The Northwest SF:HD Remix Matchups thread

Mickey didn’t even say anything about honda in the first place (I looked back to when this subject started and didn’t see him post anything about it), so why just single him out like that? Let alone the fact that he hasn’t been “on fire” for the past few days?

Listen no one around here is saying that Honda is cheap, if that were the case you would’ve been up there at the first few tournaments at Zach’s no?

Cheap to me is a character that takes little to no effort to get a victory.

Superman in DC vs MK is cheap.

MSP is not.

Neither is Honda in HDR (unless it’s vs cammy 0-10 or 1-9 in honda’s favor ) or SFIV.

sfiv honda is funner to play than HDR remix honda, and he isn’t weak (THE FUTURE), that’s cool man, but like what is the point of getting mad because people don’t see your opinion on the matter?

Can we keep things on topic in the threads here? I mean shit if you guys want to argue and go buck wild on each other and call people out about what they said and what not, make a NEW thread about that…or go to GD or something.

I hate seeing new posts only to find that it’s a bunch of High School tit for tat shit, what has the NW forums come to (there are a lot of guilty parties on this one, myself included so before you try to come crazy at ME I do realize I’ve done my share of poppin off)

My question concerning all of this is why do people even care about HDR?

Seriously.

TRUTH right there.

^Because HDR is tight, that’s why. :karate:

I am HOT GARBAGE at the game now that I have been playing SFIV like crazy though.

Because SFIV plays like Third Strike.

*CvS2

Wow. Even if it did is that a bad thing? I’m gonna catch heat for this but those games are better than ST IMO in terms of depth and gameplay. I got my fill back in the day of SF2 for several years (even though I didn’t play competitively and sucked) so I’m over the game. ST had it’s comeback because of the HDR hype and Julien/Jason moving up here but seriously, moveon.org.

!!!

You mean that SFIV has 3v3 gameplay with ratio format, wacked out normals, roll canceling, and selectable grooves?

I think SFIV plays like SFIV =/.

But yeah I was just being facetious with my last post, didn’t mean to cause another game vs game debate. So Remix kiddies, do ya thang MAYNE! Yomi all day.

All day.

I just really don’t like how much SF4 rewards defense. ST Guile player complaining about too much defense, go figure.

That and the fact that Guile is the worst he has ever been in any game he has ever been in. God damn it.

I swear, the hype behind SFIV causes blindness. Guess it is both good and bad, but like they say in pro wrestling any reaction is a good one. I really do look forward to future versions of SFIV though and that one day the game won’t feel so retarded. IMO it is pretty close to being awesome.

^Exactly! I didn’t want to say that because I thought I’d get hated on. The game is hype because it’s new. It’s not a bad game, it’s just… overhyped? I don’t know. It’s got potential. The way they described focus attacks and FADC made it sound like it would have awesome offensive options, but they’re better used defensively.

I think you’re assuming that we wished SF4 played like SF2, which is not the case. It has nothing to do with SF2. To me it plays so much like 3s that it just makes me want to play 3s. Focus attacking through a normal, to crumple, to combo, just looks like parry into combo (to me). I try to play it like a new game and I get stomped. I turtle and pretend I’m playing third strike and I get far.

I also don’t like how defensive it plays. It’s not that I don’t think it’s fun, because I do (unlike CvS2). Julian put it well in that it’s a pretty bomb strategy to get a life lead and then runaway or turtle the entire match.

You gotta take my opinion with a grain of salt because I’d rather play guilty gear than street fighter, though… I just find offense to be more entertaining.

One thing that frustrates me is they put in two buttons throws without finding a way around karathrows. Karathrows are stupid and make it feel even more third strike-y. Ken’s is especially nasty. The fact that you can’t pressure very much on oki, leading to 3rd strike wobbles along with karathrows makes the game feel rather stale to me rather quickly.

Anti air FADC, cr. lp> st. lp> st. lk> cr. mk> scissors XX Super. Saving attack is fucking bomb for everything.

werd.

I’m not only posting this to defend SFIV, but doesn’t the thought process of “get a life lead and turtle/runaway” ring true in every fighting game? I would think this applies to any competitive genre that is based around time. I always thought it was common knowledge that if you’re winning you turtle and if you’re losing you rushdown. I guess maybe it isn’t. Even Marvel has that with MSP, hell, any team that has Storm on it. If you got the lead you deserve to preserve.

That’s all I’m saying!

=D

And fellas, let’s remove the following terms from our vocabulary…

oki
ranbats
yomi
hyou bal
ume shoryu
orokusaki

Unless you’re saying “toppu te-ah” or “essu classu” anything remotely Japanese has to go.

Please, let us keep yomi.

i rep that yomi till the day i die son

readin all ur minds right now

I got 84s pokin out
At the club I’m showin out

Hoes wanna know what I’m bout

if i could inline pictures i would inline this one so hard right now

You should make it your av then lol.

The hype for the game at least for me died a couple of weeks ago and I do see it’s flaws, which I took into consideration when I said what I said. Obviously there’s no point in arguing which game is better since it’s a matter of preference (and I don’t like e-thugging), but I had to make the comparison because when people say X game is just like Y and Z game it drives me bananas as someone who has played X, Y, and Z extensively.
