so, after playing this shit a bunch post patch, i kinda want them to leave the suppression as is.

right now, it forces you to fight with your team, and from behind cover. tactics are very strong over individual shooter skills. i can play it either way, but this feels right to me

on a side note, you gotta try the MASS under barrel shotgun with plain ol buckshot. seems like the best pump action shotgun in the game

New suppression doesn’t bug me much I’ve never lost a fire-fight and been like “Fuck I would’ve blown him up if I could’ve seen him” mostly it’s because my aim was ass or the guy had a buddy that finished me off.

Suppression needs to be toned down. If you have a team that is just spray with LMGs that have large clips, there is really nothing you can do about it.

maybe i havent played such a team yet, but the LMGs dont seem too strong even with suppression to me. i saw the vids, maybe its worse on computer

besides, thats kinda what LMGs are supposed to do, right? lay down heavy cover fire to keep people locked down. as a trade off, they arent that great by themselves unless you get a bipod

The only time I spray with an LMG is down a choke point and it’s with a belt-fed LMG not named the M249. Still annoyed that I still get killed by Supports that run around with the Saw and just use it like a FAMAS with 100 rounds -_-

I think the problem with suppression is that your guy just stops shooting accurately when you get suppressed and combined with the ridiculous amount of blur then its a bit much. They need to tone down the blur or fix the accuracy underfire because its just saving sprayers who cant control their guns properly for the kill at the moment and its also just draining ammo as you attempt to counter suppress so you run out faster. On the plus side I played a normal ticket game last night and got 14 supply ribbons in 1 round.

MASS Buck? Dart is so much better. Part of the reason is because its just a sudden burst of suppress over distance so they cant hit you and you reload and one shot them from range with little need for accuracy. The little need for accuracy also makes it really good to counter suppression as it cancels out the inaccuracy penalty when suppressed. Its so good that people are just running round with the dart now instead of the USAS frags…

ive tried darts and other shit, but buck seems like its more effective for one shot kills. like i took a bad shot and hit a guy in the arm today. he killed me, but the shot put him on 33%. really strong.

i’ll go back and check darts again, but it seemed like it was always taking 2 shots when i played with it

You have to use the M26 MASS Dart as an under slung attachment. That’s what makes it stupid good, almost broken. I use it on the G3.

G3 has the underslung attachment? Guess I’ve overlooked that gun way too much.

edit Question with the M26 and M320 + underslung attachment. Do they act like a foregrip in any way? As in, give lesser spray recoil?

the buckshot set up i run is ok tho.

G3 is very low capacity and not great at close because of the low RoF and high recoil when fully unloading the clip in CQC but if you’re mid-long range then its a really amazing gun. I really enjoy using it, I used the M26 with it because its basically a 2nd primary weapon and can help you with the close range fights as well as saving you from reloading when you’re in a tight spot with enemies around you.

Weird because most of those kills in that vid were just the same distance as you can get with a flechette round in a shotgun and I also heard its only when you ADS that the “glitch” occurs. I don’t think its really a bug, its not like its doing something it shouldn’t, it just seems like a really OP combination of heavy barrel increasing the range of ammo from the gun with long distance shotgun ammo.

Either way I’m not really a fan of the heavy barrel even after the patch so I don’t bother to use that because it means my primary gun doesn’t suit my play but still the Dart raw is awesome, occasionally it takes 3 shots for some reason but usually its just 1 or 2 at close to mid range

im not too sure about it yet. i hopped online to check it, and asked some of my crew what they thought, and they said people are complaining about it a lot over on the BF3 official forums. then i searched it on youtube and like 30 vids popped up

i think its like you say tho. ADS with heavy barrel gives it strong mid range capability.

i ran darts a few games without heavy barrel, and i think buckshot ammo is better. darts take 2 shots at times when they shouldnt.

on a side note i kept getting scraped by dudes running slugs in a USAS. lol. in like 3 different rooms. i dont think its good at all, but i think people are looking for the replacement to frags

Things I expect from DICE logic in the next patch:

