I was surprised too, I even watched the same ryu player against the ibuki.
Maybe he’s a makoto player, jk.
I think the ryu player was taking advantage of things that the other guy wouldn’t normally expect from a regular ryu player, such as trying to have them whiff a throw or poke and punishing with a super. Like in the match with ibuki, he hit him one of the times with shin shoryu during ibuki’s air chain into a ground high/low string combo, which normally, the other guy would just block, but the ryu decided to risk doing a super here, which worked.
IMO, I don’t really think the risk is worth it, but I guess since shinshoryu takes away like all of ibuki’s health, he was just taking advantage of doing something really unexpected.
Outside of supers, he also did really weird things like c.mk to hurricane even on block or parry, or a shoryu after a parry. (I don’t know if the shoryu was done on reaction or if he was going to input the shoryu if it was blocked anyways).
Eh, its just what I think.
If it works, I guess it works. :wonder:
The Shinsho stuffed Ibuki’s close RH. Ibuki had to walk a little ways forward before acting. The Ryu player prolly knew there would be a gap, so buffered the super off the block and waited.
But yeah, the Ryu player was pretty reckless. IMO, the Ibuki player (Sai) needed to be using SA.3 (he landed SO many confirmable s.MP’s)… or just plain needed to be using SA.1
Hey guys, remember the ranbat where Zangeof was beasting with Alex? What date was that ranbat? I need to know cause I’m trying to get it off KSK’s site but I forget the date on it…
You’d be surprised how well those hurricane kick mix ups works after a c.MK. Especially against character that completely whiffs the hurricane kick on crouch (like Ibuki) it can be rather difficult to deal with. You have to at least watch for the actual hurricane kick to come out and it’s risky trying to punish Ryu after whiffed LK hurricane from the right distance. If I was a Ryu played I’d take the risk against Ibuki to get that super in too. Against Ibuki…it’s the damned game if you connect it fully. Luckily Ibuki also has a lot of ways to bait Shinsho.
Ibuki owns Ryu  He’s always had a soft spot for little girls :xeye: Either that Ryu player was psychic, or he had very quick reactions. I’d prefer the latter since 1) He would always go into srk when the close fierce was parried 2) That close mp into dragon on the ibuki player which wasn’t exactly punishment.
That Yun player was sick. The Ryu beating him just kinda showed how, erm, randomness goes a long way in 3s :xeye:
Hey, I put some videos up of me and the very same above-this-post UK Akuma player HarmoNaz from over the summer. I was in London for a while and went over his house to play a few times, and he recorded a crapload of matches that he asked me to upload, but my computer had problems uploading for months until just the other day when I finally figured out what was wrong. Anyway, apart from random already-available matches I’ve just converted into YouTube video, here and at the bottom of the linked post please find attached 8 videos of me vs Europe’s best Akuma player, HarmoNaz.
Hopefully you didn’t get raped Ultra Dave. Gonna watch a few when I catch some off time.
Just watched the first 2. Good shit. I see you like using SA1 vs. Akuma. I remember Kuroda doing the same in Co op cup 4. Even got the SA1 punishement against a parried air fireball. Good shit. Is SA2 also effective against Akuma or does SA1 allow for more options?
jesus christ that akuma is solid.
for some reason i think he’s using some of naz’s tactics. the juggle with rh hurricane taunt into f+mp. or did naz get that from somewhere else?
that akuma is really good though:sweat:
Yea, they did. They usually don’t keep them up there very long, but occasionally someone puts them on YouTube before they take 'em down. Not sure if that’s true regarding these latest vids tho.
