really? The UK boss came off simply as an asshole. He had no sense of charm; that sense of sympathy was just because the character was so pathetic. I think people are much more sympathetic to Carell
nono, its how drowned in naiveness the british boss was. i dont think you can say michael scott has charm either. count the number of times he’d mismanage something and they’d leave the camera at his face, making him look like he knows what hes doing in that sad sad way. the camera doesnt really stay on carrells face, you usually just see the underlings being disgruntled. but in the british version you can pick up on this vibe of “omfg this guy really doesnt know what hes doing”, as opposed to “LOLS AT CARRELL BEING A CLOWN”. its kind of like that expression jim gives to the camera whenever dwight does anything outrageous. everyone was giving that face to the UK boss.
I have to post up after this ep, I think I can safely say this is my favorite episode of the office ever.

I think we need to stop comparing the UK version of The Office to the US one.
Just watched this week’s ep- I can understand why they keep making Karen out to be this jealous bitch, but I really wish the writers would make Karen really awesome. I like the idea of Jim and Pam being together, but I would like it even more if Karen was a threat to Pam.
i agre with ytwojay, i am a huge fan of both the british and american office. i think they both have their unique qualities, but NO ONE gets me feeling more embarassed for him than rick gervais in the uk office.

- as for that stunt: of course they’d get caught. The cameraman follows them around wherever they go. How did they think that they would have been able to pull it off successfully and get away with it?

All I have to say about this episode is…poor Jim. He got owned harder in this episode than he did when he got shut down by Pam at the end of season 2. Then again, he did bring most of it upon himself.

Jim–"NO! I’m not doing that."

I actually think Carrell is so much more likeable than Gervais. Gervais was a total tool… Carrell is actually caring. Note the episode where he is the only one to attend Pam’s art exhibition.
This episode was sooo good. KAREN!!! She didn’t seem like a bitch at all imo… when three guys, one including your ex boyfriend comes into your office and breaks an important piece of equipment, you have every right to be pissed.

Great episode 2nd only to the ‘Technology’ episode so far this season! Karen is hot…more air time please. Angela was mia, but that allowed Dwight to not be so damn depress and be goofy again. The mustaches were classic. XD
