The Official ATP Tennis thread

This match is sooo good. I can’t believe I’ve been staying up for this…

Five setter baby!!!

This is rediculously great tennis, it makes me want to play if it wasn’t like 3 degrees outside and if we weren’t buried under a few feet of snow.

5th set is about to drop yo.

Nadal is just TOO good. TOO GOOD.

Nadal isn’t as good as Federer was. Truth.

I definitely feel like Federer had a bit of a mental collapse on that final set. He couldn’t get a first serve in for the life of him.

You don’t beat Stiffler without getting punished, sorry Roger.

plenty of room on the bandwagon.:lovin:

fed just fell apart the last set. i say fed doesnt tie sampras till next year if at all. he’s gotta hope for nadal to get injured or some shit.

ssjtin-you cant run nadal out of gas. also nadal is just starting his reign. who knows how good this kid will get. he may be the best ever. plenty of time for him. hes only 22 and with 6 majors. bright future for him.

nadal/verdasco was the slam final imo. fed should give is 2nd place to verdasco.

nice speech by federer. real men cry. thats right, i said it.

stop hating…nadal is greatness

fuck all you roddick fans, i hope that nigga faces nadal and federer for the rest of his career, GET RAPED

bandwagon? i called nadal winning this shit before the verdasco match. roll with the winners

I’m not hating. I know that right now Nadal deserves no.1 spot, but he still doesn’t dominate the way Fed did, so I wouldn’t say he is as yet “too good”. He could get there, but I’m keeping hopes up for Fed to build meter back. His unforced errors are just too bad, and you just know they’re coming.

you called him winning RIGHT before the match. up until then it was all federer. but its ok. both are respectable. :lovin::arazz:

damn its always epicniess whe n this two mofos play

I am too much of a nigga to play tennis, but damn these two make me want to try.

Man Tennis is fucking hard.

I tried it. Man. Shit’s tough.

I hit the ball, and it flies like 100 miles in some random direction

Yea, I tried playing ONCE in my life and the dude like you need to put top spin on the ball when I kept hitting it into the car lot. I had the  look, never tried since then.

this match shouldnt have even gone 5 sets. if fed would have gotten at least 50% of his first serves in thru the match it would have been over in 4. this match was decided by serve, both were equally as impressive on their ground strokes but equally as terrible on their serves until the 5th set when nadal finally found his serve. i’m still speechless that fed couldnt serve, thats usually a HUGE strength for him. on top of that he was not punishing those short second serves on nadals side, it fucking kills me to see federer GIVE this match to nadal.

now if verdasco had played this was either a quick 4 setter or a one sided 3 setter to fed. i dont give a damn how well verdasco has played, the fed effect plays into everyone except nadal in finals. seems like nadal has a similar effect on feds serve…:shake::shake::shake::shake::shake::shake::shake::shake::shake::shake::shake:

if nadal wasnt around fed would have 19 slams, oh well i’m pulling for him to win the french then break petes record at wimbledon.

It’s good that he is, though. At least you know that as Federer gets older should something happen you have Nadal to carry the sport. Unlike golf which has been The Tiger Woods Game for the last 10 years. Nobody cared about it since his surgery.

That being said, both men are beasts. How many times did they go back and forth in amazing style for a hard-earned point, only to see the other wipe the smile off their face with an ace on the next serve? All the damn trick shots and up-to-the-net attacks. This was nothing short of spectacular.

Only bad part is having to wait until May for the French Open. Or, as some of us like to call it, Nadal’s Castle, World 8 - 4.

you can’t just say federer gave it up, nadal had the better gameplan by far. nadal constantly put pressure on fed’s backhand the entire match. there were so many 2nd serves that fed could’ve blasted with forehands, but you gotta give credit to Nadal for knowing how conservative fed was going to be. he only did that 1-2 times the entire match=/

also, the majority of the time, its not that fed fails to convert break poiints, its nadal that simply won’t let him.

Finally saw a match, the men’s final last night.

Poor Roger, you can really feel his pain but he has noone to blame but himself. He wasn’t very consistent on his serve and like last wimbledon, he isn’t using much his backhand slice when it’s very obvious the Rafa is having a very hard time with that slice. And Roger should impose a rule on Rafa, “there’s no such thing as a winner against him, he should put in mind that every hit ball is coming back.” There’s a lot of times when Roger would relax after a very good hit shot thinking it would be a winner then suddenly get shocked that Rafa got it back good.

Good for Rafa, he has finally won a hardcourt Slam. But I ain’t still jumping in bandwagon, imo, he is the best defensive player ever but 'til he completes his game, i’ll be riding on the FedEx.

 Ain’t this the fucking truth. Tennis is hard as hell, and you’ll gain a great appreciation for the level the pros are playing at by trying it.
