The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

Are Switch Neo Geo ports done by DotEmu? Because I remember seeing a bunch of complaints about their PC ports in the past.

Its none of the shit DotEmu did in the past with Mame Roms and shitty emulation.

All the Neo Geo titles is done by Hamster Co, Same people who doing all the better Arcade ports to the PS4 and Xbox one.
They are going to also be responsible for the 80’s Arcade Ports of Older Nintendo games Arcade versions of Punch Out and Mario Bros as well as Nintendo’s VS titles.

sheeeit, it is SO on… today’s the day for Pokken Tournament, folks…and hell yeah I got it immediately after work. I made sure to play just a bit of it right there in the car before even leaving the parking lot… simply because I can…heh, portable gaming is the shit, man.

I do wish more of the Pokemon designs were appealing to me though… some of them just look stupid.

Hamster Co is doing God’s work. It is so awesome to see all these old arcade games getting spot on ports for home consoles. More often than not, you usually get multiple of every game you purchase. This let’s you see the differences however big or small with the English, Japanese or European versions of these games. I cannot believe I’m gonna be able to play Aero Fighters 2 and Mark of the Wolves anywhere on the Switch.

Actually the funny thing for the Neo Geo games are, all those version exist in the same game.
It’s the BIOS on the Console/Arcade board that sets the region and the hardware mode (MVS or AES).
So any region differences/lock out is by the BIOS on the hardware of the Neo Geo. So no matter where you got your Cart from, if your Console is a US Console you always play the US version.
That is why the Fan made Unibios Exist as a Mod to existing Neo Geo hardware.

Hamster Co is allowing the Emulation to pick which setting you are on instead of having to hack a Neo Geo’s hardware.

Alright cool so the Neo Geo ports are actually well done. Bodes well for the upcoming arcade collections.

Steamworld Dig 2 is out now for Switch and from what I’ve seen is getting a really positive response, so if anyone is jonesing for some more Metroidvania after finishing Samus Returns that’s worth a look.

Just checked the eshop and Golf Story finally has a concrete release date here of 28th of September here. Assuming it’s the same time worldwide so it’s the day after tomorrow.

For you lads in the US that swanky Xenoblade 2 Pro Controller is available for pre-purchase at Best Buy.

Thanks for the headsup for Golf Story, I will be snagging that game Thursday.

Thanks for the heads up on the pro controller.
This will be my 3rd one. I have the original and Splatoon one. I want all the pro controllers.

A good bit further into Mario/Rabbids, it’s actually pleasingly challenging. Like, not HARD, but it makes you think, and it strikes that balance where you feel smart when you solve a situation. I was initially complaining that there was no reason to ditch RabbidPeach and Luigi, but as the enemy types have gotten more varied and Luigi has shown himself to be seriously squishy, I’m finding a use for basically everyone.

In particular - mild tactic spoilers here -

[details=Spoiler]A lot of missions have this starter situation where, if you’re clever with your movement abilities and character skills, you can completely destroy the closest batch of enemies in the first turn.

This is immensely satisfying, gives you a huge head start for taking on the rest - and it seems to be required for Perfect ratings.[/details]

First 30 mins of Golf Story:

Looks pretty fun and interesting. Only thing I’m not a huge fan of is the jazzy music.

I’m liking Golf Story so far. I probably have like 75-90 minutes into it. It’s got a nice little charm to it. It definitely reminds me of an old school RPG with the childish elements in it, but I like the little golf stuff too. The golfing is pretty easy so far but it’s still fun.

Wish it had some kind of graphics smoothing though lol. It looks really pixely on my 120" screen. But it looks just like an OG SNES game, in a good way.

…what collections were mentioned? I seem to have missed this news.

I think Swedish Chef is referring to the upcoming Nintendo Arcade ports Hamster and Nintendo are putting out on the Switch.

Ok yeah… I’m enjoying Pokken so far. It still amazes me that graphics this good can be possible on what is mostly a portable system…currently up to B-rank in the regular “story” mode. Heh, it’s not much of a story of course… you just keep fighting, and occasionally Dark Mewtwo shows up to beat your ass while looking awesome for a minute.

*the latest dream-port-- Cuphead. A Switch port of that would get bought SO goddamn fast.

Yeah I have quite a few platformers from the eShop on Switch and Cuphead on Switch would be PERFECT. The dpad on the pro controller is just perfect. Too bad that is unlikely though. I’ll grab it on X1 shortly, probably after I finish Golf Story, but playing with the X1 controller is going to kind of be a bummer.

Almost bought a Switch earlier, but opted not to. I’ll probably get it when a proper Mario Kart comes, otherwise I can’t justify it in my head. When does the new 3D Mario drop?

Next month. If you want a Switch and you know there is a game coming out that you know you are going to play, just buy the system now and avoid the holiday shitshow. Hell if you want to play mario then preorder the SMO bundle.

Speaking of SMO…holy shit guys. This game was announced in Jan and here we are 9 months later and about to have it dropped on us.

Hype!?

Nintendo is about to kill my pocket these 3 months.

we have a proper Mario Kart for the system now. And it’s the first Mario Kart since the Snes days to have. a decent battle mode
