I think you don’t know what the hell the word “strategy” means and are confusing it for the word “skill”.
You’re basically saying things like sitting an attack helicopter you earned in round one of domination(and every equivalent version of it in the series, a KS that sits in the air and pelts enemies for a short while) on top of B flag at the top of round 2 so that it’s hard to cap and distracts enemies while you oppress A(or C if that’s their main spawn) and potentially go for a triple cap, isn’t a strategy?
You’re saying placing a Guardian at the door of a crucial point in the map to slow down the forward advancement of the opposing team and force a cut off of one of the routes through the map to make their movements more predictable isn’t a strategy?
You’re saying placing a bombing run down one of the lanes of a map to force enemies toward the others and give yourself a free run to the other side of the stage isn’t a strategy?
You’re saying laying a care package in the middle of the map in FFA to bait the dimwitted or ballsy players into your line of sight for kills isn’t a strategy?
I mean, even getting a war machine and pointing it to the sky and emptying the clip while praying to god that it at least hits one person is a strategy.
So what the hell are you talking about sir?
It doesn’t take a mountain of skill to use the killstreaks, they aren’t rocket science, but they’re all about strategy, that’s the entire point. They require strategy to be properly used. You’re not going to get any kills with them unless you have some semblance of a strategy, even if it’s a simple one, even if it’s a dumb one. If your strategy is to run into a room full of enemies with the death machine you earned and hope you kill a couple of them before they push your shit in, that’s still a strategy despite the lack of cleverness or skillfulness.
I think he’s focusing on the idea that strategy in CoD is laughable considering the nature of it’s braindead gameplay. For all intents and purposes, you can pretty much run and gun and pop your killstreaks at any point with no real thought behind it. Do you really lose out in efficiency with them? Possibly but not to the point where it cripples you. CoD isn’t that clever and doesn’t really require any true thought processes behind your decision making, like CSGO or Battlefield. So I get a killstreak for an attack helicopter. I can use it right away(which most of the community does anyway) OR I can wait a few seconds for people to respawn. Big whoop? I mean, if you really want to call something so simple as strategy, then I guess a lot of games have “strategy”.
When I think CoD, strategy is the last thing that comes to mind.
Edit: I don’t want people to think I’m bashing the game. Being simple isn’t always a bad thing and CoD never advertised itself as being a deep shooter.
AW was fucking awesome but the guns never felt truly satisfying after the BAL nerf so i spammed nades and stickies. BO3 has better feeling guns even after they fucked with the gorgon (dingo <3) but its not as nade-y
A simple core doesn’t mean a game lacks depth. Getting by with the bare minimum doesn’t mean the bare minimum is all there is, it’s not the ceiling and it’s not the most efficient.
If you choose to dive deep it’s possible. Spraying or whatever the fuck “braindead” options you guys go with can get anyone by but you can do so much better if you think.
You don’t have to, but don’t pretend there aren’t people who play these games with strategy in mind.
I’m not saying COD is some ultra-deep thinker of a series, but there are a surplus of tools and ways to maximize your performance in this game via planning shit or or stopping for a second to consider the best way to use equipment and streaks.
That’s like saying “Street Fighter is mindless, how many people do you see online picking Ryu and mashing DP?”
Yeah there are plenty of idiots who try to make it doing lame shit that anyone with half a brain can counter act but it doesn’t make the entire thing braindead.
I’ve been playing CoD since MW2 and the only DLC I’ve ever bought for CoD was the first pack for BO3…Never again will I make the mistake of buying DLC.
Cod does have strategy… Those who say it doesnt have some form of strategy obviously have no idea what they are saying. Anyone who sais cod is easy it requires no skill usually has a 1.1kd with a really low win/loss. Ive only played 2-3 people with a w/l higher than mine and only a handful of people who have a higher kdr. And before people qq that w/l means nothing 90% of the time i run with 1 to 2 other people and only one of those people is actually good.
How to control a map and maintain map control for your derpy bitch ass team mates is huge in going for the win. Knowing how and where to headglitch is indeed strategy. Knowing what side of the map to hold and how to lock down a spawn trap is strategy. Knowing how to counter/attack an enemy team is strategy. Its not the absolute deepest strategy but it does exist and its quite obvious when you look at how people play this game 99% of the community never considers any of it at all.
I could count on one hand, the CoD4 maps that I didn’t enjoy, and even then those maps weren’t really bad. Not even exaggerating due to nostalgia, CoD4 maps were pretty amazing.
So that makes confirmed:
Crossfire
Backlot
Crash
Bog
Overgrown
My preferred last 5 would be:
Vacant
Showdown
Strike
Shipment
District
I’d like to see the DLC maps make an appearance (without me having to buy them again lol), Broadcast was cool, Chinatown fit well from the original CoD games and Creek was OK. Never played Killhouse much but it wasn’t bad either.
Vacant and Showdown are a must for me, but we’ll see what IW and/or Raven consider priority maps.
That goes without saying. On one hand, you have what was a legitimately good FPS. On the other hand, you have a title that follows the trend i.e coming after back to back summations of mediocrity and overall lackluster gameplay mechanics that were the recent CoD games.
Is that directed at me? Its because, like others, I am a fan of certain CoD games. With the announcement of CoD4 being remastered, my interest has naturally been piqued even though it’s going to be bundled with a game that I am not impressed by in the slightest. Of course, that’s based on not only what we’ve seen thus far but my feelings toward the CoD franchise as of recently.
Honestly, I just wanted to see what kind of answer you’d come up with. I was going to be disingenuous, but that’s a trait I find to be really, really obnoxious.
Tomorrow, I’m going to get some significant time in with BO3 for the first time since replacing my PS4 last week (beyond an hour or two in all this time). I really miss my headset. Ear buds will have to do until my birthday. I’ve barely scratched the surface of the game, so everything is still very fresh.
Solid day with Black Ops 3. The game is the least camper friendly of the Black Ops series, but I still feel right at home. I do miss x2 Shock charges/ bouncing Betties though. I think I’m a 1.46. I just stared using the bow chick because I unlocked a legendary hood for her. Got a few kills with the bow, but I miss the war machine.
