That’s nice. What about playing the same games I’ve already purchased multiple times for Wii, Wii U, and 3DS? Or are you going to make me pay for SMB3 again if I want to play it on the Switch (assuming classic gaming is eventually an option)?
I wonder if this is similar to the “waggle” issue people had with the Wii where they just don’t know what the fuck they are doing and push their ineptitude as a problem with the console.

[] Half of the online service isn’t functional at launch.
[] A paltry list of games available at launch, at least one of which was going to be at launch but no longer is.
[] No streaming services at launch.
[] Share button not fully functional at launch.
[] JoyCon syncing problems at launch.
[] No Virtual Console at launch.

This thing clearly needed more time in the oven, but they needed something big for the end of their fiscal year.

[] Yes. Nintendo sucks at online. Water is wet.
[] Just like every other non-Dreamcast console launch in history.
[] This has to do with gaming how? There are 9,784 other devices capable of streaming Netflix and Twitch.
[] I have personally never given a shit about a “Share” button. I’m sure most other people don’t either.
[] Again, the gaming media is notoriously inept at gaming. I’ll wait until actual real gamers have issues before going along with that one.
[] This, much like Nintendo’s online(or lack thereof) is the only real issue you’ve brought forth.

They obviously rushed the launch of the Switch due to the Wii U’s failures, but damn… Let’s give Nintendo shit for the things they actually fucked up, like charging for goddamn wi-fi online and their backwards digital polices and stop making shit up to be angry over.
The fact that so many other devices can do so many other things is to the Switch’s detriment. Most people will be turned off if they can’t do more with devices outside their primary function. It’s a matter of convenience. I sometimes throw on YouTube or Netflix after a gaming session. It’s easier to just access those things from the console than switching devices to get them.
It’s a feature the boosted for it’s console and it not being fully functional at launch is a bad look.
Being inept at gaming shouldn’t prevent a device from working as intended. If the device is fucked no amount of competence will make it work
Didn’t Nintendo have the Virtual Console ready to go when the 3DS and Wii U launched? It’s odd the Switch won’t have it at launch when they have the framework for it already and it’s been in place for about a decade.
People complain about VC all the fucking time about how there are never any games they want on it, or they have to keep rebuying shit they already bought on Wii/U/3DS…
But now that it isn’t ready to go out the box, it’s a fucking disaster.
It’s because the Switch version of those classic NES games are going to have much better graphics and frame rates than the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U versions.
I think the excuse of “the other consoles had bad launches too” doesn’t really work with the Switch.
In all those other cases, everyone was launching their next-gen hardware at around the same time, within a year of each other. So comparing everyone’s launch lineups was appropriate since everyone was on the same page. But the Switch is releasing off cycle. It’s not competing with the PS4 and XBone’s launch libraries; it’s competing with them at what’s arguably their peak.
It’s more that the implementation of the VC continues to be a disaster. It should be ready out of the box, and with most, if not all, of its library already available.
