I like support classes too, but since I play solo about 50% of the time, and because damage to go along with CC is always helpful, I’m speccing Cata. I use Nurse mods with +Sweet Release too. Come expansion, I’ll start speccing more into Harmony to at least get Res if the cap is increased to 60. How useful is the new Cauterize?
Motion, for now, is the “Some mandatory talents but not enough to spec deep” tree. Phantasy said earlier the Phaselock’s timer doesn’t reset once it jumps from Sub-Sequence, and I don’t know why you’d choose a slightly-longer confusion over pure stopping an enemy when the firepower gain is questionable. Plus, longer CD.
I found an E-Tech shotty last night and was underwhelmed. Maybe because it’s not actually a shotgun at all and more of a grenade launcher with very small splash and not-too-impressive shock damage on direct hit compared to a normal shotgun.
Fun Fact: Borderlands 1 was originally to have a grenade launcher family of weapons separate from rocket launchers, but was scrapped during development (too similar to normal nades? Seems like they could’ve come up with some unique effects). Evidence remains in the game files, and one can even be fully recreated in-game:

I’ve always thought about that for Borderlands 3. Different gun families, different brands. I’m suprised they didn’t add new additions of either of those things.
Think about it, Flamethrowers, grenade launches, lazers, lock on weapons, ect ect. That’d be fucking awesome.
Also, what happened to Atlas brand items?
Atlas no longer exists after you kill General Knox in the first game.
Hopefully BL3 incorporates armors, like the original design plan intended - and maybe melee weapons.

Well yeah, but that wasn’t a reason to totally remove the brand. Atlas made some of my favorite guns in the first one.

yeah i have a lv30 conference call. dropped from my first run of the warrior. tried to farm the warrior some more - no more oranges ;[
found a second bee shield, level27 though. really low capacity, around 900 something, the amp damage is 3000something. pretty lame.
That build seems pretty solid to me, especially if you’re soloing. I play with my BF all the time cause he wants us to level at the same pace (cause I probably would gotten power lvl’d either by a desperate guy on Steam on one of my friends ). So… I’m always in co-op mode. Even when I played BL1. I don’t think I solo’d for very long cause everyone I knew played, why I went heavy into the Harmony tree so I can heal myself and others.
I need to get the Season Pass so I can be ready the DLCs. But, NYC Comic Con is next week so… Saving whatever money I can until after that.
siren is a very underwhelming solo class. pretty bummed out about that.

I was gonna do my first run through with Gaige before I learned she wasn’t going to be released WITH the game.
The Siren is actually a pretty great solo class, though. You just have to work a little harder and focus on making your Phaselock unstoppable, as well as learn when to use it.
I wonder what the lore behind S&S not appearing again is. I liked their guns too.
I would play co-op more, but all of my friends are busy right now or I’m busy when they are, and my main co-op friend wants me to wait for him. So I farm Lynchwood/Sheriff and get bloated on levels and money. Also my Internet was janky until literally 10 minutes ago. I’m back, bitches?
Yeah, I don’t always feel like I’m in control as Maya. The times I do feel great, though. It’s kind of a gamble based on what you’re fighting, whether Phase is on cd, cover, etc. I don’t think she’s bad, but she was clearly meant to be more focused on support. Meanwhile, my commando and zerker friends do fine solo.
Interested in seeing Gaige’s other trees. One of them appears to be… shock-based? Imma keep her normal colors, though. Her current head is cute but I want to see what the others are.

Maya as a solo character is lacking.
Running Motion+Cataclysm for my “I shall DOT you from afar and run away build.” Also, mostly avoiding stuff that requires my opponent be phaselocked since that shit is screwed against certain bosses… and threshers ugh.

lilith was incredibly broken, but there were ways to tone her back down in terms of character balance.
maya is a very strong support character due to res, and her soloing ability is pretty underwhelming
if she had something like lilith’s blackout skill she’d be completely fine

phasewalk was broken, quicksilver was ridiculously good, blackout was good, she had smg ammo regen and hellfire/double anarchy were 2 of the top 5 guns in the game
this is what lilith did to mobs
run in, set everything on fire/corrode, if anything died phoenix activated and stacked more fire damage, if she was about to die, phasewalk out (also doing more corrosion damage usually), usually enemies died by this time and blackout refills the cooldown, so when she gets out of phasewalk she has another one already ready
this is what she did to bosses
shoot them with an smg, if she’s about to die phasewalk and run to the other side of the map
phasewalk wasn’t just invisible, she was completely invincible and moved faster.
when it comes to maya:
out of all her skills, wreck has the most potential. up to 50% increase fire rate, and extra gun damage. problem is sometimes there isn’t anything to phaselock against certain unPLable enemies like terra, i believe.
phaselock itself is a cool skill. I like ruin. it’s just almost underwhelming as a final tier, but it’s pretty good.
scorn is completely underwhelming. it takes too long to activate to truly take advantage of phaselock (phaselock + scorn and you have very little phaselock left) if it had less cooldown + the animation was faster, or even if the ball itself homed or was bigger, it would truly deserve being a final tier.
thoughtlock is pretty terrible
I wondered why Maya doesn’t have something similar to Blackout. Perhaps a talent where killing an enemy during Lock refunds some of the cooldown based on how much Lock was left, in a vein like Axton’s turret. I think SubSeq tried to emulate this indirectly but ended up not working due to oversights. Overall, the dev team probably feared creating another Lilith, so they split her up and toned her down, and that’s why we have Zer0 and Maya.
Then again, I don’t have as much connection to Lilith as the old Lilith mains (think I only got mine to 40 or something) because I was too engrossed in making things explode with my fists and trying to catch up with my Lilith friend.
Maybe Locking immune enemies should stagger them. Still wouldn’t put it on par with Walk, but it might help. Maybe also Sweet Release proccing on an immune enemy if it doesn’t work, or a weakened version of it.
At least I may have finally picked broken based on appearances with Gaige. Yay
