The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

Game play fun, I don’t get why people are bitching about the controls.
The lobby matching needs so much more work.

I swear this fucking ai is input reading feels fucking impossible to land anything bur punishes.

On my first playthrough of grand prix fucking Ninjara spot dodges my attacks and grabbed my scrub-ass like 5 times in a row. This was ai difficulty 3 btw.

The non-motion joycon controls are alright, my main gripe coming from having to block by pressing down the analog stick.

As for characters, I’ve been trying to play Min Min and I have yet to kick an somebody’s arm. It also feels like her super (dragon+megawatt) has a really small width and everyone else’s extends a whole fucking country mile.

Didn’t have much trouble with Ninjara, but that slime dude and Twintelle just seemed to dodge absolutely everything on difficulty 4 (or no sell it with their shield fist things), ended up just having to punish random hits with the party popper and timer scam them.

Ribbon Girl seems to be gelling with me the most, whenever I play another character I really miss her mobility.

Picked up ARMS today. Wanted to order it on Amazon but it’s been delayed so I just went to EB Games.

If you haven’t done it already, go through training mode. You might learn some stuff.

sheeeeit, I might get Arms simply out of curiosity…

It might be a while before I play Mario Kart online again… I’m so damn tired of losing points to “COMMUNICATION ERROR HAS OCCURRED” bullshit. This is quite unfortunate since it’s always better and actually easier to race against real people than the highly suspicious muthafucker that is the AI…an AI that apparently doesn’t have to obey its own rules of physics or whatever, and decides what items it wants to use against you at every possible moment. (like if you have something really good…use it immediately because in about 4 seconds the AI WILL take that shit away from you via the Boo item it just decided it has.) Real people of course cannot bend the goddamn rules of the game to their whim…everyone is on an even playing field.

*sidenote–not sure which play-style I prefer with this system at the moment… I’m always playing it portable, but there’s the pure portable mode vs. the detached joycons setup, or the joycons + middle-piece “connector thing” setup… I was playing it that way at work yesterday and it was great.

One thing I’m wondering about with ARMS is ARMS customization in local multiplayer, taking a setup to my locals this Wednesday and I know there is no way in hell I’m going to have it all unlocked by then but if we just stick to base setups only until all the ARMS are unlocked to keep it fair then I’m pretty sure it’s going to end up staying that way even after everything is unlocked.

So have you all picked a waifu in ARMS yet? I know most will go with Twintelle for… obvious reasons. I mean, the girl has actual arms. That already gives her an advantage over the other potential waifus because she can do things they can’t. [details=Spoiler]Like make a good home cooked meal. What,
you thought it was something sexual? Shame on you.[/details]

Gotta be Mechanica, Nintendo has tweeted out some pics of her without the robot and she got normal arms too.

Now if only I could see a reason to use her over the more mobile characters, mobility seems to be king here and her hover feels a bit like “sitting duck mode”.

I try not to hover to much, instead I use her dash which still isn’t THAT much better than just hitting dash a few times in a row.

Mechanica. She’s Nintendo Tron Bonne and I love her

Yeah, I mean it’s nice that she can hold the dash for a bit and then potentially cancel into hover into airdash, but all those moves are so slow it doesn’t actually help much.

I wonder how successful this game will go. And what new characters would you all want to see if in DLC or sequel?

You know they have plans to support the game with new characters, stages, and ARMS as FREE DLC, right?

I would not mind paid DLC if the dev staff gets a share of all DLC profits.

Figured out that when dashing with Mechanica if you cancel into hover you can get a level 2 charge, kind of shit with her default weapons because it turns out revolvers will both shock the opponent and knock them out of the shock so you get sod all out of it, but with other arms unlocked it helps her be a bit better.

No I don’t. Sorry.

I think it’ll do okay enough. I don’t see it being a huge, breakout new IP success for Nintendo like Splatoon was though.

I’ll be honest, I don’t know what people see in most of the character designs for ARMS. Most of them look like unholy abominations.

There’s twintelle.