One of the 200 point ribbons for making 2 successful spots, any spots not resulting in a kill should count as 0.5 spots towards the ribbon.
Melee medal should be every 3 knifes and the ribbon should need 12 knifes in a round.
Gain 10 points for every 4.3 yards you travel in a vehicle for surviving that long without getting hit by an RPG.
No scopes should reward you with biscuit treats.
If you get killed by a pistol then all your points that round should be reset but if you use a pistol to destroy an LAV then you gain an extra 10 points for your kill so it balances out.
MG36 should have its reload time tripled and it shouldn’t have anywhere to put any bullets at all, then take the RPK make it 800 capacity with ability for DART attachment and a 1 second reload with no recoil.
To make it even easier to gain points for having a terrible aim, on top of the suppression ribbons, there will now be a ribbon for emptying a full clip into the floor while spinning into a wall in blind noob “I can’t play inverted” panic.

Recon IS kinda balls. Still have a ways to go to get my service medal for Recon =/

As someone who played BC2 his idea of getting rid of Sniper Rifles is ass. 1HK Sniper Rifles to the head only is not the problem and I have no issue with that. They really fucked over the Recon kit by getting rid of the mortar strikes and the Tracking Ball.

As the current game is all you can really do with the recon is this.

  1. Make the Spawn Bacon have it to where you just spawn on it, not parachute down. Parachuting down makes it nigh worthless outside.

  2. When you spot things with the MAV, HAVE THE FUCKING GAME ACTUALLY SPOT THEM. For some reason they thought BC2 spotting was too good I guess because it actually showed up for everyone. In BF3 you can spot someone 10 times and your team still will not know it because nothing shows up, not in front of them, not on the map, nothing. I do not know why this has become such a problem in this game when it was not before.

  3. Take out any scope that is over 8x. That will help curb alot of the I am going to snipe from Mount Everest, bushwookies.

  4. Give the recon class some PDW that are recon only, and make sure they aren’t eh like 90 percent of them are.

  5. GIMME BACK MY FUCKING MORTARS!

  6. Give the Tugs a beacon it sends out in a circle, similar to the motion sensors in COD.

I have said from the start that Recon was by far the worst class and it is not even close. They nerfed the shit out of this from BC2 and it is chilling with Vega from SF4 and She Hulk in UMVC3 in the why do they hate us room.

1: Spawn bacon is also coming in the next patch with the things I mentioned earlier. Everybody loves bacon and it helps get people ready for the times ahead, if I’m going out on the battlefield then let it be with a full belly of bacon as I spawn. More seriously, it should have an option of deploying by land or air because chuting in can really help you gain a lot of ground and get in behind the enemy so I wouldn’t want it removed completely.

2: MAV shows them up on the mini map but I think they probably stopped it showing them as spots because you can basically spot the whole team out and it gets a bit much if theres 12 doritos buzzing around the screen.

3: If you give the Mountaineers an iron sight on a sniper rifle then they will still smack their beacon down on the mountain further away than any other point their squad can spawn and they will still just sit there and try for their 1 kill per game with a couple of spots here and there. Its just what they do and there is no stopping it, though I think things were a little better when there was no 12X scope.

4: It feels like PDWs and Shotguns need their own class. If they were recon though then I think people might complain because a tugs and a shotgun or MP7 ext mag is a campers dream come true.

5: Calling in mortars was a much better idea, it was especially good for consoles because it didn’t take any people out of the fight. Spawn traps in this game can be tough to get out of and really boring when its just a barrage of sniper fire and effective mortars with nobody in range to shoot at. Sometimes you get games of rush where your team of smurfs has 3 snipers and 4 guys using mortars randomly crapping them all over the map not killing anyone and then it just ends up being a couple of guys trying to take on a team of 12. 1 sniper with a strong but slow recharge mortar would be better so I agree with you that BC2 ones should come back.

6: Tracking ball was good. Between getting rid of the MAV and the tugs I would choose they keep the tugs and remove the MAV because tugs is more defensive while MAV helps teams move forward. Track balls stop transmitting after a short time but they can cover distance and so they’re really more useful on the offensive so for example you can tell where an enemy is in a building they’re camping in etc. MAV just takes people out of the fight and, as I mentioned with mortars, 12v12 cant spare that as it really kills the pace of the game with the lack of players actually fighting.

You can tell so much of the game was built with PC player count in mind and little thought for consoles. Recon is very tough on console compared to PC but they wont give consoles a different set of tools because they want to keep the game the same across all platforms.
