Ivy’s XBox could solve alot of these squabbles, because his one machine has mostly all games…but there is a joystick/pad problem…at least for me. Otherwise, I’d have his machine running up front on the tv all the time.
Then there is the Gamecube, which is very popular now because it has many NEW 4 player compatible games on it…unfortunately, half the peeps hate N3, MKDD, SSBM, OPGB3, etc. What am I supposed to do? I tried setting up something in the kitchen, but still there is drama.
Next month after tax return time, I plan to finally get a high definiton tv. When that happens, I will probably put the 32 in. tv upstairs and set that up as gameroom 2. Maybe that will smooth things out a bit. One can only hope.:cybot:

You don’t like a game? Fine. Say, “I don’t like that game.” Maybe give a logical reason or two. Discussion of whether or not a game is garbage is also good as long as you don’t take it to personal levels. “It’s gay.” does not count as a logical reason to dislike a game (or to sit and dis it at length when no one is listening to you anyway). But don’t walk into Robo’s house like you own it and throw a fit when things don’t go your way like a spoiled child.

As far as I’m considered, most of us don’t “get our way” any time, because there’s never been a time where any game most of us like was played all fucking night. Naruto people get couches and a big tv, where garou, alpha 3, samurai shodown, sc2, trilogy, and to a lesser extent 3rd strike and that fighting jam are relegated to a tiny screen in another room on folding chairs. Mind you I’m not saying we’re not accomodated, but when there’s 4 to 6 people in the living room for naruto for hours on end, and 12 to 20 in the adjoining room for another set of games, maybe the game that doesn’t change should get the lesser of accomodations.
As it stands, if we’re not going to cycle a game out every once in a while I might as well stay home; every chair in my house is an uncomfortable one, and I don’t own a couch, but at least the screens are bigger.

I don’t want to sound like I’m busting your balls here, but for my count I don’t think you can call the gamecube “very” popular. There’s you and the set of average 3 people who come with Ubersaurus that are really the ones sitting on it. That’s 5 people. If pressed I can whip up 5 or more for Samurai Shodown, Garou, Alpha 3, or even Mortal Kombat, and if we wanted to be annoyed by internet idiots, I could get a large group of losers who play SC2 with bullshit settings.
Also, I can’t believe you put “NEW” is all caps there, like “new==good” or something. I don’t know what OPGB3 is, but DoubleDash is like a year old now, and SSBM is at least 2. That leaves Naruto.
I’m not stirring up drama here, but I didn’t say shit about this issue this time, so you see it’s not just me. I’ll sit on the floor, I’ll sit on a plastic chair, I’ll sit on a stool. All fucking day. Why? Because that’s what I’m sitting on at home anyway, and that’s what the usual people who are at my house are sitting on too, so it’s not a big deal to us, but to the people who are wandering the hall and kitchen area waiting for something they like to go on the tv where they can sit comfortably, that’s probably a big pisser. We’re playing one of what I’ll call for purposes of this argument here, one of “my games;” someone comes in and says “man this is trash” I don’t take it personally, and I ask “well what do you want to play?” then after a few matches or so we switch games to something the complainer wanted to go to. Henry- HENRY, NOT ME, mentions in passing how Naruto is garbage. I concur. What happens? “Someone” gets his fingerskin-biting panties in a fucking bunch and goes off on some tirade like “why you gotta hate?! blaaaaaagh!” like it’s my fault that not only am I more vitriolic in my hatred than he is in his support of the game, but that other people have come to the same conclusion I have. So fucking sorry that your game isn’t loved enough to warrant 8 hours straight play.
I don’t know, smash bros tends to get like 7 or 8 people playin on it, with clarence, potemkin, and a few others. But other then that, you are correct in that it’s generally like 5 people playing naruto, with others watching, or wandering out of the room in cycles. It’s fucked up when that game runs for like 2, 3 hours, but motw, smash, real bout, kart, or sam sho, or league bowling, stuff like that, can’t get played, because it’s simply ridiculous to have to pull out a room full of systems for one fucking game. Robo has a myriad of sweet as fuck games, as it’s been proved in the past, and other people bringing stuff like Clarence’s saturn, or scotty and myself’s SNES gear, or ivy’s xbox, there’s plenty of other games.
There’s only one game that’s gotten played there that really deserved the 2+ hours of play it got, and that was KOF 2k1, since EVERYONE who went, played it. A third tv may help, but honestly, if you just set the cube up to the little tv, put some folding chairs around it, and let the naruto players run on that, then it’ll solve the main issue, that is, limited access to the bulk of the gaming rig. A 3rd tv would just be nice if people were bringing stuff to hook into it (which, as I’ve already stated, happens often enough). It’s the simple solution. Hell, I, or damn near anyone, could bring along their cube to replace the one in the main room if smash, kart, pacman vs(dammit, we’re playing it sometime), or world fighters wants to get played.
Let’s be honest here-that much naruto is akin to me and brandon playing frogs n flies for 2 hours. Yes, we could do it. We’d have fun doing it. But everyone else would be bored silly just watching it, and since they’d keep leaving the room, no one would challenge for the tv.
Personally, if Ivy could get a PDP-1 emulator running on his xbox and got Spacewar! running, I would probably never leave that machine alone.
Edit: Mario Tennis is pretty new for the cube, and supposed to be pretty sweet, as I understand it. Smash is like 3 years old though.
MESS is the only emulator that does Spacewar. It is not on the xbox.
Didn’t know MESS wasn’t on the xbox. Ah well…MESS kinda sucks, anyway. I do know that someone recently hacked the craptacular Atari 2600 version to play pretty damn close to that one, though, and you can’t tell me there’s no 2600 emu on the Xbox. I can send you a link to the hacked rom sometime, it’s a pretty strategic game with the right gravity and speed settings. My buddies and I played the PDP version on a java emulator for damn near 5 months a couple years back, and it was a blast.
Yes, we should cycle thru different games 'cause everyone doesn’t play the same games as other people do. That way, EVERYONE in ROBOTRON’s house would have at least played something. If there’s a game you don’t like then, just simply don’t play it at all. There should be a new rule: Half hr. to 40 minutes on EACH game that’s played. That way, it’s GUARANTEED that EVERYONE in the house would have played something.
Now, about taking turns: For every 4-player game that’s played, the 1st. and 2nd. place winners should remain on the sticks while 3rd. and 4th. place losers should pass the sticks. It’s only fair.
Now, the T.V. madness: If you know that you wanna play some games, other than the people are playing then, BRING YOUR OWN T.V. This will definately help alot.

