Which is why the NFL cut him off at the pass and made the injunction happen in New York rather than in Minnesota.
In Minnesota there’s a judge that has a history of siding with the NFLPA on cases like this. That’s why Brady seemed to delay afterwards getting things into court. He was going to go up there, but instead of waiting on their asses for Brady to get a favorable judge for a case that he was obviously taking to court, the NFL took the initiative.
The only one to blame is Brady himself. Kraft had the entire organization prostrate themselves to Goodell and it probably would’ve worked. Hell, it DID work. But Brady being an arrogant prick thought himself above it. Now he’s going to fight this to the bitter end rather than admit to it out of slavery to his PR. In the end he’s going to lose anyway and all this is doing is adding extra distraction and frustration to the Pats season.
If Brady wins, Goodell really will have to resign. There’s no way in hell the owners are going to put up with the Pats and Brady basically getting away with all this shit again.
The most annoying thing about all of this though? In the end, this suspension won’t matter if it holds or not. No way the Pats do worse than 2-2 in those 4 games unless Jimmy G is somehow Curtis Painter. The Pats will still make the playoffs and probably win the division whether Brady’s playing those first four games or not. Brady’s legacy is already going to be tainted by this whole deal (but not to any massive extent, still an easy first ballot Hall of Famer and this crap will only be a sidenote).
All that matters is whether it looks like Goodell can actually stand up to the cream like Brady and the Pats. That’s the only thing riding on this now.
Yeah Brady really has nothing to lose in all this. He misses some games, so what? He’s still married to THE supermodel and is a good looking rich white NFL quarterback in the US…
Goodell loses, and that last microscopically tiny shred of his credibility and authority goes straight to hell.
Roger the Dodger HAS to win… He NEEDS to win this, or he’s done.
Even a favourable judge still needs to go by the book though and if it cut and dry has no reference to doctoring footballs (I haven’t read the thing) they actually have no cause to suspend him. Favourable to the NFL or not, they’ll have to bend to the law.
