Well when my laptop was up and running NONE of you guys were around for SFA2. Now that I have been off the kaillera scene, people want SFA2. Where were you guys?! :annoy:. Anyways, hopefully I will get a new laptop soon and will be able to bring back my Sodom and Rolento.
Chun’ is the best character in the game. The only thing holding her back in A3 was her lack of easy VC’s, and recently people have been VCing fine with her, so she went way up on the tier list. Right below the top 4 I believe.
She’s always broken anyway. Every non-VS game she’s been in, she’s had something abusable, and she’s always been loaded with priority. She’s rarely ever the best character in any game, but she’s always one of the most dangerous and game breaking.
There are things about A2 that I like better, like the hitboxes and the lack of a guard meter, which also prevents stupid online strategies like mass jumps/flying attacks that eventually guard crush you. That’s part of my problem with A3. It’s one of the only fighters I know where you can literally reach a point of no return, where the other guy is GCing you in like 2 hits and there’s nothing you can do to make a comeback if you don’t have meter. So the game becomes more focused on not losing your momentum. Or basically, not getting knocked down.
And yes, I know that VC’s pretty much toss that out the window, but in terms of the fundamental way that the game plays, it’s a hell of a lot harder to make a comeback without meter if you’re already in a bad spot.
I don’t like how the damage counter is set so high in A2 though. Alpha counters do way too much damage as well. I like a lot of things about the way the game works, but it just seems more basic in a lot of ways.
I think its BECAUSE the damage is set so high that you dont need meter to get anything done. That is my main problem with A3: everything does so little damage outside of VCs. Secondly, there is no long drawn-out instant death in A2 (yes a contradiction in terms, you know what i mean though)
I also like the fact that A2 CCs have limited invinibility frames, despite the blow-out properties that only Evil Ryu can abuse
Yeah, the lack of infinites and blow-through VC’s is nice, although I don’t think the damage in A3 is that low. A 3 hitter still does over 20%. Fierce hits still do a lot. Hell, that’s part of the reason why jump spammers are so annoying.
I think I have less of a problem with normals doing a lot in A2, and more of a problem with projectiles doing a lot. The pace of the game is definitely very different though. A lot more careful, because you’re not being pressured to attack without a guard meter, which is nice since I hate taking hits on purpose to avoid guard damage in A3.
I dunno, I guess I’d rather just play ST instead of some weird amalgamation between it and A3.
