Even if there are places to pay for the venue, I’d rather know that it’s available for us. I prioritize places with ample space, surge outlets, chairs, A/C and internet.
Anybody driving up to the Ranbats through Modesto/Manteca area? I live in Ripon, could anyone let me carpool?
There’s a person on IRC who goes by the alias ‘JacerX’. I’m trying to convince him to come to our ranbats since he lives in the Modesto area. I’ll keep in contact with you in case he decides to come. The only other person, who MIGHT come down, is Spirit Juice.
Edit: After this next tournament, I’m hoping if we can migrate up to Berkeley for our next ranbat. Does anybody know of the GGAC, MB, and BB scene up there?
If Sac has some sort of gathering soon and you go to that, I’ll come too to play MB and AC (maybe AC lol).
If you want me to, I can head to that place, talk to the owner that we’re interested in using the space and see what he says. I can take a picture of the place too in order to show how much space there is. Last time we used it, we had two tournaments going, SFIV and BB, and both had over twenty people enter them. There was enough space to run them. There were enough outlets to run four total set ups, had lots of chairs IIRC, air conditioning, and Internet (don’t think it was open wireless, although I don’t know why you’d need that). My only issue with the place was that the store had a very wide front with large glass windows/doors and faces West. The sun came pouring in during the tournament and was a minor nuisance.
I don’t drive down past Modesto when I go to SVGL.
I only know of the anime club at UC Berkeley which has a weekly game night where quite a few people play BB casually (less for MB I think), but I don’t think they’re serious enough to enter a ranbat with an entry fee. As for GGAC, there’s only me and another guy. Don’t know about the rest of the scene.
After talkin’ to my friend about his tourney. I managed to get him to move the date to March 27 so that it don’t fall on the same day as the Reno and Socal tourneys. Now the official info should be…
Elk Grove DeVry College
Saturday March 27, 2010
Street Fighter IV, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Melty Blood: Actress Again
Entry fee: $5 per game
Venue fee: $1
Prize: 65/25/10 for 1st/2nd/3rd
March 27th is the singles ranbat at SVGL for BB. >_<
 where good spots for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom? And should that be included in the thread for matchmaking :wonder:
It doesn’t hurt to get the space, venue price and time for usage. As long as I know that there’s a place we can visit in Sac, then we can consider using it for a venue. Pictures definitely help too.
I have no idea. The reality is that I’m catering, specifically, towards the Guilty Gear, Blazblue and Melty Blood communities. We have people playing the game, but we’re scattered and divided…
…and lazy.
Also, don’t forget to check out the Reviving Nor Cal Thread for further updates. Now that we’ve secured a venue, we just need people to bring the setups. When I check out the venue beforehand, I’ll make a picture of how the setup will look like.
To give you all an idea of how the previous ranbat was setup, here’s a picture of the previous one.
JacerX hasn’t hit me up with my request yet, so I guess I’ll be driving myself and DJCream to the Ranbats. Tao, could you please update the Nor Cal Revival thread as a driver for the Manteca/Ripon/Stockton area for Melty and possibly BBCS?
Yeah, sure, I’ll get you added on the list. Thanks for the heads up; we’re looking at a 20-40 turnout. So unlike last time, I request that people show up - no later - than one hour from the appointed tournament time. If you are going to be late, then send me a PM or call me. If you need my number, then send me a message.
GET HYPE FOR SATURDAY!
Edit: I talked to JacerX and he said that he’s not coming. Sorry about that man.
Edit2: I’m going to try to be a stickler about starting on time. We’re going to be hosting two GGAC tourneys and MBAA on the same day; this excludes the side tournaments that are, likely, going to happen. I do not want to stay till midnight trying to finish up a double elimination bracket. Humans get hungry and have sadlifes. I understand that people stay up till 4am watching loli animu, or whatnot, but find the balls to contact me if you’re running late. I found it, rather, ridiculous that volunteers - from the community - busted their asses off to get the, free, venue prepped up on time…
…only to discover that people showed up 3 hours late.
Edit3: Reviving Nor Cal thread is now updated with information of setups and carpools. More information to come on parking and ranbat setup.
Doing a head count for the MBAA ranbat… anyone exclusive to SRK besides Djcream and Newtypeseed making it out this weekend?
 maybe I missed it but whats the address for this saturday? or can u pm me it
See that thread for the address! Btw what games will you be entering?
 Probably GGAC just for fun haven’t played that game in ages but it’s one of my favorite games of all time. Is the buy in in that thread too? :wonder:
yeap its $5 for singles, $6 ($3 ea) for doubles (if we have them)
So, strange question, but will the Ranbat venue have a microwave? I is poor and need to bring my own lunch to save for gas money.
As a matter of fact, THERE IS!
Any nice cheap places to eat around the school? If not, then i’mma go bring a frozen lunch too.
