To Effay

Spiral builds a lot of meter she doesn’t really need so Cable is really good in the second spot. Not only that but if you hit with his AA assist you have more than enough time to load swords. With Sent ground assist backing him up the amount of space he can control when on point is nuts. DHC from Cable to Sent is also really safe and painful as well.

Capcom’s AA assist is as good as it gets to get the opponent off you and works great with Sent as well.

You won’t have as many traps without Blackheart but the ones with Sent are all you really need. Might as well have better backup for if the traps don’t go well.

Okay, you were right, it’s been working pretty well. I’ve had to tweak my CapCom game to accommodate these assists, but that fact is actually helping me get better at using Commando’s stuff.

I had the same thoughts. The main problem I’m having is that Bison is really, really hard to play. I have to plan everything slightly earlier than usual because all his inputs are half-circles and charges, and deciding which of his four orbs to use at any given time can be a rather daunting task against some opponents. Learning how to make sure Bison’s Variety assist actually connects seems to be improving my assist usage across the board, so that’s a plus. :karate:

Yeah, everything is better with Cyclops, but I tend to rely on him too much, so I’m avoiding him lately. Sonson works great, I just need to actually get half-decent with her before I feel comfortable with that team.

Right now I use Cable CapCom and Mega Man/Tron.
Anything wrong/imbalanced there?

irorman/drdoom/akuma all AAA

My mix of top/low tier team. Decent?

Nope. You can use Mega man/Cable/Tron Or MM/Cable/Capcom.

Yeah, it’s decent.

captain america/guile/colossus

and

jin/juggernaut/ice man

any tips

Hey guys kinda new here, well i’m using Akuma/Cyclops/Cable right now, thing is Akuma isn’t getting me very far right now, can anyone recommend a good drop in replacement?

I would say Storm. Just me though.

Sup red.

I would probably change the order of cyc and cable first, and throw a mag or storm in there. Sentinel would also be really good, but if any of these characters are too hard to use effectively as a point for you I would just go with someone easy like a doom and put cable on point.

Line Ups…

Well, Id play Cable/Storm/Clops. Id start Cable first, because he most likely will get some hvb’s in against early opponent’s tendency to assist aggressively early on. Thats not a given, but it happens occasionaly. Storm second, in case snapbacks occur, but Id feel comfortable even with Clops being snapped in. Clops last, because most likely the match will be close, and his beam can do great game-changing chip damage. Thats my personal line, but practicing with all evenly, can have you rotate without bias.

You know, in heavy casuals or tourney play, Magneto up first kinda gets beat down. Vids of tourney play of Mags being beat badly, to the point he has to tag out or HC into Hailstorm is a serious problem. A great Mags player really doesnt have this prob, but if youre not an elite Mags player, Id suggest starting Sentinel or whichev player is your strongest. If Mags is the strongest, then continue practicing on his moblity, since most of the time he slips up, and eats Capcom assist. FRUSTRATING!!! Movement is key with Mags, since assist tend to knock him off his game. Storm doesnt have this prob, cause shes not as aggressive as Mags, and can create offense f/defense i.e Hailstorm. The same with Sentinel, his Hyp.sent force is defensive mainly, but is transformed into offense. Magneto on the other hand, doesnt have defensive tactics, WHY SHOULD HE?, HES THE BEST!!! But, that one key flaw, continues to have him take the most damage out of the three in that line-up. I tend to rotate, meaning I have no specific order with MSS, or SSM, or SMS, or…you see? So, actually rotating helps keep each character fresh, meaning you focus on their flaws and pros in a even rotation. I think thats the best way to play that line, it also keeps your opponent off-guard somewhat, because they have to constantly change their stradegy against each line-up you present.

