hey toodles just got my cthulhu in what is the best wire to use to duel mod my 360 se stick?30 AWG Kynar wire? i might not solder and just use two usb cords as you told me before. or might just use the imp board well see. thanks in advance
I think it depends if youâre going to be dual modding, i personally think 30 awg kynar is the best, but if youâre just going to be using it as the ps3 pcb, then you donât need to worry so much about the gauge of the wire, 24 should be fine, thereâs plenty of room on the cthulhu for thicker wire, the problems only start when soldering wire onto existing pcbs⌠ie Mad catz PCB
yeah it will be to duel modd my 360 se also edited my last post a bit so i would be a little more clear
But does it show up in the control panel applet? If so, then unplug it, add just the stick, plug it back in, and test the stick in the control panel applet.
definitely 30 AWG kynar wire then, for me i found that the 30awg was best to work withâŚ
if youâre using the screw down terminals, you should make sure 30awg is thick enough. you also need a good wire stripper that can easily strip 30.
i used 30 awg for my dual mods and it is very easy to work with.
Just finished throwing in a Cthulhu in a 360 TE. The stick is brand new, I got it mainly to test if I could do it, I never even got to try it stock on the 360 LOL⌠I also used an imp kit and wired it so that I could use the BACK/SELECT button to switch to the PS3. I found it much easier to hold the BACK/SELECT button than the guide button when switching to the PS3.
I got plexi on the top but didnât change the artwork, I like the stock look but didnt want my stock art getting scratched to hell like on my PS3 TE.
P.S. Thanks Toodles for the extra resistor network, I managed to salvage the other Cthulhu board.

Well, earlier when I plugged it in, I got nothing, this time though (no wires attached) I once again get the âOne of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize itâ. The same problem I was getting when it was wired up. D:
the board works great!! thanks!!!
Hey toodles, my stick works great with the MC Cthulhu and the Madcatz (retro) PCB that i put in it on my 360 and PS3/PC/PS2, but when i connect it to my Wii, it doesnât register my directional arrows, it reads them as the C button.
Before i put everything in my stick and closed it up, i checked the buttons by connecting a ground and touching to all the buttons on the MC Cthulhu with the wii game (GGXX^core) running, but now when i play it doesnât register as directions only as the C button, any ideas? iâll post pics if you need me to.
edit i have a DPDT switch and RJ45 Keystone Jack in place also, i made sure the switch was set so that it was on the MC Chtulhu side, as far as i know you have it set to auto register a gamecube controller if it doesnât read a PS3 or PS2, and the only one that needs to register is holding a directional on xbox startup.
Quick question, does the TE only work on the 360 with the switch flipped to DP, I tried it on LS and it doesnât register directions, the PS3 works on both LS and DP.
Mine is like that, I didnât understand either, seems to be a quirk of the 360 TE.
I would call that a âdoesnât workâ. You need to go through the troubleshooting steps linked to in the first post.
If the Wii is responding at all, then it is successfully in GC mode. Check the stick in Cthulhu mode on a PC; verify if moving the stick moves both the POV hat and the X/Y Axis and let me know.
The Cthulhu doesnât care about the LS, DP, or RS setting.
ok iâll check it out when i get home
Toodles, the cthulhu and GC extensions arrived. Thank you.
ok Toodles, i plugged it into my pc, it turns out the Select button had a short, it was constantly pressed, i unsoldered and resoldered and problem solved, the board now works and reads on my Wii, Yeah!!!
Ok, so I grabbed my cheap multimeter and started following the steps. Step 1 had it at less then 2. So going to Step 1A. the board was getting less then 1k (looks to be roughly 20). Unplugged the USB/wires as asked, still getting around 20. After looking on the back of the MC Cthulhu I could not see any solder together (though it looks as though parts near the USB Only are cutting it close). Tried a different cable, still didnât see any difference.
I did not check the diodes as Iâm not quite sure what Iâm looking for when it comes to the bands.
So Iâm guessing itâs a short? Maybe?
Maybe? No, there is a short. You absolutely will NOT get anywhere until itâs found and fixed.
Check underneath the two round can capacitors; the legs there are very close together, and the easiest place for an unnoticed short to be.
I just wanted to drop by and say that Toodles was very good about the order that a friend and I placed with him. My friend send the wrong amount of cash, and Toodles was cool enough to refund the extra and promptly send out the order. Cheers to you, sir.
Well, I mean, Iâm checking right now, and it doesnât look like you let any touch, and the only spot that looks like it might be iffy is between the 4 small capacitors (I think? Terminology wise, when it comes to this, Iâm dumbfounded, throw anything tech related at me and Iâm good to go -_-), but when looking closely, it seems as though they have a very small gap between them.
