Yeah I don’t consider any of that
For me it’s which version looks and plays better.

sheeeittt, for me the Switch version will only lose out if the compromise on graphics is just too much… like with Witcher 3… I’ve been quite tempted to get that but I already have it + all DLC on XB1, and I’m not sure I want to take such a big hit on the visuals in that game (same deal with Doom and the upcoming Doom Eternal; more than likely I’m getting Eternal on X1 instead)…outside of this type of scenario—that factor of a game now being portable will always be the winning thing to me.
Thanks for that. I guess because I’ve always preferred portables, making concessions, graphical or otherwise, isnt that big a deal to me especially if it’s a game I own on a console too.
A lot of those things he mentioned in the video seem a bit nitpicky to me, especially when you consider you’re talking about a console that’s only a fraction of the power of a PS4, but I think it’s good to be able to make an informed decision about what’s important to you. It seems funny to me though that people would get bent out of shape about the graphics the way they have with SamSho’s visuals in portable mode, as if they somehow expected the game to be 1:1 with the PS4 version in that regard, but I suppose gamers with social media accounts are just waiting for something that can blow out of proportion.
Anyway, playing some Bloodborne yesterday have me miss the Soulsborne thing and made me want some of that on my switch, and since I’ve never really played DS1 beyond the Taurus Beast, I figured maybe that would be a good time to get into it since it’s portable.
That’s fine. A lot of people don’t. Whatever reason they choose one over the other is fine. With AA and AAA titles I pretty much agree with you tho.
With Indie titles I’ll usually go with Switch, just because those games are great in portable mode.
No doubt. Some people’s nitpicks are dealbreakers for them so its better to know what you are getting in to. Anyone who buys a multiplat game and expecting a game to run completely in line with the ps4 version if it is anyway graphic intensive is fooling themselves. We’ve been through how many console generations now? Over 5 easily? Kind of not an excuse anymore to think that lower power systems have to make sacrifices to get things to run properly especially something that is half mobile. The fact that we have companies willing to put forth the effort to get games that have no graphical right to be on this platform to run properly is a miracle.
The Switch has been occupying most of my game time over the last near 3 years, so I’m always down to support games on this system. Games running at 60fps is awesome and all but as someone that has done his gaming on consoles for most of his life, blasphemous as it may sound, I’m alright with 30fps. It still blows my mind that we got games like DOOM, freaking 2016 DOOM running on the Switch as well as Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. Are they downgraded from PC and more powerful console versions? Yeah, but they still run pretty dang well and along with the portability, that works for me.
I was gonna get The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Complete Edition on PS4 since I already bought the vanilla version for that system when I bought my PS4. But then it came to the Switch with all of the DLC and extras on one game card in a fancy box with some extra stuff. Factoring all the time I spend on the Switch it was a no brainer to get it for that system. Never played Witcher 3 but I think I’ll start it up after Sunday since I finally have one off.
I brought the Hori split pad pro. These things are pretty awesome. They are far more comfortable to hold compared to the stock Joy cons. I have small hands but the big size of this thing wasn’t a bother to me. It had a similar feel to the pro controller. The d-pad, the reason I brought the thing is actually decent. Played Mega Man Zero with it with no issues whatever. I want to test these on a 3D game to see how well the analog sticks hold up.
It reminds me of the 16 but era in a way. Arcade ports were usually a bit different in SNES and Genesis depending on who made it, so if you had both, you had to decide what was more important to you.
Exactly. The longevity of the system plays a big part in how much I’m willing to support is I guess a much more simpler explanation into why I’d rather buy on Switch vs. PS4.
PS4 isn’t going anywhere for awhile though. I’d bet you’ve still got another 2-3 years before it’s totally EoL’ed.
Maybe? But the content for it is going to slow down significantly m. That’s just the way of the beast. a lot of it will likely be Indy stuff I’d rather get on Switch.
And if it’s going to exclusive that’s to be released on the 4 and 5 I’d obviously want the 5 version.
If it’s going to be released on the 5 will it get a Switch release?
It’s not bad. It runs a bit better then it did on ps3 and Xbox which means 30fps everywhere but like Blightown and the Ruins of Izalith, outdoor sections of Anor Londo and the like. Not unplayable but noticeable performance drop.
I’m talking about strictly exclusives when it comes to 4 vs. 5.
With indies I’ll likely always opt for the switch for all the reasons I’ve mentioned
Apparently you can steal from the shopkeeper in the dungeons in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX. But doing so isn’t a wise idea. As someone who has not played the original, I wonder if the shop owner is similar to the one jn Link’s Awakening or worse. Alpharad says stealing from this dude is like having God get upset with you.
I’m still waiting on a switch pro version for like xmas season or something.
Don’t hold your breath or you are going to look like Nightcrawler. There isn’t gonna be a Switch Pro. Its the WiiHD all over again. People are going to keep carting out the rumor over and over again. The Switch is 3 years old. Nothing is happening this year. At best, you’d get an update after four years at which point we’d be talking about a successor and not a “Pro”.
Ninty already said they aren’t releasing another iteration this year.