Hmmmm…Thats a tough one. Well, Id start Colossus first, since he has the best standing combos-damage. Hes more mobile than the other two, so Id start him first. Also, glitching Juggs, and then combining Colossus with that? MAN!!! That takes a crapload of damage. Hulk, has no real quick hit combos, and is kinda predictable i.e gamma charge/gamma crush, peps see it coming a mile away. He does give attack chip damage, so thats a plus. Overall, thats just too SLOW of a team to be formidable against higher tiers. If you substituted Hulk with Sentinel, then the team all of a sudden looks like a powerhouse of a team. I would still practice with the team, because practicing always breaks open another can of whoopdy-doo MvC2 suprises…
Oh!!! There are a couple of Hulk combos I forgot about. Hulk/Colossus: Launch w/Hulk, Colossus Anti-air/Gamma Crush. Takes a lot, because Colossus’ assist knocks them upwards, right into the Gamma, which Hulk connects the whole thing all the way down to the surface. Hulk/Juggs: Glitch Juggs…Launch w/Hulk, Juggs dash type OR variety type (where he flops on the ground)/Gamma Crush. This does massive damage as well. There are other great assist types for the Gamma Crush. BlackHeart-anti-air, Dhalsim-Anti-air OR ground type, are just a few. Theyre great because the assist knocks them up into the Gamma, and Hulk takes them down hard.

If I were you, Id choose Dhalsim/Cammy/Clops over Captcom. The reason Id replace him with Cammy, is because she has the same anti-air attributes, and shes a much better 1 on 1 fighter than Captcom. Reversals, nice combos, cross-ups, and nice supers, she is better overall than Captcom, plus shes quicker.
Also, being snapped out to Cammy, is much more of a comfortable situation opposed to being snapped to Captcom. Dhalsim is kinda hard to play with, mainly because of his speed and floating properties while jumping. You have to be really patient with his movements, like Anakaris or Spiral. I think you should stick with this team…

Cammy AAA doesn’t have the same attributes at Capcom AAA at all. Cammy’s assist only hits one target, as opposed to Commando. Cammy is invincible before she hits, Capcom isn’t. Commando’s attack also hits a much larger area, and higher up.

It all comes down to what you want your assist to do.

not teams many people use i take it?

Wow! Didn’t expect approval on my first go.

team with sakura at point, I usually go with capcom/tron next. Good idea?

Guile can do pretty well vs sent from what I’ve heard and seen. Always use his anti-air assist. So that’s one “low tier” that could compete vs a god.

Either drop colossus or Captain America for a God, and you’ll be good. If you pick Sent you’ll get a great assist(pick drones) and Guile AA can help Sent out too. Cable owns sent tho, so that’s the only draw back. If you pick Sent, I’d recommend you play someone that could own cable(not sure how Guile does vs him). And I’m pretty positive colossus and Captain gets owned by Cable.

If you pick storm, you won’t have any bad match ups, but her assist is only OK. In return, you can play two characters you like. I strongly recommend you keep Guile on your team of choice, since he can fight sent, unlike 90% of the cast.

For your second team, I’d recommend the same thing. Drop a character for a God(or in this case Dr.Doom, since his rock assist works very well with ice man and Juggy). Jin is your AA, but Jin isn’t very good… AT ALL . Best thing Jin can offer you is, his great AA. That’s it. Best character out of your second team would be Juggy, so make sure not to drop him(unless u really want to).

Dark sakura has a 0 start up and 0 recover on her teleport, so pick someone that can build that bar fast and safe(A.K.A a battery). You want this character to go first and have Sakura second. The best battery out of the Gods would be Magneto. Storm and Sent can build that bar too, how ever, they both also really like to use it, magneto doesn’t need meter.
Other then Magneto giving u meter, he doesn’t offer much else to the team, meaning no good assist(his projectile assist is ok).

The best battery in the game is Spiral. If u decide to use her, use Sent Drones. A lot of people don’t fuck with her anymore, but Duc won evo 2k5 with her, so she can still compete. + you can safe tag people in with Spiral, so no meter wasted. If u use this team, you won’t have a AA, which sucks.

You can also try Sent/Sakura/Capcom. Now you have two REALLY great assist. And Sent with his best AA? No joke there. Basically you’re using sent as a battery now. He won’t be as good as Spiral(no where near), but he can get the job done(just not as fast as spiral).

Another good battery would be Omega Red. I would only recommend u using him if you want to “low tier” it up a bit. He does pretty well vs Magneto, but has problems vs the other 3(Cable and Storm being the worse). Since you like Tron, Try Omega(AA)/Sakura/Tron. I personally don’t use omega with Tron(I use Doom rocks or sent), but i know Mixup has a great thread about Omega and Tron.

Been playing Guile A/ Rouge B/ Iron man A
i wanna keep Guile and rouge looking for a good third