If you wanted to impress everyone with your knowledge of Xbox emulation, you should have said something. The group of us that do enjoy Naruto are SO sorry that we didn’t want to watch 3 of you play fucking Mortal Kombat 2, or maybe a few of you run some Soul Calibur 2. Expect to play certain games at FNG? Get there at a decent time. For example, if we play Naruto at 10 to 11 and you arrive at 12:30am…don’t complain that you didn’t get to play Naruto…that simple.
Please…If a game is being played up front and it is one your not too fond of don’t crawl in another room and bitch all night, speak up. And if you still don’t don’t get to play the game you want to play, speak up again. I have never REFUSED to play a requested game as long as more than one person wanted to play it. It could even have been a game that I don’t particularly like for example CVS2…but I will still attempt to play it or at least get out the way so people who want to play it…can.
After I make these adjustments I hope things will improve. I spend cash and put a lot of time and effort to give everyone free gaming and in most cases free food and drink and a place to hang out with everybody…all you gotta do is find a way here…geeze.

You missed my point. My point was that when Clarence wanted to use a different controller, he went out and bought an adapter. There are plenty of adapters out there that aren’t based on all-digital saturn boards that will work. Failing that there are also plenty of universal sticks. When the damn dreamcast came out everyone complained about the pad being shit. What did they do? They learned to use it. I learned to use the xbox pad. If you can’t or don’t want to, there are plenty of options for you, but being that I have no money I can’t be instrumental in you pursuing them.
Look, don’t bother officiating, because it only ruins the whole thing. But just like real voting, this “majority rules” thing doesn’t work when most of the fucks don’t commit to anything. That’s what we call the status quo. When a lot of people will play whatever is up at the time, or have played it in the past, there’s no need for majority rule. Let’s play naruto. OK, then 2 hours later, hey, me and so-and-so want to play some whatever. OK, then after a while somebody else says “anyone want to play real bout?” or some shit like that. This majority rule switching is like standing there saying “if someone doesn’t want to change games, give me no sign.”
And because of those differences one set of games should be relegated to the back of the fucking bus?
