multimeter that shit down!!!
Some pads have 2-3 grounds, thats all that double ground means.
which brings me to this:
Does anyone know where I can get P360s and competition buttons other than happs? Cus they suck a fat one.
So I think I’m going to order some things from Bob Roberts. I’ve got a couple of questions first. I’ve done my best to look through this monster for the answer but I haven’t seen it layed out, exactly.
I’m in no way a fighter “pro” so I’m not keen on spending close to $100 for a stick. As such, I’m not going for a P360.
I understand the Ultimate Stick is weird in the diagonals. Does the heavy spring fix that? Otherwise should I go with the Competion Stick or the Super? Which is preferred aside from the P360?
http://www.oscarcontrols.com/joycompare/joyreview1.shtml
is the p360 as good as it is hyped to be? Doesnt it get tough for the diagonals? And why practice on a stick that’s better then the one at your arcade to only go back and screw all your combos going from a p360 to a ultimate/competition ?
That was quite helpful, thank you. Competition it is.
This may sound weird, but can I add pcbs to my Agetec to add systems? I like the feel of it, and it would be cheap. Since there are basically no DC->anything converters. Ideally, it would be DC/PSX/PC/GC, but at least adding PSX so I can convert to the rest.
