The Official Borderlands 2 Thread: Wub wub

Sorry Akimbo for jetting that quick a situation arose that involved me being in the bathroom for quite awhile.

Lmfao. Gonna play the new DLC after class.

This is my 700th comment.

Just bought the game last night, didn’t get a chance to make it past character select by the time I got the season pass/updates.

In 1 I played mordecai (90% of time) and lillith, and I’m having trouble choosing between gaige and zero. The person I’ll be playing with the most plans to use Maya, anyone have thoughts on a good pairing? I saw jae hoon said siren x2 was fun… I guess any pairing could be decent with how balanced the game seems to be.

Yeah, the game is pretty balanced, so, depending on people’s builds can affect how well you can play in CO-OP.

Yeah I figured. Just have time to think about these sorts of things while working on a boring project at work. Reading through this thread made me a touch nervous about going MP Zer0… But I’m sure its not bad, just not optimal.

I find the laser sight pointless for your turret. I had it leveling up, but ditched it once I realized it was kind of useless. Totally recommend moving those points to Able, especially since you haven’t put any into preperation yet. With points in both, you’re pretty much always going back to full health.

Everyone is fine solo, but compared to others she lacks. Without Ruin or Converge she cannot clear Mobs as well as other classes. Even with those abilities you as a player need to do more to take advantage of it. Ruin is fine and dandy, but unless the enemy magically bunched up for you it’s really going to only hit one or two people. On a regular basis I fight far more than two people. So at that point you are relying on weaponry which anyone can do.

On the other hand, she is REALLY good at beating the piss out of a single target. If the table was reversed on who can do the most damage to a single target, I’d easily have Maya and Zero at the top of the list. If I’m doing co-op and I am playing one of those classes or have one on my team, once I see a Badass pop up I know who is going to tussle with them.

Sure Maya CAN do some pretty awesome crowd control by going fully down Cataclysm and dumping the rest into Motion, but then we get into a specific build and not a generalizing. Even then no matter what Tree I am going down, a Commandos Turret is going to do what it needs to do all the time, which is clear out mobs wholesale while soaking up damage. Salvador’s Gunzerking no matter the tree is going to give him two weapons and some additional buffs to murder the crap out of stuff. Mechro’s Deathtrap is going to Berzerker Barrage through people no matter the spec.Going Solo overall is pretty easy, even with just one person added into the game I can tell there is a significant difference compared to just me running around.

She is pretty great though and I want to try a full Motion tree with her, see what that would do. I really think the only lacking character is Zero still, his trees are kind of haphazard and his ability is nice but from a different perspective as everyone else. Hell even my fully specced out Melee build right now is just poor compared to others, and I’m maxing it out through Relics, Class Mods, and weaponry.

Downloading the new stuff now, I wonder if I can hop in from PT2 and see how many times I can get Pirate murdered.

You must have missed where I said I was going to slap some points into Preparation. Also, is there actual proof of the Laser Sight being pointless on your turret? I see people arguing for and against it.

About an hour ago, steam didn’t have an update for blands, but i’m updating it now. so i’m guessing it’s live now

This shit’s Tremors as fuck!

I have 5 points on it and it seems to cause the turret to target things much further away than it normally would. It also seems to make it shoot enemies who are on the run much better—like it’ll lead them.

I’ve also seen some debates on the usefulness of the Phalanx Shield. I mean, it’s no Scorched Earth, and it doesn’t double the health of the turret like Longbow, but it works well enough, even in TVHM, at least for me. The shield could maybe use a slight buff, but it would be pretty op if it was much stronger than it is. Gemini definitely benefits from it, and it gives you time to reload/recharge shields.

Ok, so after capping Maya I respecced her and this is my current build now:

For me it was a no brainer that I was going to start by going down the Cataclysm tree, and after that tree I wanted to invest in Motion to make Maya as overpowered as possible. For the most part really I rely on her Phaselock’s status effects to get me out of Flight or Fight mode, but after going more than halfway down Motion I realized that I don’t really like the effects it gave me nor was I really having any fun with it. Then I specced to Harmony and played with a few friends.

Totally different experience.

Harmony Maya is a blast with friends. Healing people from across the map, healing them with shots, life orbs from the Phaselock, ect. Having her on the team pretty much takes away any worry anyone may have about health. On top of all these health buffs, she can drop individual enemies like a fucking boss. Not even Zero can really match how much damage she does on a single target, which is very helpful with bosses and Badasses.

Now, jumping over to Gaige. This is my current build:
http://www.borderlands2.com/us/skilltree/mechromancer.html

Gaige seems like the hardest solo character right next to Zero. It might just seem like that due to her Anarchy stacks, I dunno, but overall she doesn’t seem to be very powerful. I didn’t want to just go to town on the BFF tree because I really didn’t want to just rely on Deathtrap romping around raping everything in sight on his own. Little Big Trouble provides damage buffs/status effects that span between both Deathtrap AND Gaige, therefore Gaige gets stronger as a character herself AS WELL as Deathtrap.

Overall she’s a really good character with a lot of options. People who want a true challenge can start with the Anarchy tree, and people who want something a little easier can start with BFF or LBT and ride the buffs and perks of those trees until they decide that they want to invest in the Anarchy tree.

It’s alright. Like 2 minuets after you left, Onslaught came in and did the same XD

Odd how you guys were both Gaige.

New annoying enemy sure to be on most peoples list: Powder Monkey. Throws explosives at you that detonate quickly, damage is decent but the real kicker is that they knock you away at a good distance. Annoying when traversing stairs or rocky areas.

I got a level 31 Stink whatever from No Beard, the Jakobs Elemental weapon. I have no use for it if anyone wants to trade. Also the heads aren’t automatic, lame.

I’m on 360, and downloading the new Pirate DLC was taking forever via the In-game menu. I couldn’t find it on the marketplace. So what I did was start the download in-game, then hit cancel, went to the dashboard, under settings > account > download history, and restart the download on the dashboard. It downloads much faster this way. I had it in about a minute or two. The In-game download was going 1% per minute.

I have two Siren builds that I switch between. One for Solo and one for Co-op.

Co-op:
http://talent.87bazillion.com/2/siren.php?000000000014351104005005014551
All the skills that are 1/5 get +4 boost from classmods, along with flicker and helios(class mod dependent)
I find the Infinity gun works great with restoration.

Solo:
http://talent.87bazillion.com/2/siren.php?505001420011000000005005014551
Again, the reason I put any points into Mind’s Eye and Sweet Release is because they get a +4 boost with a class mod.

Most annoying enemies in the game so far?

My votes are:

  1. Rabid Stalkers

  2. Rabid Skags

  3. ANY kind of Thresher

I’m not saying that the laser sight literally does nothing, it’s just that the accuracy of the turret doesn’t seem to be so bad that I need to waste 5 talent points in making it more accurate. Rockets are the only real damage, the bullets are there just so you can get slag on the enemies. Ever since I removed the 5 points from that skill, I haven’t noticed a reduction at all. Of course I also no longer rely on the turret to get kills, which is a big difference from leveling up as well.

And Rabid Stalkers are definitely the most annoying enemy so far I have run into

Okay, seeing a regular midget ride atop a midget Goliath’s shoulders is pretty damn funny.

As for Hyperion shotguns, they’re my favorite if I can get a decent initial accuracy. Most of the time, they’re pretty awful until the last few shots. The rare exception will shrink the crosshairs down to just about the size of a bandit head for a nice faceshot.

I do not like Hyperion weapons, by the time you get any accuracy for firing the clip is almost done.
