I was watching it on the treadmill at the gym, reading the subtitles. Roddick kept complaining that he couldn’t see the ball and that it was a lil bit too cloudy, and kept trying to make it apparent for the longest time and was trying to drag inbetween points. All while Monfils was rushing down.
It’s too bad cause Monfils was playing amazing tennis, so even if Andy was playing in what he thought could be optimal conditions he probably would’ve still gotten beat like he did anyway.
what was andy’s excuse in the first set when he had a break point after being broke? i think he even had 2, the court was well lit then. usually by around 9 paris time it does start to get dark but he had lost 2 sets by then and everyone knew waiting another day wouldnt change anything. Andy’s play style isnt suited for todays game, although he has made strides to get much fitter(and he has by a lot) he still doesnt have the athletic ability to move on the courts with the top players. his strokes are solid but none of them really strike fear and if you don’t have that you better have amazing defense which i dont find he has. He’s never going to win another major but he can remain top 10 for atleast another year maybe 2 if he stays focused. I really like andy but he’s over the hill and the next gen of players are here to stay but sadly none of them come from U.S.A…
donald young…he’s never gonna be top 25, i can see him making top 100 eventually but i dont think he has the mental game nor the power to compete with big dogs. Sam Querry? potential flop, i dont see him ever doing anything special outside of a hardcourt, maybe he can reach top 50 but his future isnt too bright either.
